    Game information:
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is the second main installment of The Legend of Zelda series and the direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda. It was originally released on the Famicom Disk System in Japan and eventually on the Nintendo Entertainment System in North America and Europe. While retaining many of the features of its predecessor, The Adventure of Link altered certain elements of gameplay, most notably affecting movement and combat. Traveling across a world map would lead to enemy encounters which took place on a side-scrolling field of play rather than the top down perspective for which the series became known.

I would beat the first three temples without placing the Crystals. Then grind the enemies in the temples until you have 7s in everything, then place the crystals.

There is another one that works if you had the Turbo controller. Go to the swamp region, I believe. It's the one where the blue bird flies down and across the screen. Go to the edge of the screen and face the incoming birds. They will keep coming forever and if you have the Turbo controller... you just hold down the attack button with a C clamp (you can get one cheap from a hardware store or online) and it will keep firing without you having to touch anything.
Just let it run while you do other things and check back on it from time to time to level up a stat. It will keep firing while you're doing that so you don't have to adjust anything. You can easily max out every skill before you go anywhere big.
Learned it from David, Brian or Brent... always seem to get them the most... at the Nintendo Power Tip Hotline when I was a kid.

Only farm bubble experience in Parapa Temple, skip upgrading health and magic and go straight for Sword until 4 (around 1k exp), then get enough exp to skip health and magic and clear the temple, you'll get 2k exp to upgrade to sword 5.
That's how I've played Z2 for years and it's the fastest way to finish the game under 3 hours

I find it easiest to raise your attack levels to the highest first, so that you can defeat some of the more difficult enemies without excessive grinding.

I would always plan it so that destroying the palace boss would raise a level, and then placing the crystal would raise another. I would fight a lot of bubbles in the first palace too, and usually by the time I beat the first boss my stats were 4’s and 5’s.

Though if you're good enough to avoid taking damage most (if not all) of the time, you could forgo upgrading health altogether, right? Seems to be what the player behind Nintendo Unity did, but then again, they could be using an emulator and/or save states.

I never knew this trick (8:53) I only came here to watch the video for fun, but I'll find this useful, thanks.
Also the final trick is insane which I didn't know about either.

the 7th trick is so good for making the early game easy, at the cost of beating the entire game. This could be useful if you have 2 people playing the game!

I did this too. In fact, I also saved all my life dolls for the final dungeon and used this trick for at least 3-4 more lives.

I would beat all the palaces without using the crystals. Max out your attack, magic and health. Then flip the crystals. You get an extra life. So the 3 you start with, the 7 crystals, plus the 3 or 4 you find on land. I enter the last level with 11 extra lives.

Finally time to get revenge to those bosses that caused me pain after all these years. Helmet Head, the 5 and 6 bosses and shadow link, without the corner tricks. This is great for speed running. 30 years later finally got to beat shadow link, without the corner trick. Thanks for the tip, what if I use the final slot with the same name.

Tip 0/7: when you first start, encounter an easy enemy in the field, then go back and forth killing them (sometimes you’ll get a point bag worth 50). Easy way to get your first levels before going somewhere without a saved game, and you can exit any time and heal.

  • @ClassicTVMan1981X

If you have beat the game in one player's slot, you can have a new player get increased skill levels earlier if you do this.
First, use the player you already beat the game with, and go to the first palace and defeat the first boss. After setting up the crystal there, while the experience points counter is ticking upward to the maximum of 9,000, press Start to bring up the spell menu, and then on Controller 2 press Up and A together to bring up the Continue/Save menu. Going back to Controller 1, select Save and the game will return to the title screen, then hit Start again to bring up the player menu. Go to the second player slot and as your experience points counter continues ticking upward, your new player will have multiple opportunities for increased levels of life, magic and attack so you take out the harder enemies without too much farming at this early stage.

The only correct answer to grinding the levels is to get the special item from each castle, then when you have everything most of the way leveled up you pound the six castle bosses and get the last ones.

If you get good enough at the game, you don't have to worry too much about leveling up. My strategy is get the first magic and heart containers and the 50 P bag. Cancel leveling up magic and life. Instead increase attack, just play the first palace, destroy all enemies. One of the iron knuckles will drop a 200 p bag. When you finish the palace, you should have attack at 4, life 1 and magic 1. By the time you reach death mountain, you should be attack 4,magic 2, and life 3. All this by just defeating the enemies on the way to death mountain

  • @joncarroll2040

A really good way to level without grinding of controller tricks that only work on original hardware...
Commit to clearing only enough of each dungeon to progress in the overworld. Collect all the treasures, heart & magic containers, sword techniques and spells. This should get you to within 6 total levels of your max. At this point complete the dungeons. Not only will they be much easier because of your advanced level, but you will be gaining max XP from the crystal drops and you can largely play an avoidance game with the tougher enemies and ignore the XP satchels which can be tough to get.

Trick 2/7: you did only the 20+20 points. There's that jumping enemy that will give you 5 points also. So that "room" is 45 points (most often) and not only 40. That's a good trick early in the game. And when you are low on life/health just go to the town and refill the life/health thanks to that lady then do that 40 or 45 points again and repeat that as long as you have the patience for :)

Or clear first the dungeon of all enemies including the boss and instead of walking to place the crystal jump over the center, walk out, rinse and repeat. Less tedious than fighting the bubbles

@@GamingShroom1 go to floor below the floor where you find the power glove. In the first room you will be greeted by a moa. There's a certain spot where you can use the jump spell and upthrust but you must time your strike otherwise you might lose experience points. Upthrust you can get in the mountains town of Darunia, just look for a chimney and press down on the controller.

Very interesting, especially trick 5, I remember that I just went around the Death Mountain route many times, it was good because there were many orange/red dairas in some places that gave a lot of XP, few rounds are necessary to level up.

1st of all, you stop to stab each enemy.... Bruh you have to jump and kill enemies (that are one hit) to keep momentum. Not stop and stab. Also killing the skeleton heads are a horrible way to grind xp

  • @charliechuckleberry5307

The biggest problem is leveling up at the beginning of the game. His methods were terrible, and mostly pointless when it required the skills he was using. The end game XP doesn't matter because you max out long before beating the whole game. The only useful information in this video is naming your account LINK.
