  • @JesseOutdoors and I made a trip down to Headwaters in Fellsmere, FL. What a day! Had several setbacks, (forgot my sunglasses, almost got stuck, lost my hat, wind and storm rolled through) but we managed to get out there and made the best of it. We primarily focused on hyrdrilla fields and flipping mats mixed with brush. Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!
Make sure to follow Jesse and check out his channel!

Heres what we have noticed with these fish..
They are so strong and healthy, when you go and set the hook you wont get a hook in them because they lock down on the bait so hard that the bait and sinker just stays behind their closed mouth. As soon as they open their mouth the bait pops out. My partner had to giants on he thought and as soon as they got near the boat they opened their mouth and out it came. We looked at the baits and the hook was still lightly skin hooked in the bait like it was just rigged.
He was using a fast action rod .. Its to soft even with braid. .. my rod was a heavy action Berkeley flipping stick . I stuck everything that bit. So carry a heavy action rod in case they are coming off..

lol, you're absolutely right, but I really didn't want to go more than calf deep. It was a steep drop off. I've seen a gator in there swallow a turtle! My buddy took pictures, it was crazy.

Nah, this was back in October. FWC has been doing a good job keeping it cleared out. I've been back since then. If you have a Facebook account, there's a group called "Headwaters Lake, Fellsmere Reservoir and Egan Lake in Fellsmere Florida". it might show up as "Headwaters Lak". But they communicate pretty regularly in there with guides and locals about the conditions of the canals. You can always ask before you make a trip and they'll answer. Thanks for watching.

Great video. Glad you got to fish. But please let people know, flying a drone over the reservoir is illegal. The reservoir is under homeland security regulations. If you post a drone video in public, you’ve given them the evidence.

Thank you for the information!! Would you happen to have a source or link to where it says this? I've looked and I was unable to find something. The DJI app is uploaded with the most recent no-fly, restricted fly zones based on GPS location and won't let your aircraft take off. Maybe it's just using federal FFA locations? Just want to make sure and have a source or proof. Thanks again!
