I bought my 2020 Crestliner 1700 Storm in April of 2020. I wanted to give a good walk-through and show off some modifications and additions I did to the boat. I hope you enjoy!
This evening I knocked out that welded tab at the end of the rod locker! Man what a difference, I broke a tip off of one of my favorite rods last year because of that stupid set up. Thanks for the tip! Next I am putting my trolling motor batteries in the front box from the rear. Great video, thank you again for sharing
I like your thinking, reminds me of me. I'm looking at the crestliner line now to replace a tracker panfish 16 stick steer but dread the up and down from the cockpit (weak knees) until I watched what you did with the driver seat.....OUTSTANDING!!! you gained a sub just for that!
Hey, great minds think alike! Be mindful of the Crestliner line though. I've recently had issues with several transom welds breaking/separating. I did not read the warranty details and added a jackplate. Unfortunately, any damage to the transom is not covered under warranty if you add anything onto the transom for several models (Discovery, Kodiak, Vision, Bay, Storm, Retriver, and Outlook) in their lineup. This includes jackplates, shallow water anchors, transom brackets, etc. So I'm basically stuck with having to find a welder to fix the welds.
Did you get a Storm? Do NOT ADD ANYTING TO THE TRANSOM!! Especially a jackplate. My welds started cracking and I took it in thinking it was still under warranty to have them fixed. Deep in the warranty paperwork it states that several models, including the Storm, are not covered if you add anything to the transom, including jackplates, shallow water anchors, etc. So now I'm left trying to find a welder than can fix the aluminum welds. Other than that, it's a great boat lol! Let me know if you have any questions.
@@SwampazzFishing Yes, it's a 2017 1700 Storm. Bought it off a guy that barely used it. Wasn't planning to add anything on the transom, but I'll be sure to keep an eye on the welds now. First order of business is to upgrade the trolling motor to something with spot lock.
I have the same boat, surprisingly I did some of the exact same up grades as you. I have a 70lbs trolling motor, both batteries are in the back with the initial 12 volt starting/operation battery. Lots of weight in the back. So I think I am going to move my batteries to the front compartment like you did. Thanks for sharing!
I noticed a significant performance difference with the batteries up front. Also, don’t get a jackplate like I did!! The welds on my transom all broke except for the main support. The warranty did not cover it since I added a jackplate. If you do have any problems with welds or anything and you do have a jackplate or shallow water anchor, remove them before you file the claim!
Damnnn thats alot of handy man wiring. Wish I was capable of doing that. well done sir Since its a flat bottom/low to the water. How is it in rough waters? Had water splash up in inside, or if a hole flying by causing big waves?
I have tried, there is NO insulation. The ice melts very fast, especially here in the Florida sun. There is no pour-foam in around the compartment. Was thinking I could maybe line the inside with insulation foam from Lowes or something. We'll see though.
I placed a micro PowerPole on the back and used thespotlock on the trolling motor when out in open water, and with those two, I had no need for a traditional anchor.
I honestly got this one from a small boat dealer about 6 hours away and he negotiated my price down to "stock" without all the extras. That little step, the spare tire, the upgraded seats, etc, were all not added on to the base price. I guess it all depends on where you get it from. The guy said he was eager to get this one off his lot, so he gave me a good deal.
I noticed you said "I definatly don't want to take this boat into the saltwater." Why is that ... being that its all aluminum isn't that a good thing? Thanks!
Honestly, just to preserve the motor and everything else on the boat. Saltwater corrodes and eats away at almost everything. Screws, hatch pistons/hinges, carpet. Also, saltwater takes a lot of care. I'd have to wash the boat and rinse the motor after every trip. I wanted to primarily focus on bass fishing for tournaments.
Bro nice boat maybe I could ride in that one to lol I’m Seth u took me and my brothers on your boat and let us fish I was gonna tell u that I’m going to start a fishing channel and would u like to give me some tips and help me get started

@@SwampazzFishing What trolling motor shaft length are you running? Looking at a MK Powerdrive in 48 or 54 in.

@@SwampazzFishing couple years ago I almost put on a jack plate. I didn't though, I do have a shallow water anchor. Good things to know. Thanks!
i don't know what several of the things you showed were like the anchor rod thing ? whats pan optics tube thing ? yolo stick?
Nice build!!! Rod holder on deck is Genius
very nice boat..enjoy it..!
How well does this boat hold up to current and bigger waterways? We fish on the Mississippi with a Jon boat. Looking for a good upgrade.

Nice. I'd turn that unused bait well into a cooler

Do you have any trouble with the compartments leaking when it rains thanks
Can you tell me how you anchored your boat. I have a 2014 Storm 17 and don't see any convenient places to anchor at that's solid? Thanks!
I placed a micro PowerPole on the back and used thespotlock on the trolling motor when out in open water, and with those two, I had no need for a traditional anchor.
What's the full weight of the boat and trailer as far as towing goes? I've been checking this exact boat out. Nice vid! Subscribed!
Honestly not too sure. All I can tell you is the dry weight of the boat only, is 670 lbs. Not sure about the trailer, but maybe another 300 lbs?
@@SwampazzFishing disregard last lol I went and got me a used truck instead of trying to use my wife's Honda crv lol thanks for responding though!
Are Crestliner boats negotiable? Like I know tracker boats are no hassle price but are you able to get better deals on these?

Where you get that garmin mount from that near your trolling motor ?
Got it Bass Pro Shops. Think it was their brand mount.
how thick is the starboard on the console?
If I remember correctly, it’s 1/2”.

How fast can you get that boat to go witj one person
With myself and the right trim, I could get up to 31mph with the right conditions. Average top was around 29.
