there was a earlier episode where the wives have their children in the hospital. At the end they show the prams with eddie and bill dressed up as toddlers, later on in the episode near the end eddie and bills wives show the babies off.
50p per hour 🤔🤔 that was a lot of money back in the 70's my mum would give linda ( the girl across the rd ) a £1 for the whole night out. And that would be from about 7pm until 11:30 and my mum and dad would bring home fish "n" chips with a bottle of Babycham or Pony for me and my sister.👍🏿 oh the gud old days👍🏿
steve lyle I went to see Paddington 2 last week (good movie btw) and bizarrely, there's sort of a modified version of this theme tune in it! I live in America now, so it was really surreal sitting in a movie theater in New York and hearing the theme tune to an obscure 70's British sitcom. What made it all the more surreal was that I have been watching a few of these episodes every day for the last few weeks, so I had literally watched Love Thy Neighbour only a few hours before I went to see the movie.
Every time i heard that monotonous Thames buildings emerge from the swamp I thought of Joan. It has 8 bars with 8 syllables and as a Kid I use to sing ... "Get the rol ing pin out Joan now"
Possibly because Bill's child was already at Eddie's playing with or sleeping in the same room as Eddie's child. As both nannies were at Eddie's it is the most likely scenario. Use your imagination.
It's nice for you to think that. But we're not.... equality, diversity I work at a college and there is only 5 of us that works in the office sector out of around 130
Minor Continuity Error : Barbie tells the Agency "I live at 104 Maple Terrace" then emerges from 102 at the end. Eddie lives at 104 as established in 08.05 Power Cut when the Gas Engineer asks where Maple Terrace is and Eddie tells him that he lives at 104 when they discuss digging up the road.
Disgraceful, Eddie never did this for Joan nor Bill for Barbie and his baby left alone for hours too! I see his character (men like him), old, sad and alone in the future. There children were some of the best behaved babies ever and sooo cute too!
She got a part time job so she could pay off the money she had taken from their holiday savings to pay for the fur coat. It's the modern family that goes to work to spend a large proportion of their money on childcare.

nvm - did some quick digging and i think she's saying 'cattarh' - which is a mucus buildup in the airways - we don't seem to use this term here down under
Nannies cost £4.00 each and Barbie and Joan were only going to earn £5.00 for the day, take into account prob 15 mins each way to work and back, that's another 25p...profit made by Joan and Barbie....75p lol.
Your trying to compare it to today's living back then 75p was a lot of money a can of coke was about 6p fish "n" chips up north as I remember it 10p and you couldn't eat the whole lot plus it got them out of the house.
One of the first propaganda films promoting more women in the workplace to enable them to buy shit they don't need and abandoning their kids with strangers for 50p and hour to do so.
It’s made pinker rather than red due to the fact the dye comes out the first time it was washed! I remember those from the 70’s , Chelsea’s blue one went baby blue in the wash! 😂
Thankfully we can enjoy watching these classics on CZcams.
I dread to think for how long!
I love the Thames intro, heard it 100s of time as a small child. Its makes me feel safe somehow.
Me too.
@@johnryno Me too.
Me too, always reminds me of rainbow.
I have a similiar memory of the ATV ident at teatime heralding the intro to "Crossroads"
Agree. I always think of Rainbow at lunchtime about to start.
This is the only episode where you briefly actually see the two kids!!

Oh the damage I could do to a young Kate 👍🏿
There is one episode where she is in a bikini, PHEW she looked awesome.
This one takes me back, my first babysitting job was for 50p per hour, love these old shows so much. Thanks for sharing 👍😊
Those 50p's added up, you managed to buy a chihuahua in later life with them.

the thames tune is very comforting...😊
About time! I've been binge watching and finally they actually show the babies. I was beginning to think we would never see them.
They had to come out sooner or later. Spend too much time on their own.
@@jenparry718 its a TV show lol
Love the intro song. It's very catchy . Been singing it and been getting some funny looks

Why was Bill doing housework at Eddie's? As he says "let's go over to my house and get a bowl of soup"

I bet the nannies just put on the 'up for it' act to get the guys to run around them 😅
