Brilliant British Comedy, never mind political Correctness, that's the trouble people get upset about nothing.

This episode did its job in making you fuming with rage especially because you still have viscous bigotry and pure nastiness in the world in 2024, all these years later. Sadly people never learned from this episode and have completely missed the point that any form of bigotry isn’t acceptable as a form of banter, humour or a joke, it’s something that leaves you traumatised. This episode, particularly Eddie’s behaviour was meant to be as disgustingly offensive as possible to show this really happening in society on a daily basis.

I was reading about love thy neighbour on Wikepedia and was shocked to find that the show was so controversial. It was my favorite as a kid and mum and dad would call me down every week to watch it. I watched the episodes again and laughed so hard in contrast to the acclaimed American comedies. I don't think there was anything mean about. And I should know as an Indian girl growing up in North England in the seventies.

The way you get up from the beached whale position as a heavily pregnant woman is, you roll onto your side, get onto all 4's then push yourself up from there. I had to do it all the time, as my useless, now ex-husband, promised to exchange the mattress on the floor in his ex-bachelor pad, for a real bed, but never did. And as he was never home, I had to handle myself whatever happened. I became quite the expert at ex-beach waling myself!
