      Ya all my tools are milwaukee except for 4. Dewalt 60v skill saw,table saw, compressor and grinder. I bought into 60v just for the skill saw. Milwaukee had none of these tools available when I bought in(except smaller grinder). All I can say is the 60v power is unmatched. I don't even know were my corded saws are. I believe milwaukee has the best platforms right now 12v and 18v however I'm a firm believer in every manufacturer has that one best tool and I think its dewalt 60v skill saw. The next tools on my list are Bosch 12v max router and planer.... can you believe I just said that!!! BOSCH 12V

I personally love the competition dewalt and Milwaukee have going on, it’s forcing the cordless tools forward at a fast pace, we have 14” electric concrete saws now from Milwaukee and the flex volt chop saw from dewalt is nuts! Great for us guys on the field for these companies to keep up the competitiveness.

    Tough call to make here. The detents are cool but not a deal breaker. The flex volt batteries work great but like the 12.0 M18 are very expensive. I use both brands in other tools and have been using after market batteries from amazon with great results and great prices. I can not find after market 60volt batteries. So for me the nod goes to Milwaukee. Both seem to be great tools. If I had no Milwaukee batteries I’d go with the dewalt. My 6Ah 60volt flex volt batteries do not last any longer than my 18volt Milwaukee batteries

    A big part of this comparison is the battery platform that your invested in. Is one saw so much better than the other that you would invest into a all new battery platform to pick it up, probably not. However alot is to be said about Milwaukee having one type of battery that works in their entire tool line up compared to DeWalt with their FlexVolt or even Makitas 2 battery 36v tools

    • @melsmobileservices4223
      @melsmobileservices4223 Před 5 lety +1

      This is my deal. I. My opinion battery platform makes the choice for you. I won't invest in another platform unless there is no option available or i just gotta have it today in order to finish a job. Even then, i would probably buy a corded tool due to the cost, in a pinch. As you can tell, I've chosen Milwaukee as my platforms of choice due them having tools that make me money constantly without failure. To me warranty & failure rate makes a difference as i will pay more for a great tool that just works with no issues for years then the new hotness. That is why corded tools are still around......40 years later!

      @brawldawg8729 Před 4 lety +1

      Exactly, Ben. Furthermore, all the big dogs make good quality tools by today's standard, one particular tool may have the specs that you want, or the feel that you prefer, but by the time you purchase your second tool or second "spare" battery, you're what I call platform committed. If someone out there has the money and desire to pick and choose tools to the point where they're the cordless tool melting point, more power to you! In today's cordless world, I think that you are in a league all your own. The real value of reviewers, builders' and tool peddlers is helping the plebians begin their path to platform commitment. I'm DeWalt committed, though there are some Milwaukees I wish were in my garage. It just ain't meant to be at this point. That said, I started with 9.6v Makita, followed by 14.4 Porter Cable, landing on today's 20v Dewalt. In the name of full disclosure, I operate firearms professionally, I have always worked with tools alongside topnotch tradesmen, though.

    You can hear the difference between the saws while cutting. The Milwaukee sounds like it bugs down quite a bit more. I'm a fan of whichever tool makes me money. I do not mind the Flex Volt element, of having to buy a new battery to run the DeWalt saw, since these new batteries offer more AH while running at 18v and are backwards compatible with other 18v DeWalt tools. Nice video.

      @schm147 Před 2 lety +2

      "any M18 battery" is misleading. This saw will quickly put any M18 battery into thermal overload except the 8HO and HD12. That's only 2 batteries that are realistically usable with this saw. Whereas the DeWalt will work perfectly with any of the 3 (now 4) flexvolt batteries.

    I'm a contractor/rope access tech and I bought into Milwaukee because of the 12v lineup but as my needs grew the 18v lineup came into play. Now I'm slowly transitioning to Dewalt. When I see a side by side comparison like this I don't think it looks like one beats the other. Where the win comes for me is with service. I can drive 10 minutes to the Dewalt service center (have never had to) where as with Milwaukee I've had to mail out multiple tools for electronic issues. I lose them for a solid month since I have to ship it to Mississippi for repairs. That probably doesn't matter as much for the DIY folks but for me, it's a huge deal! Glad they are both battling each other for top dog. We all win when that happens.

    I am heavily invested in the Milwaukee lineup already so that's where I'd go if I chose to get a cordless rear handle. The reason I'm on the Milwaukee m18- m12 platforms is that I found that they offered the best combination of features, price, innovation and warranty. When you combine all those attributes it makes the decision a no brainier. Also since they are the pioneer of 18 volt battery platform they often the rights to it. That makes them committed to it financially which means consumers will not need to invest in a new battery lineup anytime soon, something that dewalt can not claim.

    • @jeffpowell8308
      @jeffpowell8308 Před 4 lety

      @tinker bee I've since purchased the m18 and after several months of usage I absolutely compare it favorably to my corded saw. I'm supremely satisfied with it and will never use my corded again, unless I need to cut masonry on occasion that I don't want to subject my corded saws to. I've already sacrificed my corded porter cable to this task so I don't have any objections to doing it again.

    • @jeffpowell8308
      @jeffpowell8308 Před 4 lety

      @tinker bee actually the opposite is true. Ever since they introduced the brushless fuel line up they had incredible power. All of the m18 batteries are backwards compatible with the m18 line up. They are all the same voltage. Whereas with flex volt batteries they are not backwards comparable with the 20 (you know that 20 is really marketing BS right? It's really only 18 once the current starts to flow) volt line up of tools so while I can put my 12 amp hour batteries in my impact driver, drill, sawzall or work light and get improved performance and much longer run time, you can't do that with a flex volt battery and 20 volt tools.

    • @jeffpowell8308
      @jeffpowell8308 Před 4 lety

      @tinker bee my point about backwards compatability is that you had to buy flex volt tools that are duplicates of any 20 volt tool you already might have had to get the higher performance and run time. While I can just slip the new milwaukee batteries into my existing M18 tools. That makes them more economical. Your assertions that the flex volt work better is unfounded. I've used the flex volt and I prefer the Milwaukee. They do everything that I need and more. Plus they have a more extensive line up of tools. I do multiple trades and their plumbing tools are great. They also save wear and tear on the body by doing things easily that normally would have to be done manually, like cutting copper tubing. While we should just agree to disagree about which one we prefer but the facts that differentiate to two brands are just that, facts.

    • @jeffpowell8308
      @jeffpowell8308 Před 4 lety

      @tinker bee no I was and continue to be very impressed and happy with all of my milwaukee tools. The bigger batteries are just icing on the cake. I have a number of the tools and I really like having all the M18 batteries being able to run on any of the tools. So I don't have to get a second set of tools or batteries. Even the table saw will run on the 4 so hour battery in a pinch. It won't last nearly as long but it still works. My miter box only needs 1 battery. Plus I have their dual voltage rapid charger (because I have a lot of the 12 tools as well) that is the only one on the market thus far that charges 3 batteries simultaneously and 40 faster. And I can use the same batteries for my lawn care equipment. It all just makes owning them very efficient and convenient. The chain saw and string trimmer are incredible. The table saw is more powerful than any of the 4 corded models I owned in the last 30 years. I don't know how they do it but they get incredible power and run time out of a single 18 volt battery.

    • @jeffpowell8308
      @jeffpowell8308 Před 4 lety

      @tinker bee as much as possible I have the fuel brushless unless they don't make a particular tool in a brushless model like the planer. I'm happy your happy with your dewalt. I used to own dewalt nicad 18 volt 15 years ago. I was adopted soured on dewalt when my brand new hammer drill was broken right out of the box. After I had it repaired under warranty it broke again after minimal usage just after their then very short term warranty ended. I had several old school corded milwaukee tools that I love so when they pioneered the use of lithium ion batteries I was very impressed. I still have my original m18 drill and impact. Plus I really appreciate their warranty. It's 5 years and you don't need to register and they don't argue. I abused the m18 impact by using it on 1/2" lag bolts and carriage bolts which it was not designed for. Still they rebuilt it when it was 4 years old for free. They have proved to me that they provide the best value for the money with innovative features, great design from real world input from the trades and the best warranty in case a user abuse the tool. I've never had one be broken out of the box either.

  • @frankmmiii
    @frankmmiii Před 2 lety

    They look exactly alike except for the color. The draw back for the Dewalt is the completely different battery but I was never a Dewalt fan anyway. I have always liked Porter Cable and pretty much stuck with them until I saw an ad in the Ace Hardware flyer for the Milwaukee M12 combo that had the drill and 1/4" impact driver with two batteries and a charger with a nice canvas Milwaukee bag. I picked them up over two years ago and loved how they felt in the hands and the compactness as opposed to my Porter Cable 20v MAX Lithium drill and 1/4" impact which aren't that much bigger. Their ability to do what I need them to do like screwing down Hardi Backer for underlayment to my porcelain tile floor in my kitchen. I was switching out between my Porter Cable impact and my Milwaukee M12 and both did admirably. So I saw a video that boasted Milwaukee's 3/8" impact having as much torque or more than their 1/2" impact gun. I bought the 3/8" impact and a M18 3.0 Ah High Output battery and charger combo which then led me to buy the Milwaukee Rear Handle 7-1/4" saw tested here. And of course I needed a bigger battery, so I bought a 8.0 Ah High Output M18 battery and I also picked up a 4.0 Ah 20v MAX Lithium battery for my Porter Cable 20v MAX 6-1/2" circular saw. Everything but the kitchen sink.

    Kit should include a 12ah battery already. Looks like a good saw
    Milwaukee m18 circular saw
    Improvement: Battery to sit lower, bevel lock should be better, Add your bevel stops, lol. Looks like a good saw. Nice that it can use any 18v batteries.
    Now, DeWalt should look into making a 20v 6 1/2" left side blade Brushless already or even a 20v 7 1/4" left side saw. They will need to make some higher amp 20v batteries ie: (8.0 , 9.0 or 12ah) with 21700 cells. I see the advantage of a 60v power but not everyone is on the flexvolt battery line. DeWalt needs to update some of their 20v tools line already. This way they will have two strong lines.

    Haven’t tried the Milwaukee, I have the dewalt. Everyone I work with hates the weight but I’m the smallest guy on the crew so I think they’re a bunch of babies. I usually run the flex 9ah battery in it for its longevity and if I’m framing all day I might need to change it out once closer to the end of the day, MAYBE. I personally love the weight of the saw because I’ve never had this saw kickback on me and I think the weight has a lot to do with that. I’ve cut a ridge vent open a coupes weeks ago on an existing roof about 30ft long and it literally cut roofing nails perfectly in half. I was using an old 24 tooth framing blade and it already had a few teeth missing. When I finished both sides I realized the blade had lost more than half its teeth (the blade was a crap off brand blade our shop carries anyway), but I seriously didn’t even notice the saw bog down at all so I thought it was fine. After seeing this video I could definitely tell the dewalt cuts a second or two faster. It literally rips and cross cuts 2x PT like it’s KD, I don’t really notice a difference. Like I said, haven’t tried the Milwaukee but the speed of cuts has to add up to a few more minutes when framing all day and time is money. But it all comes down to what you’re comfortable with and what system you’re already working with. I will say, I hated the safety button on the dewalt so I disassembled the handle and removed the plastic safety button completely and put it back together, taped up the hole and now I can just pull the trigger. Just don’t tell the boss about that little hack if you decide to follow suit though lol and don’t blame me if you don’t know how to use a saw and lose an extremity 😂

    For anyone that complains about the angle adjustment lever spinning too freely for the Milwaukee just insert a small spring (tension spring) between the saw and the washer on the bolt and that will keep it tight.

    • @lunderdragon
      @lunderdragon Před 2 lety

      How often do you really use the angle adjustable for mitre cuts in the real world? I personally "free hand" bevels on the bottom of rafters, tops of hips ect. It's much faster and unless you need the cut to be extremely precise, and if you have any skill as a cutter you're damn within a degree or 2 anyways so it's rare I ever touch the lever.

    i am shopping for the 775 right now,,,but after seeing your tool duel...i like that led that Milwaukee has..i think i will hold out a little longer,, and now pricing an m18...thanks! i believe dewalt is the better, more "construction based" tools and milwaukee is for homeowners...but i will do my homework...still leaning towards dewalt though~~ . and i am not partial to being on one platform for all my tools...makita has good impact/screw guns now,,and i have the battery and charger for them too..its the individual tool i make my purchases for.....AND the milwaukee is $100 bucks more?!?! •  Před 4 lety +1

    sure you can use any 18 volt battery with Milwaukee but try doing the same test with a 5ah battery........ You will ruin the battery or wont be able to use the saws whole potential. In the end you are stuck with using 12ah Milwaukee batteries or using flexvolt 9ah with Dewalt.

    People don’t realize that the normal m18 batteries can’t run their high power tools like this and the angle grinder, you have to invest in the high output m18 batteries like the 12.0 used here. So either way if you’re in the 20v max or m18 you have to invest in new batteries

  • @hridd1
    @hridd1 Před 4 lety +1

    I'd go with the DeWalt beacause that's the platform I'm in and also the ergonomics of the DeWalt seem better overall. The proud battery of the Milwaukee would get on my nerves. I still haven't found that one 18v Milwaukee tool that I have to have. I do love my 12v Milwaukee tools though. Milwaukee's marketing is pretty cringeworthy, Dewalt's isn't much better.
    The thing is about the batteries is that the 18v/20v batteries are going to have to put out three times the amps to produce the same watts as 54v/60v batteries, the higher volt batteries should run cooler. Just because you can run the new Milwaukee table saw and rear handle saw on a 3.0 battery doesn't mean you should.

    • @mylesmastersen3520
      @mylesmastersen3520 Před 4 lety +1

      harveyR my thoughts exactly. You may use the 12ah battery in another m18 tool but you won’t use a smaller battery in the higher demand tools. Flexvolt batteries are also completely compatible with all the 20 volt max tools. It is exactly the same principle.

    Dewalt definitely won, but its impressive what Milwaukee gets done with the 18b battery. Just hear the motor strain when ripping the 4x4, huge difference... sounds like the Milwaukee would bind a bit easier, could be wrong 🤷‍♂️
    Something that is worrisome is the dust buildup on the Milwaukee! I have seen a few other posts with similar if not worse dust build up doing normal cuts

    Everyone keeps saying you can just any Milwaukee battery on their new tools, while true isn't entirely true either. Unless your using one of the new high output batteries, performance and runtime is heavily affected... Throw a 4 or 5 ah in there and try making those cuts again... The battery will go into protection mode and that's it for that... You can throw a battery in there and make a few basic cuts in a 2x4 but that's it

    See, what happens is this: I tune into a video. Once I get there, I find out that 89.7% of the time, if you are on the DeWeys, you are talking about the Flex Volt. And that just causes me to go out googling, to find out how my shot stacks up to the shit of those who chose to go the Flex Volt way.
    OK, so here they are saying 5800 RPM. It isn't usually the case, but it happens to be the case this time that the Flex Volt's spinny thingie goes faster than my spinny thingie. Fair enough. BUT...my 574 (the power detect) is giving out 5500. So even when Power Detect loses one, it's not by very much at all. But importantly, while UI gave up 300 RPM...I did not have to let Lowes curbside put one of those Brontosaurus batteries on the side of my truck and flip it over.
    Haha...I still like my decisions.

    Milwaukee all the way. It lasts longer on a single battery then what the DeWalt does plus the DeWalt battery is front-loaded. Meaning you don't get the same amount of power through time as you do with the Milwaukee. Also the Milwaukee's not going to burn up as fast. But if you're looking for something I guess more value for your buck because it was cheaper than by all means get the DeWalt

    You cannot just stick any old Milwaukee battery in this saw and think it will perform the same way. You must use their HP batteries. The same as DeWalt moving their pro level tools to the 60volt platform. Bottom line here is if you want either one of these saws your going to be buying the kit or the new very expressive batteries.

      Whether you use a worm drive or a sidewinder is more of a geographical thing than anything. In my region everyone uses sidewinders. In other regions people only use worm drives. Neither are right or wrong cause no matter which one you use houses are still getting built along with everything else

      When I framed in the Midwest, we only used sidewinders, with the exception of one old timer that brought his own worm drive. Now when working with west coast guys, they swore by worm drives, called sidewinders home owner saws, sidewinders never kept me from making a buck.
