- 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa is a game that, despite its unattractive name, does a good job of presenting some of the same great soccer action that we saw from FIFA 10, but now features a healthy dose of World Cup flair.
8 years on and it's still my all-time favourite Fifa game. The attention to detail and love that went into recreating the entire tournament from qualification to the finals was insane

@@Adam65510 It is still on the market but for Xbox 360 and PS3, so if you have one of those then buy it, or you can buy any of the consoles, they are still on sale.
2022 and STILL playing this!!!! The players run smoothly, look slender and sleek, big tall strikers like Ibrahimavic and Drogba and Ronaldo and Henry actually look tall in the game!! Not big and bulky looking player models!!!!! Great game!!!

The player movement on this is so much better and more natural than any of the recent frostbite engine FIFA games, embarrassing

The pitches look a lot more realistic in this game than any other fifa IMO

One thing that really hit me with this game, is that the graphics look beautiful. I've never really noticed the graphics in previous FIFA games.
The best thing is that it had EVERY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD

I agree with you. I do think it's stupid to get mad at someone who calls is soccer. It is called the world's game which means fans should embrace different cultures even if it is as subtle as calling it soccer instead of football.
Let me tell you a few annoying things about this video: You CAN'T call up new players if they aren't already in there, (eg. Samuel is not in the Argentina squad, Totti, Nesta aren't in Italy) plus the overalls especially for players in teams that aren't qualified are extremely unfair, (Gaouaoui overall is 70, he's arguably the best goalkeeper in Africa suited by Man Utd.) and finally it looks like a less sophisticated version of FIFA10 with more national teams but more limited options.

All those who say that this is the same as FIFA 10 (in gameplay) obviously dont get football. As a solid Pro Evo player for years, I havent found one fifa game properly playable until World Cup 2010. The running, control and everything is much more fluid, weighted and realistic. This is the best football game I have played and after PES3 and 5 thats saying a lot. FIFA 10 has big issues and is more like old FIFAs in terms of unrealisticness and annoying controls
@OrcWyvern I think you misunderstood me there, I don't call it European Football, I just call it football, but it depends who I'm talking to. For example, if I'm talking to my friends/team mates, we refer to the game as soccer, but if I'm talking to my friends from Antigua, I refer to it as football. I respect both names.
Football is the name given to many codes of a game played with a ball and a goal at each end. Each code is just as real as any other.
"Soccer" is short for "association football". It was invented in the UK, where it was called football. Then the US invented their own kind of "football", so came up with "soccer" to differentiate the 2 - "Brits", already having "football", called the US version "American football". Most soccer fans worldwide call it "football", so if you don't know the nationality of who you're talking to, as is the case often with CZcams, I'd recommend making the distinction.
Why doesn't any of the reviewers mentions the balls and players are more separate than before, You can play balls through oppositions legs. In fifa 10 if a pass went near a opposition player they would automatically get it. What is also new is you can now get keepers sent off, and its much easier for them to hack you out in the box trying to collect the ball. The deflections are more realistic and you can challenge keepers to get the ball in the air etc . Why miss out those details?

Your right they should kepp the servers up for future purposes so i can get all the squads that were actually used in the tournement.

@kayfparts Depends, if your more into Football Clubs and Premiere Leagues etc then get Fifa 10, or wait until PES 2011/Fifa 11.

Do you really think North Americans think it's wrong that we call football football. And anyway do you think that we are going to stop calling it football so that we're sure that we don't insult Europeans? And you're right no one is ever going to come forward and say we're wrong, and there is a reason why that will never happen because we haven't done anything wrong. And it's not "your" sport it's the world's sport!
Reasons for the 8.3: This game doesnt have as much online game modes,for example : no Team play,and i dont think this has clubs.

I was impressed with this review. Usually you yanks never really know what your talking about when review 'football' games. I'm glad such a great sport is being understood in the US of A. Next you might get us Brits into 'american football', fat chance though.

I think this man just didn't have enough time to play the game, so he bashed the no simulation. I have FIFA 10 and this, and I play this more, cos I find the presentation noticeably bettter. And I think the control customization is just fine, actually. If you play FIFA enough, then you shouldn't have to customize them. This guy, just reviewed it for reviewing sake. He didn't put too much thought of the game in terms of owning it.

Why did they shut the online servers for this game down so early. I used to like playing this online. They should keep the servers up for the one that will come out next year up longer so that we have enough time to get the online achievements.
Good thing is the game will go budget really quickly like 06 WC and euro did, Remember picking up euro for 30aus :D
i think they should have turned off the servers when world cup 2014 comes around. i mean every time the new fifa comes out the old one's servers get turned off
This game is pretty good, but it gets boring after winning the cup a few times, (even on legendary). Online play is all good, but people tend to quit when you are up 3 zip.

@Thgrt0 Dude, there's a difference between American English and British English. Such as colour-color, lift-elevator, etc. Soccer and football are in the same category.

I was very dismissive of this game as another money grabber from EA but looking at the gameplay it actually looks like it plays alot better. The animations are smoother, the AI is smarter and the graphics are crisper. I just might buy this as long as it is no more than £20
But does this mean that FIFA 11 wont be as much of an improvement? You bet your ass it does. This is basically FIFA 10.5 world cup edition.

No simulating and he's pissed about that? Seriously? If you dont wanna simulate, then switch the tournament you're gonna play in. Don't play the whole thing, just go for the World Cup straight off.
And why would you wanna customize the gameplay, anyway? It's a solid layout, you could just try to get used to it.
BUT even if these things bother you, Mr. Ahearn, why chop off 1.7 of the rating? These problems can just be worth a 1, i guess. Unfair review.

Yeah because North America has never accepted soccer. That explains why the U.S.A womans team is in the world cup final. Not to mention there is entire league based in both Canada and the U.S.A but I guess the MLS is just a joke eh? So soccer may not be as big here as it is in England but it's safe to say that soocer has been accepted over here. Also, football is already a sport over here. If you say football people think NFL. That is why people in North America call it soccer and not football.
@DeadPixel00 Agreed. It was alright back in the PS1/N64 and PS2/Xbox times cos games were cheaper then but charging £40/$60 for what is essentially an expansion is just unreasonable
