    obvious things missed:
    - lampard disallowed goal
    - forlan only guy to tame the jabulani
    - casillas one-on-one save vs robben

      Nobody mentions Robben's karate kick to the chest of Xabi Alonso, I'm Spanish but my favourite players were Pablo Aimar, and when he retired, Robben. That final was a bitter sweet to me, yeah full of happiness but I also saw the worst part of my current (at that time) Childhood Hero.
      Btw great catch, completely forgot about Forlan taming that untamable ball x)

I was in the middle of it all, working at the Sandton convention centre as a hostess and PA to the a man from Britain who was part of organising team of the world cup. To the "Lampard goal" comments, yes it would have made the Germany-England game really close and prbly. a nail biter, but if you look at the great picture: do you really think that they would have had a realistic chance to win the tournament against Spain, or even Argentinia and the Netherlands?
    Sometimes you can think of that not allowed goal was literally the decision to give away England's world cup. By the way they didn't mentin the 1966 Wembley goal in their series either, so uMAXit stayed kind of consistent not getting hung up on hard to evalute impact events.

    Overall yeah the football was pretty boring in most games, like the final. Jeez what a snooze fest. But it had its fair share of drama and exciting games. Ghana vs Uruguay, Slovenia vs Italy, Brazil vs Netherlands, and Uruguay vs Germany were all fantastic games! Overall, the football was a bit dull but it had more than its fair share of drama and intrigue. A very memorable World Cup to me.

      I'm Uruguayan but my two favorite games were of course Uruguay vs Germany and Slovakia vs the Netherlands. Nobody remembers how even those matches were, particularly the Netherlands vs Slovakia, most people like goals, I don't, I preffer even matches and Slovakia vs the Netherlands was the most even match of the whole tournament.

    • @Rorschach1030
      @Rorschach1030 Před 7 lety

      BurnRoddy I agree. And I'm Peruvian I'm praying that Peru qualifies for the World Cup this year! Beating la Celeste saved our chances of qualifying jaja.

    • @BurnRoddy
      @BurnRoddy Před 7 lety

      Yup we were in the middle of a drought at the time. It such a shame that we played our most important friendly match, against Italy, right there, when the qualifiers started Tabarez was suspended and Celso Otero took over. We went on a 6 match undefeated run (most of them without Suarez) with zero goals conceded at home then Tabárez came over for the Copa America Centenario and it was a disaster and at the qualifiers we lost our first match against Argentina. Then we thrashed Paraguay and Venezuela at home but the team wasn't as convincing as before the Copa America Centenario, we were very lucky in those matches not to concede early on and we capitalized, Uruguay defense is historically good but we were a flabby mess there particularly in the midfield. Despite that we managed to be on the second spot with 25 goals scored and only 7 goals conceded. Then we played a good and away match against Chile yet lost 3-1,then came Brazil at full force and demolished us at home with gusto and with the friendlies against Italy and Ireland, the match against Peru and the draw against Argentina we went 6 matches without a win concding 14 goals and scoring only 4. Gotta say tho, I wanted Peru instead of Ecuador in Brazil 2014 because of the amount of great players retiring for the NT, but this time if one team saddens me that is probably not going to make it that's Paraguay they started like they would go have a chance at qualifying but they went six feet down under too soon too fast, they can still do it but is not in their grasp and is extremely hard at this point.

    • @Rorschach1030
      @Rorschach1030 Před 7 lety

      BurnRoddy Wow I totally forgot Tabarez was suspended. Well it all turned out alright in the end since now you guys have the easiest schedule remaining. Peru has deserved to go to the World Cup for a while now but the form and discipline we are showing hasn't been seen in a while. Paolo Guerrero is really at the top of his game (Just ask Diego Godin hahaha 😉) Edison Flores has been great for us and Cristian Cueva and Andre Carrillo and Corzo have totally improved their game and I can finally confidently say I think Peru will go the World Cup in 2018. I think what Uruguay needs more than anything is a good midfield. Christian Rodriguez and Carlos Sanchez are aging and I feel like it's showing.

      Pancho Villa, Germany's 3rd and 4th goal were counter attacks of the sort you don't get the opportunity to score when the scores are level in a knockout match. It would be ridiculous to claim England would have won had the linesman not been incompetent, but it's also equally ridiculous to claim Germany would have still won the game.

    • @rstinger94
      @rstinger94 Před 7 lety

      Bob McBob that wasn't the ref's incompetence, that's karma for stealing a world cup.. England did so in 1966 and in the same exact way, they were robbed.. Coincidence???

    • @biscuitsandbananas3433
      @biscuitsandbananas3433 Před 7 lety

      @1. No one can say with exact confidence weather or not the 1966 goal crossed the line or not. It bounces somewhere near the line, but it's impossible to prove it 100% either way, mainly because the cameras available at the time weren't up the standards of 2010. So, no, what happened in 1966 is not comparable to 2010 because in 2010 everyone can see with 100% certainty that it was over the line. In 1966, there is no conclusive proof either way.
