- 2010 World Cup was the first held in Africa, a fact that marks it out as special. South Africa were chosen as the hosts amid the now-standard FIFA controversy, and delivered a tournament which might not have been the competitions most exciting, but was replete with story and romance.

⚽⚽⚽ Tifo Football, formerly uMAXit Football, taking an illustrated look into the beautiful game. ⚽⚽⚽
obvious things missed:
- lampard disallowed goal
- forlan only guy to tame the jabulani
- casillas one-on-one save vs robben
Nobody mentions Robben's karate kick to the chest of Xabi Alonso, I'm Spanish but my favourite players were Pablo Aimar, and when he retired, Robben. That final was a bitter sweet to me, yeah full of happiness but I also saw the worst part of my current (at that time) Childhood Hero.
Btw great catch, completely forgot about Forlan taming that untamable ball x)
@@faylure9985 *nigel de jong was the one Kung fu kicking Xabi Alonso
How is there no mentioning of Paul the psychic octopus??? 😂😂😂
Priince Brvce RIP
😂
What a beast he was! Choosing which shrimp he choose in which box was the team that ended up winning like 8 times in a row 😂👏
I could have swore his name was Ollie the Octopus until I read this comment
South park hilariously copied the octopus for their family guy ripping lol the joke creator lol
Portugal 7-0 North Korea?
New Zealand undefeated run?
The magic octopus?
Lampard’s goal against Germany?
Italy’s group stage elimination?
So many things missing...
David Cabral how about US goal vs Algeria by Mr. Donovan?! Tbh the 2010 world cup got me into ⚽️ a lot, although Italy winning in 2006 was awesome too
Miami nobody besides US citizens really cared for that one 😶
@@MrVictorPhineas actually ive talked to many people who arent americans and they thought it was spectacular
my first and best world cup😣😢😷
@@MrVictorPhineas One of the fastest counter attacks I’ve ever seen.
This was the best World Cup in a long time. The energy and atmosphere were absolutely amazing!
Exactly!
Okaaay
Best world cup ever, best time of my life. I was in the middle of it all, working at the Sandton convention centre as a hostess and PA to the a man from Britain who was part of organising team of the world cup. Somewhere in the world I have pictures with greatest footballers in the world. Some how I found myself amongst the greatest, just an ordinary girl from Soweto. Best time of my life.
Really loved this World Cup looking back at it know..
My favourite world cup as a Kiwi as we were undefeated and we drew with the world cup champions then
Gutted there was no mention of tat
Tyler G New Zealand went home the only undefeated side in the tournament, and should've beaten Italy if not for a bad penalty late in the game
Simon Henry the penalty was in the first half, but we definitely deserved to beat them, that penalty call was so soft. It was a truly unbelievable time to be a New Zealand football fan
I wished they made it out of the group ad somehow made it out of the R16 and quarters
Man Ghana were so close to the Semi-Finals.
ADAJ3 until the dog aka Suarez caught a handball.
ADAJ3 that was heart breaking.... Could have been the first African side in a semi final
dont make me cry
The whole continent cried that day
in south america we all celebrated
As a German my favorite tournament yet.
I loved the vuvuzelas they added something special. Like you knew that was different.. not club football it was the World Cup and it felt like it.
2014?!
This world cup actually got me into football. Watching Puyol fire the winner against Germany really won me over. Also the Kiwis exceeded expectations
Netherlands reached the final and got one little mention?
@ At least you still won
This was one hell of a world cup. I loved every minute of it.
And NZ were only team unbeaten
lol I thought the new zealand soccer team was a joke.
7 years ago....jesus my 20's have flown

This was the best world cup. I enjoyed every minute of the world cup 2010
Even though 2010 was not the best World Cup, the atmosphere in my country was unimaginable. It was truly amazing and I will never forget it. Every time I see videos like this about 2010 I get goosebumps and I almost want to cry from the memories
Which country you from bro?
Ghana so deserved to go through to the semifinals 😢 That Uruguay game was perhaps the most memorable game of the 2010 World Cup and also an upsetting one.
the 2010 wold cup was my favorite
Vuvuzela
the soundtrack (waving flag, Waka Waka)
the drama (Lampard disallowed goal, Uruguay vs Ghana, etc)
the romance (Suarez crying suddenly become excitedly happy after the missed penalty, Iniesta celebration for the late Dani Jarque, etc)
such great memories that this world cup has created!
Let's go South Africa
I was 6, it was the first WC I would remember. For me, the most unforgettable things were the octupus, Uruguay's Loco Abreu, Spain squad, Jabulani, vuvuzelas and the Japanese squad (because I started liking soccer because of Inazuma 11, a Japanese soccer cartoon).
Should have talked about Netherlands-Brazil. Best quarterfinal of the tournament.
Still cry every time someone mentions it. God damnit Melo, you were so good until then.
+kibkake Yes but i gotta say the Brazil 2010 squad was just not as good as the 2006 or 2002 one.
You must have missed Uruguay vs Ghana. Absolute drama
I really miss the 2010 world cup in South Africa. "Ke Nako" was the slogan. Best world cup I really enjoyed everything about the world cup.
My country 😉😉 thank you tifo
Finally in Africa I hope we will host it again some day
The hype from this edition will never fade from my memory, a 7 years old boy by that time. Every kids start playing football because of this.
Narrator: "...the jabulani ball became infamous as long range shot after long range shot flew over the bar."
Diego Forlán: hold my shots (if you can).
Best football videos on CZcams. Can't praise you enough
Thanks Blair! Glad you're enjoying them. You can really help us out by sharing some of your preferred videos with your friends. If you can find the time, we'd really appreciate it!
- Joe
You're slowly becoming one of my favorite channels on here. Great video once again! Only remark: How was the Spain side in 2010 less thrilling? I remember to really enjoy watching them. They played great possession football with a lethal David Villa up front.
Thank you! Mm, that's probably a question for Alex. I shall endeavour to ask him when he's next on our podcast.
- Joe
This won't get the thumbs up as it's not for big countries but could you please do a video on African football tactics such as the 2002 Senegal team or the 2012 Zambia team that won the afcon against ivory Coast
Mahrez Mirising that would actually be a very good video to watch.ive always been a fan of African football
There was no mention of Frank Lampard controversial goal against Germany, which the game might have turn out differently
James Humphreys I was thinking about out
James Humphreys They might make a separate video on that
James Humphreys beacouse everyone is sick of it
James Humphreys No chance we still would've found a way to lose
oh shut up. There is to much about english teams anyway. You have been shit since 1966
To the "Lampard goal" comments, yes it would have made the Germany-England game really close and prbly. a nail biter, but if you look at the great picture: do you really think that they would have had a realistic chance to win the tournament against Spain, or even Argentinia and the Netherlands?
Sometimes you can think of that not allowed goal was literally the decision to give away England's world cup. By the way they didn't mentin the 1966 Wembley goal in their series either, so uMAXit stayed kind of consistent not getting hung up on hard to evalute impact events.
World Cup 2010 was so super exciting.
You can say that it wasn't entertaining. But ask any tourist who was there at the time, they were in a spectacular environment. We hosted by far the best World Cup to date. Not the football played, but the spirit of the game and fans!
Connor Smith yeah I was trying to capture the fact that it was sort of brilliant even though the football was a bit dry at times.
Even the World Cup songs were absolutely great.
Konrad von Schnitzeldorf That's the main reason I like the 2010WC so much. The 2014 song was so bad.
Connor Smith one of the worst world cups to date. The only thing it got right was that it had a deserved winner.
PWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
There's your synopsis of the 2010 World Cup.
best worldcup ever❤️❤️❤️❤️ i wish i could travel to this time of my life
I was 11 when this World Cup happened and it made me fall in love with football. This was a damn good World Cup
Favorite WC atmosphere was always buzzing 👏🏼👏🏼
Personally i think this was a far better World cup than the 2014 World cup in Brazil
The quality of the games wasn't always great, but for sheer drama, narratives, controversy and plain insanity, this is my all time favourite World Cup. Oh, and Shakira of course.
P.S. You butchered Tschabalala's name 😂
never forgive Suarez for what he did to Ghana!
I cried for Ghana - Danny
Saul Goodman nothing is wrong with what Suarez did, and it was done before at a world cup.. You get a penalty, score it and we would not be here speaking of Suarez.. Suarez plays with his heart and that was a brave move.. Ghana is worthless to have not converted a penalty on 120 minutes
Saul Goodman but it still remains that you get a penalty on 120 mins, you don't miss it.. That's a free goal
1 for sure. But there is nothing inherently wrong with missing a penalty. But it is cheating yo purposely handle the ball on the line in the last minute, then celebrate the penalty miss. For that he will be remembered as a cheat.
Saul Goodman lol I can't get enough of Suarez's reaction when I watch the video.. But somebody has got to be the villain and another be hero.. I know many defenders would do the same
Why is there a picture of Mario Götze in the thumbnail? He wasn't even part of Germany's squad back then.
They've changed it. It was Iniesta and Götze when the video was posted.
Pics or it didn't happen
protapirus what is this website is it like a web time machine
protapirus People like you are so jarring, just be happy with the video and move on with your life.
"People like you"... Guess you've got me all figured out because of one CZcams comment. They've made a little mistake, I've pointed it out, they've corrected it. So what's your fucking problem?
What Happened to A History Of The World Cup 2002 and 2006 ... The last i saw was 1998?
We chose 7 tournaments to cover since 1930, so not all will have been selected. 2002/2006 didn't make the cut!
- Joe
2002 would've been interesting, considering the two-hosts, tournament on asian soil and controversy regarding refs helping korea.
And Germany lol
Also, South Africa 2010 was Manuel Neuer's breakthrough. He was amazing that world cup and he wouldn't even have played if it wasn't for Adler unfortunately getting injured before the World Cup started. They were both never the same again...
Hans Olo Fun Fact: Neuer was 3rd germany gk, and as you said first gk Adler was injured while second gk jumped in front of a train. and that's how neuer became the best goalkeeper of this decade decade
who was the keeper that commited suicide again?
Konrad von Schnitzeldorf Robert Enke iirc
Robert Enke actually was the first gk.
One of the most memorable world cup for sure
boy this video should have been 20 + minutes and that just a brief... i don't know about other people thoughts but for me 2010 is the best World cup ever.
No Netherlands vs Brazil mentioned but England vs USA is featured... a little bit curious for my taste
Wow It’s been 10 years
Such a nice WC this was, and Waka Waka😍
I freakin love these videos
Wayne Rooney trying to lecture England fans on loyalty was hilarious.
This was the time when football became a huge part of my life..good times
my first and best world cup😢😷
Brilliant tournament in my home town. Keep up the great work umaxit, I love your videos
Thanks Zubair!
- Joe
Make a video on ( _predicting_ ) the contenders & assessing them for the next WC?
You didn't mention the controversial lampard goal that wasn't at 2-1! Arguably one of the biggest moments people wanted goal line technology in football
4:31-4:34 I don’t know why, but that might be my favorite sentence ever.
I feel like the violence in the final was worth a mention, I've never seen anything like it since. Bloodbath.
My fav world cup of all time mostly because my fav team won (spain)
world cup 2010 was totally dominated by Barcelona players. Good old days 😀
Why does everyone have weird brown noses?
I like how Frank Lampard is on the subscribe screen
1:55 “USA WINS 1-1” 😂😂
May NOT have been the most memorable in terms of excitement but their sound and the instruments used from the crowd will NEVER be forgotten even if you want to lol
you didn't mentioned Italy, the main shock... Nobody cares if England gets knocked out. It is what they as a national team and it's clubs do best
Probably the best music we ever had in a world cup
Great World Cup. Thanks to the Catalan players Spain won the World Cup.
Your videos are the BEST !
Netherlands should have won the tournament had Robben not missed that 64 minutes one-on-one with Casillas. Damn Robben that day.
U forgot to mention that New Zealand were the only undefeated team at the tournament but they didn’t make it past the group stages
best world cup ever held for me
I thought it was a brilliant World Cup.
No mention of Diego Forlan? He mastered the jabulani
2010 world cup was the best ever world cup
Love the content, and this channel. Just wondering, have you considered covering the women's football tournaments too?
AFMakers yes! Danny & Matt are over there right now. Checkout the channel for the playlist - 2 episodes down already. Neil
Loved this World Cup. However, wish vuvzelas never existed.
By far the best world cup in my lifetime, maybe the best ever?
Not the competition’s most exciting?! Are you crazy? You really must be out of your mind.
Overall yeah the football was pretty boring in most games, like the final. Jeez what a snooze fest. But it had its fair share of drama and exciting games. Ghana vs Uruguay, Slovenia vs Italy, Brazil vs Netherlands, and Uruguay vs Germany were all fantastic games! Overall, the football was a bit dull but it had more than its fair share of drama and intrigue. A very memorable World Cup to me.
Couldn't agree more - Danny
I'm Uruguayan but my two favorite games were of course Uruguay vs Germany and Slovakia vs the Netherlands. Nobody remembers how even those matches were, particularly the Netherlands vs Slovakia, most people like goals, I don't, I preffer even matches and Slovakia vs the Netherlands was the most even match of the whole tournament.
BurnRoddy I agree. And I'm Peruvian I'm praying that Peru qualifies for the World Cup this year! Beating la Celeste saved our chances of qualifying jaja.
Yup we were in the middle of a drought at the time. It such a shame that we played our most important friendly match, against Italy, right there, when the qualifiers started Tabarez was suspended and Celso Otero took over. We went on a 6 match undefeated run (most of them without Suarez) with zero goals conceded at home then Tabárez came over for the Copa America Centenario and it was a disaster and at the qualifiers we lost our first match against Argentina. Then we thrashed Paraguay and Venezuela at home but the team wasn't as convincing as before the Copa America Centenario, we were very lucky in those matches not to concede early on and we capitalized, Uruguay defense is historically good but we were a flabby mess there particularly in the midfield. Despite that we managed to be on the second spot with 25 goals scored and only 7 goals conceded. Then we played a good and away match against Chile yet lost 3-1,then came Brazil at full force and demolished us at home with gusto and with the friendlies against Italy and Ireland, the match against Peru and the draw against Argentina we went 6 matches without a win concding 14 goals and scoring only 4. Gotta say tho, I wanted Peru instead of Ecuador in Brazil 2014 because of the amount of great players retiring for the NT, but this time if one team saddens me that is probably not going to make it that's Paraguay they started like they would go have a chance at qualifying but they went six feet down under too soon too fast, they can still do it but is not in their grasp and is extremely hard at this point.
BurnRoddy Wow I totally forgot Tabarez was suspended. Well it all turned out alright in the end since now you guys have the easiest schedule remaining. Peru has deserved to go to the World Cup for a while now but the form and discipline we are showing hasn't been seen in a while. Paolo Guerrero is really at the top of his game (Just ask Diego Godin hahaha 😉) Edison Flores has been great for us and Cristian Cueva and Andre Carrillo and Corzo have totally improved their game and I can finally confidently say I think Peru will go the World Cup in 2018. I think what Uruguay needs more than anything is a good midfield. Christian Rodriguez and Carlos Sanchez are aging and I feel like it's showing.
Dani Jarque siempre con nosotros.
:)
First! Awesome vid as always
Will not forget the Lampard's strike against Germany, if that had been given the game would had been entirely different.
Sunil Prajapati it would probably have finished 4-2, face it, england can't beat germany
Of course, germany would have beaten them but game would have been more entertaining to watch.
Pancho Villa, Germany's 3rd and 4th goal were counter attacks of the sort you don't get the opportunity to score when the scores are level in a knockout match. It would be ridiculous to claim England would have won had the linesman not been incompetent, but it's also equally ridiculous to claim Germany would have still won the game.
Bob McBob that wasn't the ref's incompetence, that's karma for stealing a world cup.. England did so in 1966 and in the same exact way, they were robbed.. Coincidence???
@1. No one can say with exact confidence weather or not the 1966 goal crossed the line or not. It bounces somewhere near the line, but it's impossible to prove it 100% either way, mainly because the cameras available at the time weren't up the standards of 2010. So, no, what happened in 1966 is not comparable to 2010 because in 2010 everyone can see with 100% certainty that it was over the line. In 1966, there is no conclusive proof either way.
Goal for south Africa goal for all Africa
That was my favorite tournament so far, we will see what Russia 2018 is gonna bring to our memories 😉
If you listen/watch South African football(I'm South African) you'll notice that vuvuzelas were only used at the WC and by the visitors.
I don't blame Rooney for what he said after the Algeria game
I was born on this day😃😃😃
Hey guys! Leave a comment down below with the hashtag #umaxitgiveaway6 for a chance to win our final giveaway! Happy Wednesday! 😀
Arguably the best world cup
Everyone loves the 2010 World cup, FiFA should return back to South Africa
"Even when the World Cups aren't brilliant"
Was wondering if there'd be a reference to the infamous phantom goal. And just when I think I make it through the video not seeing it, I get smacked in the face with it.
USA Wins 1-1! :D
Fine ass troll here! :D
🇿🇦
lovely video
Even when the World Cup is not brilliant it is absolutely brilliant
Fact
i dont understand how ppl say this WC wasnt exciting....
How comes the illustrations have weird outlined shadings on the nose? imo they'd look much better without it. Nice video tho.
That's a shadow. There are a couple of different artists working on the channel, so different styles will appear. Personally, I really like Philippe's style (the creator of this video).
- Joe
I personally think it'd be better without the outline but the pictures are still really good.
My fav worldcup is the 2010 even though I have not watched it
As a african i Will never forgive What suarez did to ghana
You didnt even mention David Villa??
1:58 look at the New York post lol, it says the beat England 1-1
