    Thanks for this video and I suck at running. Dr Sam, do you have an opinion on zero rise or barefoot shoes?

    They really should stop using those max rate formulas. According to this one I can run a couple hours in zone 5

    Hi Dr Sam. How do you recommend to fit in running session if I do olympics weightlifting 3 to 4 times a week?

    • @CitizenAthletics
      @CitizenAthletics  Před 2 lety +3

      Hey Za Az, generally you'd look to either do the running sessions on your non-lifting days, particularly if the following day is a lower intensity day. You can alternatively do some running after lifting, either right after or later that day (preference would be later in the day) but it would be best to keep it lower effort.

    Just started running earlier this week. I’m dying. Can barely make it a mile. Definitely recognizing that I’m making most of these mistakes lol. Running too fast, too big of strides, and since it’s first thing in the morning, running fasted. Oopsie.
    P.S - I’m not sure where you’re located but that river shot looked just like the Columbia River. Moved from WA to Iowa and even if that wasn’t the Columbia you’ve made me miss nature and hills :’(

      It's such a common story and so glad that you identified them and can hopefully make some changes now.
      Yes it's so beautiful and it's actually not the Columbia River, though that's not too far away! This is lake Okanagan (I live in Kelowna BC).

    I can't believe the top marathon runners that have a mile pace close to folks that just run one mile are all that strong. For their weight maybe, not ceratinly not as folks that lift much at all. Most of them seem rather skinny, especially upper body.
