If I wanna be a trauma sergeon and serve, do I first have to complete all those years of school and then apply to serve? Or can I serve as I'm still learning how to be a trauma surgeon?

You could apply for an HPSP scholarship (which I'm currently in) or you could join after training. In HPSP the military would pay for school and then you would owe them a certain amount of years. You would be an active duty soldier while you're in training for *whatever* specialty you'd go into (unless you get a civilian deferment which is more common in the Navy and Air Force).

@@Xzacher1 Little late of a reply, but when you say "active duty soldier while you're in training" are you referring to residency? I'm currently interested in how the HPSP works but there is limited information I've been able to get on the scholarship. Thanks.

@@jonathanbuyze7985 yes, I mean during residency and afterwards. They have dedicated recruiters just for medical personnel in each branch (nurses doctors etc). I'd recommend contacting them. However, take what they have to say with a grain of salt, read everything, and cross reference it with other sources

@@Xzacher1 hey, this a little late, but if you join the army and do medical school with them, how long do you have to serve with them?

Should not show pictures of people who serve(d) on the internet. Security risk.
