Best things I bought for street photography that weren't directly camera related - a fairly cheap camera backpack from Amazon, made my life much easier in terms of carrying things and making it easier to hold more batteries or lenses, a Stanley lunchbox and flask, to hold food and coffee for the day and a pair of hi-top Vans to keep my feet both comfortable and dry. I don't think any cost me more than the equivalent of $100 but they all made my life much easier. They're definitely not things I would say a beginner needs when they're starting out but they're things I would reccomend to people who are going out there more than a few days a week.
Footwear and storage are two overlooked things for street photography
my bad but who the hell in their right minds looks at vans sk8 hi's as comfort shoe wear for putting down 20-30k steps ?! your feet would be absolutely murdered if you put that many steps with sk8 his on lol. @@medes5597

Great video, Paulie. I like the printing materials gift idea for me. If the GRvIII isn't giving you what you need, consider adding the M11 Monochrom to your santa list. It shoots magically well at 20000 ISO and can even push to 50000 in a pinch. Might have to give up a few meals, some boxes of portra 800, and skip a rent payment or 2, but it helps bring light to the dark season in NY.

$20 a roll! I grabbing my chest like Fred Sanford!! When I shooting film I think I was paying about $11 for a 4 pack of Fujifilm! And that was in the early 2000's.

Well-done! My general answer, regarding a holiday gift, either for myself or another photographer, would be a photo book. Really, however, I would rather that a gift not be tied to a holiday. I gifted a pre-owned camera to a friend, earlier this year, a long-contemplated gift based upon more than a year of consideration. She has been a mentor, to me, so I had a good idea which camera she would appreciate.

My go-to gift to myself is always photobooks. Second is a good pair of walking shoes - combat boots are my favorite. With how expensive film has become, I’d be lucky to get a few rolls as presents, but I’d think a gift card to a favorite photo lab is better because that can pay for other things, too.

I'd take a Fujifilm XPro 3 for Christmas, seeing as Fuji haven't gotten their act together and released an XPro 4 yet.
I’ve read up on this and have spoken to a rep when they swing by my local shop. They realistically aren’t going to anytime soon. They are very backordered on parts and apparently trying to reduce they range finder line into one or two cameras. Essentially making another x100 and a camera that combines the XE/xPro lines together.
If you spot an xPro3 for a good price. I’d jump on it. It could be late next year before anything is announced. You
@@SecretMotorsport I actually went for an XPro 2 instead. For the money, I think it's pretty unbeatable as a walk-around camera.

The hard part is that damn near everything about photography is expensive. So, that pretty much leaves accessories like cleaning cloths, a cleaning kit, photo gloves, cheap rain gear, hats, shirts, travel accessories. I'm sure that there are lots more, but that's off the top of my head..

a person that develops their own 35mm film is only around $100 away from getting fully set up to shoot and develop 16mm or 110 format. i think the perfect gift (or stocking stuffer) would be a full 110 developing setup, everybody loves 110/16mm, sometimes they just haven’t realized it yet.

I'm still trying to figure what everyone does with all their photos? If it's for Instagram for example, you can't flood it with 20 pics per day. So how many pictures do you guys take in one day, how many keepers on 1 roll, or on digital I can do 25 pictures per second. To feed my instagram for 1 year, it would take 1 day on the streets of taking pictures. So what will I do with my other 3 cameras and the remaining 364 days of the year??
Pauly have you ever tried going on a city bus tour in NY? Did in my home town in Glasgow and it was quite good for a different prospective. Also the only photo book of NY I have is vertical by Horst Haman.

Paulie!!! Big fan from Cali over here. I like to shoot with my Leica MP but my point n shoot is my rich griiix (considering the griii now haha). I have been trying to experiment with flash for both my MP and gr. The challenge with my GR is the shutter speed and flash. Can you do a video about using flash settings and GR? Oddly, I feel like the MP and flash is easier to understand. I'm sure its just me and I dont understand my GR yet. I'm more a film shooter than digital. I enjoy the black n white images from my GR and would like to do black n white with flash. HELPPPPPPP
