  • AARON BERGER is a person who likes to get extremely good at things. His various dedications have made him a competitor at soccer, online poker, and for the last decade; street photography. His regimented approach to taking photos involves never missing a long day of roaming the streets, often developing the film himself, the same day. This has paid off, not only by progressing his craft, but also gaining the eye of both publishers and a hungry fanbase. His soft-spoken demeanor is an almost humorous juxtaposition to his checkered job resume but don’t be fooled, he’s always paying attention and will pounce at the opportunity to get the shot he needs.
    In this episode, we cruise the outskirts of Herald Square, chasing the light before his Leica (sans flash) runs out of decent daylight. He explains why he doesn’t like using the flash but doesn’t at all mind others doing so. He tells us why he's often not interested in long conversations about photography and why he'd simply rather be out doing it. We get to see him do just that and turns out he has more to say than maybe he even thought.

    WRONG SIDE OF THE LENS is a documentary series exploring the lives of street photographers. Here, we get a rare chance to turn the camera on those not used to on that side of the lens. We begin to answer the question of why they are so obsession with taking images of complete strangers. They come from a variety of backgrounds yet are drawn to this same calling; street photo. This is a relatively new and, often misunderstood art form, which leaves ample room for these hard working artists to push boundaries. This series captures many of these moments.

    Consider yourself lucky to get a rare, in motion, skate shot of the NYC legend, Gonz.

      I came here to say the same thing. I wonder sometimes how many people have unknowingly photographed of Gonz in the streets. There must be loads of unseen photos out there.

    What a great series. It was such a shame when Aaron said "At this point, the day would typically end" as it such an interesting watch, I could have easily have watched more - and seen more of his work.

    10:00 I think it's more than a photograph for photographers. There's life struggle in it and the dove flying of make it somehow spiritual. Like the holy ghost looked over the person in distress or something...

    Check out Paulie B's recent video with him, the Ricoh GRIII totally reinspired him to get back into street photography hard. He just walks and shoots with such a great eye and energy. I love this series as a study of known to me and new to me. Thank you so much for all of these videos.

      I don’t think it’s his style. In the walkie talkie episode, he talks about how if something is "screaming for it to be photographed" the he’s probably not interested.

      @Justaperson717 Před 4 měsíci

      @@jackshephard2044 Well, it is all about a good taste. If it screams to be photographed, but it still very interesting, than you just have to do it.
