So glad to see you are regaining mobility. Prayers for continuing healing.
I am very glad about it too! Some days are definitely better than others, but my strength and endurance is slowly coming back 😄😄
It amazes me how many UFOs us creates have.
Good job 👍
I made one of these years ago. Highly recommend making the inner bag, especially if you have kids! My kids eventually took out ALL the scrapes for their "own" projects (which were littered ALL over the house!) and I ended up needing to wash the poof quite often because it was well loved.
Good to know! I have inquisitive little people too
You know, sometimes I think people get kinda down on themselves seeing sewing rooms that are beautifully decorated and organized. I appreciate your showing the real world in your sewing room. Mine is all about function! I wish I had some shelves behind a door to store my fabric on, but mostly it is in plastic totes. Fabric scraps are such a problem to store, and if it has any usefulness to it I will not throw it away. I have been considering that pouf! So cute!
Well that settles it: I am making a pouf instead of a quilt with my scraps. I have so many upholstery samples just sitting there, too. This is going to work on so many levels! Thanks for the inspiration!
That's what I call a successful scrap-purge! I really need one of those for my own, especially when I will start having guests over again and not enough chairs to sit on eventually! Thank you for this wonderful idea Marika!
Your pouf is a pleasing blend of cabbage green and cherry. Perfect to store cabbage.
It's great to see a true working sewing area I usually feel bad because mine is always full of projects and, my goodness I have so many scraps. I'm so glad you made this video It's really helpful.
I didn't quite know what to expect from the title, but I knew I'd feel relaxed, happy, and low-key inspired after watching and was not disappointed
Wow! You fit a huge tub plus three bags of scraps into one poof and still have room for more! I think I need this in my life. I have a huge ugly tub like that filled with all my knits then three smaller ones filled with my woven fabric. It might be more space efficient for a couple of proofs. It would be so awesome if I could fill all my stash into a couple of proofs. I might even make one for my duaghter who is getting into sewing one too store her fabric in. This is such a brilliant idea.
A clean sewing room AND a place to use up all your scraps. Double win! Thanks for sharing the fun project. I just may have to make one of those for the living room.
So glad to see you are well again. God bless you, Enchanted Rose. You are an incredible person.
That is an excellent project. Also a good place to stuff old clothing that is not good for donating!!!
Great pouf! Turn storage into furniture.
Every time you post a vid I give a little cheer because I know you're getting better. 🤗
What a fun project! I think we all can relate to the need to get organized before diving into projects.
I love the poof idea! As a quilter i always seem to have a lot of scraps
So nice to see you moving around. I love your pouf. What a great idea. Looking forward to seeing you finish some of your unfinished projects. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for posting your honest sewing room! Mine currently looks eerily similar to yours before the organizing. 😆 Hopefully, this will inspire me to tackle mine!
You can do it! I found listing to an audiobook really helps!
4:59 The recycling options aren't great! So it's uplifting to see an alternative.
Thank you for showing us the true state of your room!! Now I don’t feel quite so bad about mine. It would help if I didn’t have half a dozen crafts as well as sewing, computer and books all mixed into the room! I have too many interests.
The pouf is such a fun looking project. The ideas are unlimited different sizes for different things! I no longer have a place that recycles material. I feel bad about putting the small scraps into the garbage but I also don’t have room to store them. I think my room shrunk!!
I am very glad to see you using your arm and hand more. Your movement looks more fluid and much closer to normal. Keep up the great work! We’re all cheering for you!!! Looking forward to seeing all your videos in the new year!!!
I think those Pouf things would be great idea in Sewing classes at schools! You could like make big bean bag type of things for students to eventually sit on ect.! 🧐
Great idea! Made me thing of all the worn jeans I have.
Your sewing room isn’t as bad as mine, but it comforts me to know it’s not just me!
I didn’t know I needed one of these…. But I need one of these!
Oh look! I spotted the floor! It's not as bad as mine then!
Brilliant idea for scrap hiding .
I think I need a pouf. I have a lot of scrap fabric that I can't toss out yet, lol.
It's always fun to get a look into someones sewing room "unedited". And great usage of the scraps!
That would be a great project with out door fabric! I wanted some outdoor poufs and got priced out of the market… rethinking EVERYTHING :)
Amazing project I'm going to be making one or two.
Thank you so much for showing your chaos!
Ughhhhh I feel this dirty sewing room vibe SO HARD.
I really like the blue and green print. I think I need that scrap
Yay!! I've missed you!!
Oh, this is what I need right now. My scrap pile is slowly creeping up on me.
Love the poof. Such a great idea. I probably have 3 or 4 times the amount of scarps that you do and I've thrown away tons of them too. If only I had found this idea years ago...I've have a poof for every one of the 31 grandkids I have! Thanks for the great idea. Yours turned out so cute and I'm sure it will be very useful.
Lovely Job you could buy some of these mesh bags and every time you need to go into your stash, fill and perhaps sort if need be.
2nd hand filling cabinets may help for organisation. More are becoming available as we continue to go paperless. I am using stacking bread baskets with labels stuck to them. I began by finishing the mending. Good luck to you, it is difficult to clear and care for a family on top of your work.
Birdy
I noticed that your able to use your arm more, I hope that you’re not over doing it if you’re feeling better 💖 my sister has to have surgery on her back and needs constant reminders not to over do it even when she feels ok. I’m so glad to see you back though and honestly hope you’re taking proper care of yourself
I do miniature sewing and also quilting, so scraps have to be pretty small to be unusable for me. This is a really cool idea for clearing out scraps though.
I’m finally having time to sew. Had a lot going on. I’m in a one bedroom apartment and I’ve been organizing because my living room is my sewing room. I can’t mount anything on the walls so I have a few metal kitchen type shelves and rolling carts with drawers. Fabric is stacked in plastic tubs behind the table I use. Works because there is dead space behind it. I’m hoping to be able to afford a larger apartment in a year or two. Then it all rolls into a room! It was extremely easy to move my sewing stuff.
Very pretty! They are great for kids stuffed toys too apparently.
What a great project! I didn't know closet core poufs existed, I guess I need to make one now! ☺️ And I absolutely love the colour combination of yours! 😍 Thank you for the motivating video, Marika! I'm excited to see your future projects come along and I wish you a very happy and creative new year! 🤗
Isn’t this a great feeling when you start a new year with cleaning up your sewing room?! 👏 Well done!!
Also, the scrap-project is an awesome idea! 🤩
Oh honey your sewing room is at least in a room. Mine is the kitchen table with two sewing machines, shears, fabric that I've cut, fabric that I've washed, and food from my last meal so ...
On the same page with this year's theme. Happy to see you talking with your hands! Okay, making a poof to hold Mount Scrapmore is BRILLIANT!
Love this project! I need to sew more to have more scraps. Glad your hand is behaving better, so happy to see it. Best wishes into new year and looking forward to all your videos.
What a great scrap buster!! All the scrap i have is sized more for filling, unless i make a Barbie sized pouf lol and It's so comforting to see someone else with a messy sewing room 😂 even after reorganizing mine is a mess lol
Ahhh, I got a big bean bag from facebook marketplace a couple of months ago to put in all my durable, acrylic yarn that wouldn't mind being sat on and can 100% recommend this as a storage method for anyone who enjoys rummaging. Movable stash ftw, especially if it means more places for people to sit and a multi-functional object!
Such a great idea! Looking forward to seeing your future projects!
Thanks so much!
Happy to see you are back making videos again :) what a great project idea!
my favorite way of getting into closets that have stuff in front of them is to remove the doors and put up curtains. They move aside much easier.
I love it, no room for one here though. I keep planning to make a Pillow Roll Bolster Pillow and fill it with scraps. I have a single bed in my craft room, which can't be moved as it took 2 men to move it in, and a bit of the ceiling in the hall to come down. So I thought of making this type of cushion for the bed to turn it into a settee. Maybe two or three.
What about using one or two "under-bed" storage totes for your backdrop stuff, then you could store them under the bottom shelf of the work table! Just make sure they are well labelled!
I just stumbled across your channel, and your sewing room is so relatable! I have to sew on our dining room table, so I have stuff scattered in different storage containers; but when I'm working on a project have stuff strewn about is my life. Congrats on getting more organized, it's a process. 😁❤
The poof is a brilliant idea for using up scraps. I also have a sewing/ craft room that has been overtaken by chaos.
It would be easier to keep up on if I only had one or two hobbies. My word for 2022 is " complete " sounds like it's yours too.
Omg that’sGenius! Why do you make projects that I wanna do I have my own projects every time you make a project like I need to do that now
Yes, you made my day. I am so glad when you post 🤗
PS : I love the pouf.
Lol,,,that’s one hell of a pin cushion
Great Idea, and very pretty!
Fabric scraps.
I bin very little. Larger pieces are returned to a client or kept if they are 1m+. Otherwise. The smaller pieces are placed in a garbage bag and once filled, delivered to local Childcare facilities. Tiny scraps are kept in a plastic bin until filled and then cut up for ‘cabbage’
The only things that get binned are fabrics that don’t work for cabbage. Cabbage is then used as stuffing in items like toys.
Great pouf! I have more than enough scraps! I'm totally feeling you on the messy creative space...I need to tidy up mine as well. It's on the list.
I'm so happy to see that you have healed more and regained more use of your arm!! I am so excited to see these projects come to life (especially the Worth dress!!!) and am looking forward to following your sewing journey wherever it takes you in 2022! ❤
I absolutely adore your pouf! You might also consider a mesh carrier for one of the corners of your room. They sell them to contain stuffed animals in kids rooms. You could store some lighter weight items in there. Also consider putting wheels on anything that you can. I've even put permanent dollies under things so they can be easily moved. For instance the heavy coffee table in my living room now gets moved easily out of the way when I want to exercise in front of the tv.
love the pouf! that is such a great solution for all my quilting scraps maybe.... thanks for the inspiration!
I need to do exactly the same thing
wow this is so cool! I really appreciate you going through all the steps very clearly, it's very helpful :)
adorable!!
I make 10 inch historical dolls. I have used ur videos to dress them. If u ever have any fabric scraps that u dont want I can give them a good home lol
Happy to see you much better!! Lovely puff
Oh dear, I was going to turn my spare room into a sewing room, because it unused but as I’m a bit untidy I don’t think I’ll bother.
I will need one of these eventually 😜
Looks amazing
It is great to see you back on here. Always loved your channel. Thanks for another great video and sharing that free pattern.
It's so cute! I have been planning to take my scraps to recycling, but if the process isn't good this looks like a great alternative storage solution.
Glad to see that you're doing better!
What a great idea for hiding scraps!
I see you're still having trouble with your hand. It's coming along I think but the process must be maddeningly slow. I had a stroke in Nov of 2019. It affected my speech. I struggle to find the right word..I imagine your limited use of your hand is similar to what I am going through. I love watching you sew.
I use to sew a great deal but just don't have the desire now. I hope you continue to heal hon and keep on bringing us your great videos.
Kindred spirit thank you for the inspirations - clean up, pouf, and use what I own vs. buying for 2022. Thank you and best wishes for a wonderful year!
Blessings for the new year! Glad to see you are doing better!
It is so satisfying to see someone clean and organize haha thnxxx
That’s a great idea 💡
So glad this video was recommended to me! I have a huuuge box like you in the video and it takes up so much space and looks pretty ugly. So i will definitely tackle that next!
Thank you so much for the comment! Good luck with your project!!
What a great idea! I just might have to make one of these for my many scraps!
Great project!
now i want to sew all kinds of poufs to use to hide stuff in my house but the kids can use to play on
My kids love them! and the scraps get compacted very quickly when littles jump on them making even more room 😂😂😂
Love it! I have more than enough scraps to fill one of these!
I absolutely love this.
That is fantastic. Great job.🙂
What a clever idea! And yours is as cute as can be....love it
Happy New Year!
..i have to do this too esp fabric sort out...i love the way your pouff turned out...i've made 2 already and love them..my 2nd is a shorter one, i ran out of scraps lol
Yes please
P. S. For the volume of the pouf, you want to (in cm) multiply its radius x the radius (again) x the height x 3.14 (pi) . That will give you the number of cubic centimetres.
eg if I read it correctly, you made it 21 1/2 inches wide, which is 54.5 cm wide. That's the diameter. The radius is half of that. So the radius (27.25) squared times pi is 2334.5 cm squared.
The original height was 10.5 inches but you decided to go an inch higher. That's 29cm.
Thus in cm cubed, your poufle is 29 x 2334.5 = 67,700 cm cubed, or 67.7 litres.
That's 2.39 cubic feet, 17.88 US gallons, or 4131 cubic inches. That's why it took so much fabric to fill.
It has been brought to my attention that the link to the pattern isn't working and I am not sure why as it was working this morning 😞😞😞. I've emailed the company and I am awaiting a reply. My guess is maybe they are doing to maintenance to their site which could be why the link isn't working atm. I'll let you know once I hear back.
the link is working again! blog.closetcorepatterns.com/fabric-floor-pouf-free-sewing-pattern/
You are so inspiring!! Where are your favorite places to buy fabric in Canada? Do you have any recommended online fabric shops?
I love that iron. What kind is it. Where can I find one?
It is a silver star gravity iron amzn.to/39hzTNg
Where did you get that beautiful blue/green paisley print you used for the poof?! I’d love to get my hands on some!
It was either Walmart or Fabricland. It has been it my stash for over 10 years 😅😅😅
WoW I like your Idea for closet scraps pouf >> I have a big problem with scraps and pattern's papers so I will sew the pouf and I hope if you have an idea for the pattern's papers ( I'm rolling them but they grow more and more than their place ) help me with an idea for them please >>>>> thank you for your video
What is the pouf used for? Is it a pillow? Footstool? Pet bed? Just a container?
My kids use it as a seat, but it can also be used as a footstool :)
Anyone else get a page not found when clicking on the link? The only free pattern I can see on there is a t-shirt 😌
That is so weird, I just clicked it and I got the same thing :( It was working this morning...
The link is working again!
and morgan donner has moved to the east coast and cant come and help
