This is one of the last live recordings that Ray Charles performed and produced before his death (10.06.2004). It is a wonderful tribute to an American Legend and it keeps the true spirit of Christmas at the forefront of this recording.
"Voices of Jubilation Choir", Newark, New Jersey, directed by Stefanie R. Minatee, was established in October 1998 under the auspices of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. It is a culturally mixed aggregation of auditioned voices, committed to singing African American sacred music with an emphasis on Gospel music.

I was at this concert, Ray's voice was strong but he looked so frail, he passed about 1 year later, What a blessing to be there!!!!!!

The opening song here, “What Kind of Man is This,” is spectacular. It’s become one of my favorite Christmas songs, and it should be more widely known.

I've had the pleasure of seeing JUBILATION live in concert on several occasions and their vocal praises to GOD are such a blessing to behold! 🥰 If anyone is ever in New Jersey and has the opportunity to see them in concert, do yourself a favor and GO!!! You will not regret it.

At this point in time Ray was walking into the sunset, over 50 years of singing and at the end America The Beautiful my God that really did it for me. The emotion he puts into his music.

God Bless Ray. I had the privilege of standing next to him, my hand on his piano, when he was very late for a concert at Northwestern University in the '60's. Not his fault, airplane and bus problems. All the girls had to leave the concert because of curfews that were prevalent in those days. Just a few guys left and we came down and stood around him. What a great artist. I have tears after listening to America the Beautiful.. I repeat ... God Bless you Ray and thank you for all you gave to America.

Descobri Ray Charles em 1964 quando gravou sua primeira musica Georgia on my Mind e desde então nunca mais deixei de gostar das musicas dele. Ele faleceu sim mas deixou um maravilhoso legado musical. I Used to run home after school in the 1950s to hear Mahalia Jackson sing church music. I was a white Catholic boy.
The Latin songs & Gregorian chants that we sang we’re nothing like what Miss Jackson was singing. I was only four and five years old but even then I wondered, “Why - oh Why couldn’t our music be happy too?” It wasn’t too many years before I could sing all the Ray Charles tunes that they played on the TV, on the educational channel
