Having Ray says "The boy got it" about you is an achievement that's worth to be carved on your tombstone.
Damn Straight You're spot On RIGHT
Jamie Foxx has got to be the most talented man on Earth!!!
Jamie Foxx NAILED Ray Charles ( to a 'T')
Jamie Foxx won best actor at the Oscars for his performance in the movie 'Ray'. He deserved it for sure.
Thanks for comment because I was trying to remember did he win an award😉 He won a Oscar🥳 yes he did deserve that✅💯💯💯
What an honor to be in the presence of Ray Charles. I knew the minute I viewed the movie that it was an award winning movie
@@lshepherd6137 Absolutely was an honor , RIP great legend ❤
@@lshepherd6137the movie was a bit too fast paced for my liking. He met and then was ostracised from people in 4 minutes at times. Literally just rewatched it. Another thing was they made a big deal about Ray refusing to play in front of a segregated audience in Georgia and said how he got an award and pardon in 1979 because of it. But also fail to mention that Ray then went to Sun City in South Africa in 1981 and played infront of an entirely segregated audience in a country with the worst racial segregation laws ever. So… that’s a bit of a swing and a miss there.
He deserved it. Best acting job ever.
Jamie was trying to be cool about being around Ray but I know he was shy and nervous about being around Ray Charles the legend.
Yasss.... I hope he at least shared some precious moments with Ray.
Damn. How long you known Jamie?
Oh, was you there?
How u know he isn’t naturally cool & calm
@@YoungHusalahTruckingcorrect
There will never be a movie about a musician that could surpass Jamie’s portrayal of Ray.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
Great story, great music, great acting and loads of soul.
Love it
Chadwick Boseman’s James brown was quite close but nowhere near as soulful
*Rocketman enters the chat*
Walk the line was pretty good. Joaquin was great as johnny cash.
Ray Charles joy was infectious, when he yells out "he got it" and lit up the room with that smile, man it was a sight to behold.
Especially since he gotta a bright yellow smile lol
Poor choice of words...
He couldn’t behold the sight but you right
Ray was probably pretty high also
I felt it 🎉
For Ray’s SON to say sometimes Jamie tricked my mind is crazy!
He truly truly gave Jamie foxx his blessings. Look how close he was to him. Touching him was basically Ray visualizing Jamie doing a great job on his biopic. Especially after they played the piano together
Indeed...magic...he Said it at First.."let's play the blues before talking.
Look at his smile just after two bars
Jamie Foxx is absolutely amazingly TALENTED!!!!! It is insane how much talent that man has!!!!!
Ray Charles, a true legend...Jamie Fox captured the talent, the spirit, the Man!
He really did

This is why Jamie Foxx transcends most artists today. Not only is he immensely talented, but he keeps it authentic. This makes you FEEL his performances.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
@@edithbannerman4 rip bro u got the bots on you
Now we have to 🙏🏼pray for him.
❤ love you Jamie and sir Ray, SIP
To have ray charles say “ I love to hear you sing” you know you’re really HIM, holy I would’ve freaked the hell out
I enjoyed hearing Quincy Jones...one of his good friends for life say that sometimes he could not tell the difference. Jaime was born to play Ray in this movie just like Denzel was born to play Malcom X.
Jamie really became Mr. Charles on screen and within himself, I believe, truly believe I felt and saw that. Two talented and gifted men 🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵
To say the least..
Jamie Foxx gave one of the finest acting performances I’ve ever seen in Ray! When I watched that movie at times I actually thought that Jamie Foxx was the real Ray Charles. That’s the hallmark of some really fantastic acting.
To find out that Jamie was a trained pianist was amazing!
Did you know that all the songs except for 5 were actually performed by Ray Charles? Those 5 were actually sung Jamie Foxx
You couldn’t have said that better.
"I was blind for about 12 to 14 hours a day" holy shit that's commitment right there
After the movie ended, I turned to my friend and said, they might as well give Jamie the Oscar now. He had Ray down pat so good, it was scary.
It's almost like Ray knew he was in the twilight of his life, and wanted to leave us with something good to remember him by.
Also, who else thinks that Jamie should star in a movie about Stevie Wonder next?
He probably did considering how old he was at this point
He definitely did. I read that he arranged to have lunch with all of his kids 2 years prior to tell them he would leave them X amount of money because he knew he was dying.
Dare I say, Jamie Foxx did the best at playing a real life person. It didn't feel like a parody, but he truly honored this man with his performance... My God. We need to appreciate this man more.
It didn't feel like a parody cuz it wasn't a joke...LOL
@@jordanbabcock9349 there are some people that have played real people and it looks like a joke on the screen when it's not supposed to be. I.e. when Viola Davis played Michelle Obama, and countless other terrible biopics.
Facts ❤
@@novalove4790 they did Viola wrong for that film, because in hindsight Michelle really did exactly that often and just as exaggerated too. I think seeing someone else do it made it too obvious and so it became undesirable. Also, Jamie grew up parodying, so it really helped him to nail this role.
Will Smith and Chadwick Boseman did a hell of a job on a couple movies
He was the perfect guy for that role, great actor, great impression, looked just like him, same height, and even knew how to play the piano
Ray was one of the most charismatic geniuses ever existed... We miss you so much Mr. Charles!!!
Jamie Foxx was IMPECCABLE!!!
Jamie, praying for your recovery. You did a excellent job playing Ray.
AN excellent...
Yo that profile pic is killing me rn 🤣😂😂😂

Man! I remember this movie’s release and it sent Jamie into the stratosphere. Then he dropped that album and sampled Ray Charles. All the stars aligned!!
Kanye's album featuring Jamie, they have many classics
had to pause the video halfway through.....jamie said he couldnt see for 12-14 hours a day!!!! i dare anyone to try that and see how it goes. you will lose your mind. mad props to him for going through this for the movie. he really put everything into this role
when I saw the film, I didn't see Jamie Foxx. I saw Ray Charles. incredible.
Jamie was born to play that role
It's not just how absolutely amazing Jamie Foxx was for this, but also how much incredible joy Ray Charles showed when he was working with Jamie.
I had no idea Jamie played piano, i just know he absolutely KILLED it in the movie. Ray Charles is a GIANT in music and Jamie pulled it off so so well. I loved loved loved this movie. This is such a cool video to see them meeting and jamming .
he used to play and sing on his show in the 90s.. he played a Jingle writer
@@mrzhyphy1510I think he recorded an album in the 90s too. I remember he had a single called “Infatuation”.
Go look at the Jamie Foxx show he did in the 90s he always sang and played the piano!!
He did most of his stand ups with a piano. He'd be playing and telling jokes at the same time. He knew how to really paint a picture. Pure talent.
I wished that the late Billy Preston was alive to see this movie.
🎙Jamie was born for this!!!👏🏽
Ray seemed so happy. You can't not manufacture him. Then, Jamie did an Outstanding job. Oscar, Oscar, Oscar. Ray would be so proud and was. This was beautiful.
I seriously think Jamie Foxx is the most talented person of our time, I mean, is there anything this man can’t do? I’m not religious but his talents are truly god given. Amazing and underrated actor.
Singer, piano player, Gifted Actor, amazing comedian, and his impressions are top notch. Couldn't agree with you more
*of all time
@@JohnRapheal7 Staying away from the old and current Ray before knowing the young Ray was key and took discipline, to avoid Ray when invited, but he knew how to establish order within his role.
Jamie’s portrayal was masterful…Like you could get lost in the movie and forget that it was Jamie and not Mr Charles
My Dad LOVED this movie. He was a huge Ray Charles fan. ❤
Smiles, hi Tiffany 👋
“Playing the blues with Ray Charles.. I mean C’MON.”
Jamie was classic in this film, Couldn't find a better actor to play Ray. Well done.
GLORY TO GOD FOR Jamie Foxx's performance...it was so real that you couldnt tell that Jamie wasnt Ray. Thats true acting. I believe God used Jamie to show us all a different perspective of how persistence repeatition and perseverance plays a great role in staying anchored and overcoming tough obstacles in which that was Rays whole life. IJN Amen
Watching Jamie perform the way he did was transcendent, it was like rebirthing the gift of Ray Charles to the public in a way no other actor could ever do. From everything to the mannerisms to the voice. It just is simply superb and stunning. And what a way to homage to an absolute immortalized legend of Ray Charles
Jamie Foxx is arguably the greatest entertainer of all time.
Ray was so authentic, so true, just displayed pure joy for Jamie's genius. This is do beautiful to watch.
Looks like Ray gave him a hard time at first and Jaime was lost... but it looked like Ray came around quick when he realized that Jaime could keep up.
Crazy this was 21 years ago now. Ray Charles was one of the most talented men god created. Rest easy ray 🕊️
The movie was released October 2004. 19 years ago
Ray charles joy was amazing, he lit up a room with that smile.
I love the way Mr. Charles call Jamie Fox Boy at the start of this clip it reminds me of my Grandfather... its a Southern thing.
Jamie captured the essence of Ray Charles as Denzel captured the essence of Malcom X in that movie. Jamie was Ray and Denzel was Malcom X. The two men possess some of the greatest talents in the history of movies 🎉🎉❤❤
"This may sound like sacrilege, but I think Ray Charles was more important than Elvis Presley".
-Billy Joel
Jamie is like a human Cameleon... He can copy voices and body language like never seen before.
A chameleon even.
Jamie worked hard on this role, and it must have been painful for him to have Ray pass away before the film was released. I'm not sure if the filming was completed before Ray's passing, but if it wasn't, it had to have been real tough to concentrate on finishing his scenes. A truly amazing performance about an amazing talent.
Damn.
Filming wrapped and Ray saw a full rough cut of the film before it was released/he passed and loved it
Jamie Fox amazing actor
This made me Emotional 😢
Love Ray Charles, blind black man in 1940s not easy
Them standing side by side is like seeing before and after, older and younger. So perfect.
I miss Ray Charles 😪🙏🏾💞
He is the greatest artist of all time ❤️
My respect for Jamie's acting skills and dedication went up about 3 fold. I know this man from booty calls. Bunz has come a long way
That movie title threw me off a bit at first 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽😂😂😂😂
😂🤣
Yes!!! The casting director did their big one, but Jamie Foxx took this to another level!!!
Yes! He blew me away with that Ray. I still like his booty call movies too.😂
Ray is one of my favorite bio pics Jamie literally became Ray it was amazing to see and be able to watch this movie with my late dear grandma who grew up listening to Ray Charles! Great job Jamie and long live Ray Charles 🙏🏾🦾
This was Great, it was an amazing time, it transformed Jamie similarly to the transformation of Denzel Washington in the movie Malcolm X phenomenal 😊❤😂🎉
This is gold 🔥🔥🔥
I haven't seen Ray Charles in ages - and Jaimee Fox is always fun to watch! 😁
Huh?
Huh??
My dad was a huge and loyal fan of his when I was a young girl. Because of this movie and Jamie's talent, I too became a fan of the late Mr. Ray Charles Robinson 🙏🏽♥️🙏🏽 aka Ray Charles RIP
I literally just became a fan after watching Ray for the 100 time! Watching it as an adult hit so different!
Jamie is a fantastic actor!
A newspaper critic, after being overwhelmed by Jamie's performance wrote, "giving Jamie Foxx an oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles is too small an award."
One of the greatest musicians ever is Ray Charles, he wrote so many hit songs, and watching him play is incredible. He totally feels his music.
No pun intended 😂
man ray charles on that pianno !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
comin back to this every once in a while is a tradition `i guess lol
Damn man that is amazing how Jamie did that role
Jamie was born for this role. Impressions, singing, classical piano etc. a little too perfect
I had idea what Jamie had to do to prepare for this movie. He's a genius and amazing. He definitely itely deserved the oscar
Smiles, hi Diane 👋
Oh my God I've watched this movie RAY over and over again and i still can't get over how real, authentic Jamie personified this the character of the great Ray Charles. One of the best movie bios I've ever seen absolutely love it.
Jamie is truly talented.
9:18 they were so synchronised 🔥
2 legends!
Yes he knocked it out of the park in that role a true professional actor with superb skills.
Ray having the time of his life love to see it
If you ever wonder.. if acting is easy than it looks.. just think of Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles.. the amount of skill that went into that Role is honestly unlike any other..
I’m so blessed to be born in the generation to know about Jamie fox and Ray Charles.
Im glad he knew that he was loved by the people, immortalized with this film
We lost so much when Ray died.
Jamie Foxx's portrayal of Ray Charles in that movie is amazing.
Jamie has these incredible abilities that gave him the ability to portray Ray Charles so accurately, it's just amazing. You forget you're watching Jamie Foxx and not Ray Charles.
wow, i was born in august 2002, i love Ray
Yes Sir he nailed that performance in the movie Ray , I got lost in his acting and actually thought he was Ray Charles , that's just how good he played that role , kudos to Jamie Foxx.
The fact that Ray himself approved Jamie as him, speaks volumes. Jamie did a perfect performance. I watched this movie many times and it still get me emotional and I somehow believe his Ray though I know his Jamie. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Jamie has and always will me my main man! His performance as ray captivated me.. I’d forget it was Jamie once in a while. I love love love that movie, ray, and Jamie!! 💕
Jamie Fox is such amazing actor. The ability to transfer through so many different roles is just amazing.
...it's really sad that Ray Charles never got to see the movie about him.
The footage of Ray Charles playing behind Jamie Fox's basic blues pattern is INCREDIBLE! There's a lot of his recordings, but not a lot of him just sitting solo at the piano improvising like that. He died just before the release of this film - the recording he made of Drown In My Own Tears for this is some of the best I've ever heard him play. He channeled blues piano - as if he gave it birth. I'm damn glad I got to see him play live before he died
I can remember the excitement I had hearing this movie was being made. It's one of my all time favorites. The footage of him playing the Chitling Circuit w/Lowell Fulsom is worth the ticket alone. There aren't enough movies that cover the R&B era before rock and roll
I think Ray knew Jamie was gonna do his Story justice. He had the talent and love for music that would portray his life story with compassion. ❤❤❤❤❤
They needed to create a whole new award for Jamie in this role. Like a platinum oscar. Unreal
Jamie Foxx killed it he played that part like a champ no other actor could ever play the legendary Ray Charles as well as what Jamie did ❤
That moment when he stands up and said he got it!
Legend..........I watch the movie "Ray" every time it comes on TV. Jamie Foxx, did a amazing job, of portraying Ray Charles. In my opinion, NO OTHER ACTOR, could've done it better.
Everybody did a great job in this movie. Jamie's playing makes his portrayal of Ray Charles believable. As soon as this movie started I believed him.
Watching Ray as Jamie starts nailing it is enough to make a grown man cry...
Ray Charles Is the G.O.A.T
Jamie morhafucka Jones Foxx….. we are so blessed to have Jamie Foxx
Jamie Foxx BECAME RAY CHARLES! It was amazing, one of my favorite biopics
Jamie Foxx is a great actor and doesn't get recognized for it enough
I LOVE HOW EXCITED RAY GETS!!!
If you ever saw the movie “Ray”, which is Ray Charles’ biography, you already know this, but back when Ray was starting out (in Georgia) he played keyboard in some pretty questionable places, was doing heroin, and was considered to be a troublemaker by the State of Georgia. Finally, the State of Georgia told Ray Charles he was not welcome in their state anymore and forced him to leave. Years later, Ray got his act together, got off heroin, and in 1960 recorded Georgia on My Mind. Then, in 1979, the State of Georgia issued Ray Charles a formal apology for kicking him out of the state, invited him to play at the state legislature (this video), and presented him with a plaque stating they were making Georgia on My Mind the official state song of Georgia. I guess Ray showed them who was boss in the end. 😉
Ray Charles was a Musical Genius
Jammie foxx Deserved that Oscar .He surely did
The greatest Genius of Soul! My man, RAY CHARLES!!
What a gift of joy, respect and an honor to share between two artists.
Ray Charles was always a household name when i was growing up in the late 80s. I remember his name and music before i knew anything else.
Ray Charles will never be forgotten the state of Georgia will always remember Ray Charles no matter what
I don't know what Jamie Fox got paid but he should have made more money in this movie than any actor ever have made in history in one particular movie 🤔❓
Jamie nailed it. Playing Ray, and meeting the legend... Dang that is just awesome.
Such a great movie
Jaime has always put his all into everything
