- These are reasonable quality and are a 6 piece set. the grinding quality is not the best and the fluting is a bit shallow but is acceptable for the price and better quality steel.
Century Tools #73414
As far as I can remember, I have never successfully extracted anything with a tapered spiral flute extractor. I don’t even touch the damn things anymore. It’s the straight flute extractors that have the matching hex “sockets” or drill and tap for me. It only took 2 broken spiral extractors for me to learn my lesson. One of them was a Century brand from Oreilly’s over a decade ago. I will say that they are definitely made out of hard steel, because nothing short of carbide or heat is going to cut them. That isn’t necessarily a good thing though. That just means that you are extra screwed when it breaks off in the bolt...
I have used century tools before, they have surprisingly good metallurgy and heat treat.
Good god. You must have either a huge house or a house stuffed with tools to hold all of these unique tools you have. The stuff you pull out is unbelievable.
I have found Century taps and a thread file to be quite well made.
I've seen some wrenches from Century around my house. I think they were my great grandfather's.
If they ever strip out a bolt on the Brooklyn Bridge, I'm sure you'll have the proper extractor to remove it.
Hi Catus , Thanks for the Review . I Was Wondering about Century tools . I Was looking at Their Straight Tap Wrench .
Do you have a video on tool oils you use/recommend? I have a set that rusted just like you said and I wanna keep that from happening. Also thank you for your conent really appreciate O'Reilly tool reviews as someone that works there so ik what to steer people too and from.
OReily's carries these and their drill bits. I have not tried as I have Hansen branded ones and they work well.
