Can one have Prescription lenses added to these glasses either in clear or as sunglasses?
Yes. Mine are prescription
May I ask if your RX lenses where installed by RayBan, Your Eye Dr. or some online org/business and if so what org/ business? Thank very kindly for Your Previous and surprising expeditious response...Cheers. @@MarcusCreates
How about -14 with astigmatism? I'm mega blind
I can see they do indeed go all the way up to -20 on their site. Very impressive!
right the fact that you could SEE that is also amazing, I mean it! All the best, Im a -3, and I just can't imagine that level, I really do wish you a good and happy life.@@mattgarside7181
Facebook having always-on cameras and microphones on your face isn’t incredibly concerning? This is a company with a long-running disdain for privacy, and even a toxic sense of entitlement to capturing and trafficking in your personal data.
There is that 😂. Trust is a huge issue and I do wonder if it’s ok to have a camera on my face all the time. Like when I’m in the gym changing rooms etc. The camera is off obviously, but it’s still there.
Completely agree
@@MarcusCreates I would not be at all impressed if I was in that changing room. These might improve your life ever so slightly but it will 100% have a detrimental affect on how you interact with humans. I know which one I value more.
You are completely wrong on what you are saying, and confidently wrong too! Meta goes a through a rigorous process before any minute data at all can be used. And no your data isn’t being sold to any Chinese company.. all false.
@@BlueRose13. cool story. What do Zuckerberg’s shoes taste like?
No addiction was broken. You re-arranged and made it stronger.
A better way of saying it would have been that he massively reduced "unintended eyes on screen" time. You look at your phone to do "W", but also end up doing X, Y, and Z, which weren't things you needed to do, they were just mindless busywork or entertainment.
For folks like me with ADHD, moving away from constant notifications is a game changer in terms of ability to focus on what matters for long periods of time.
@@AdrianSanabria he swapped eyes on screen time for screen on eyes time.. massive increase in phone use
@@Ghrystnot really in his case specifically he did reduce the time he has to spend with a phone and looking at one. I'd prefer this too since I wouldn't be inclined to sit and look at CZcams shorts all day. Everybody is different just because it wouldn't reduce screen time for you doesn't mean it wouldn't for someone else. Very close minded of you.

Excellent video, Marcus. I really enjoy your vibe & the way you clearly explain/teach. Thanks for taking the time to create & share this content with us. Cheers
Gotta love 'capturing that moment' is a smash n grab. Peak SF! Great video btw.
You got that right!
I kno right
New to the channel, and great video! Really nicely formatted, prepared, and presented. I tried out these sunglasses and ended up loving them enough to buy a second pair in prescription-definitely one of my favorite tech products to recently come out (especially when the multimodal AI finishes public beta testing shortly). I will say I was dying laughing when you described “having meta in my head” at 9:10 😭
This type of long-form review is what I'm here for. I was looking for something like this for the Meta Ray Bans. Thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful!
I just got these ones today and I’m so excited 😊 thanks for such thorough review!
Thank you Marcus for making this video. I had been contemplating purchasing a dedicated assistive technology device for blind and visually impaired people for functions like object recognition that was literally an order of magnitude more expensive. Hearing that tools like this are finally achieving a degree of mainstream maturity is terrific to hear. As much as having a phone being an intermediary between you and the world around you was a major inconvenience for most people, it was a transformatively enabling development for blind people seeking greater independence. Replacing it with an almost seamless experience will likely change the lives of millions of people for the better.
I didn't even think of the fantastic benefits for visually impaired people. Thanks for sharing that and I'm so happy technology is advancing in the right direction.
read my post stop do not buy untill you read please
I will commend meta on making a case (a great looking one at that) that actually charges the glasses. Other “smart glasses” makers give a generic case and you have to take out the glasses to charge them on a cable outside the case, its a more elegant a solution to have case also be able to charge the glasses and it makes the price tag abit more digestable
The fact that I can get prescription lenses is a game changer, definetly will be my next pair. To think of say cycling yet still aware of my surroundings while listening to a podcast!
Great video! Really helped me so so much more of the value in these glasses.
finally a CZcamsr who follows the basic 101 instructional communication skills: tell 'em what you're going to tell 'em, tell 'em, and finally tell 'em what you told 'em. and explained very well, great job. but i do agree with @larryvonloop that you deflected your phone addiction to now use different tools. you don't have to record everything, take pics of everything, use social media all the time, etc. start to create a habitual cycle of not using ANY technology/screens for a given period of time. start small and work your way up. you can do it!
Thanks Tony. 👍🏻
The presenter came across as authentic and helpful - this coming from someone first checking these glasses out. Appreciate the video.
Thanks buddy. Doing my best here. 😊
He largely did. He agreed the sound is pretty rubbish and you need pods to hear people 4:42 , people can hear them when it is quiet 4:50 Disagree about the AI which is poor as it works only 50% of time. Try asking to translate a word into French or another language. IMPORTANT - AI does not work outside the US on these glasses.
Battery?? I don't think he covered the fact that the battery lasts about 2 hours with general use, and as little as 1 hour or less if you were out listening to music and taking some video/photos.
I would suggest waiting 1 or 2 more year for the next model(s) which should improve these things, or when Headphones integrate the same technology, namely taking images
Great video Marcus! I think it’s great that these save you from taking out your phone to capture moments that often happen to fast to be captured with with a phone.
Thanks Brendan. I’m a big fan of them.
I’m super impressed with this product. Haven’t purchased yet, but great video to encourage testing this out. Blows my mind to think that in a couple years something like Apple Vision Pro will likely be in a similar form factor. May we all live in interesting times 😎
Great review, waiting on mine to e delivered, first time on your channel, I paused the first b roll and said, wait a minute thats O Callaghans strand! Needless to say subscribed now! 👍
Welcome aboard!
You've done a great job pointing out all the conveniences as positives, but the reason I returned it after a few days of use.
1. The battery life was too short (4 hours/non-stop and just being powered on drains the battery quickly).
2. The photo quality was disappointing. I took a picture of the car directly in front of me while driving, but the license plate was unreadable.
3. charges pretty fast, but imagine having to carry a bulky case everywhere with you especially in the summer.
Other than these drawbacks, I really liked it, but I'll wait for a version with better battery life & pic quality. Hopefully pretty soon...
are you and me the only ones that see all the crap that these meta glasses are
@@Mowhawk1965 Yeah, but I see its huge potential though...
Fix the aspect ratio, and I will buy it too.
I have been interested in a smart glass wearable for some time now. It seems like they've finally reached a point where they can be useful in some everyday tasks for me. Even though I don't wear regular glasses, I might try the sunglass version. The Ai integration is the major selling point to me.
I totally agree!
I think people like myself will want our own open source LLM's in them instead of Meta's. Being able to train it what you do everyday who you speak with, how to improve could be beneficial to life and individuals would be able to sell or license their own data if they want like Trons discs - wait did i just create another new type company ? 🤔

Wow This is an Absolute Game Changer and I'm so in! 🤩
Does it play background music for you whenever you talk? Because apparently it's important to have.
An interesting next step. I integrated an Apple Watch into my life a few years ago and find that I don't reach for my phone as much. It helps manage notifications and allows me to access my calendar etc at a glance. Sounds like to glasses could be a good way to go. I do find that I'm charging something regularly. Also, I keep a 10,000 Ma battery close now.
Thanks for sharing!
I adore the combination of stylish leather and glowing button
I'll be very interested when glasses include a heads-up display and lenses adjust to light level. Very glad to see Meta teaming up with Ray Ban to bring something like this to market.
As an ex cybersecurity specialist, I find this extremely concerning. Where do you think all that data goes? Not even mentioning other people's privacy violation. This device needs some serious laws around it.
LMFAOOOOO
I assume it goes to the same place where literally every tech company sells it to, the US govt. Everything you do in public is already captured on surveillance cameras. If you still go about your day as if nobody is watching, then its no wonder why you are no longer in cybersecurity.
Wow, nice jab there albeit unnecessary. Did you not ask about opinions in your video, or only the ones that agree with you are welcome? I am no longer in cybersecurity because I chose a different path. I never did and still do not condone normalizing the tech companies and the government collecting data on people without their consent. And even when in public, there's this thing called "a reasonable expectation of privacy" that humans are entitled to. Just because people are in public it doesn't automatically give others the permission to record them without their knowledge and consent or use that footage in public forums. @@iPhoneAppReviewer
Everything you do in public could possibly be recorded but what about what you do in private? You let someone wearing these glasses in your home does that mean you are now allowing them to record you?
@@andrewduncan9657 You let someone in your home that has a camera phone, does that mean you are allowing them to record you? Does a camera phone have a bright indicator light that indicates it is actively recording?
LOL. He traded in his phone addiction for a all immersive nightmare. Good on you, mate.
and what exactly makes it a nightmare?
@@moodlethenoodle because like everyone who falls for this, they become deluded that they are actually engaged in real life. In reality, he will be looking right through people instead of at them. Besides the other factors of invasion of privacy, over reliance on technology, long term health effects, and economic impacts, the social isolation will bring on the final stage of impotent humans. Didn't you see Wall-e? LOL. Blech.
Nightmare? How? What's so hard to understand. Less FB, TT, IG, WhatsApp... take your attention back. You're welcome.
@@moodlethenoodle Besides the headaches, eyestrain and dizziness, the isolation, disassociation, etc. And without others, we grow bored, restless, frustrated and sad. There are of course exceptions. Some people are loners. The real nightmare begins when they are no longer just an option.
@eunoiavision7567 They're normal glasses. They're not going to give you a headache unless you have the wrong prescription? Tf about these glasses makes it hard to socialize?
You're making up arguments without thinking if they make sense.
This is so fantastic, I definitely would want sunglasses and it will make all be more concious of their privacy. Like dressing rooms ETC, I think it's so beneficial to have hands free in different situations and also all that you mentioned. The fact you need your phone on you isn't really a downfall as we don't really go many places without one, however it would be cool to have a separate option for those that want a camera and video without phone but that would probably be 5 years away, were these are here now.
Very interesting. I’ve been needing a way to video from my perspective but refused to strap a GoPro to my forehead. These look perfect. Thank you for the information.
A better solution than weak speakers that others can hear too would be bone conduction, ideal as the frames touch just the right part of the head. When they get this improvement and when images can be projected inside the lenses to replace device screens, I'm in!
I thought this too but after getting a pair I’m now convinced that bone conduction (like the bose glasses) would have been inferior-the speakers on these definitely sound loud and good enough. A lot of people (with an iPhone) complaining about volume seemingly forgot to disable the “reduce loud audio” option in settings
Shhhhhhh that's the next generation 😂I hear ther working on one of those shake generation batteries 🔋 wireless charger, only for some reason solar wasn't thought of either just copper ball suppository with 3 extra self lube rubber boots 1 ribbed 😅
Weird.
I would prefer bone conduction as well. I don't like the idea of others potentially hearing what's being said to me, or even hearing if I'm just listening to a podcast or audio book.
@@bluethunder90They're very inaudible to others unless listening at loud volumes. Middle volume and below no one can hear much.
We looked at these in vision express, didn’t give any personal details to the shop, this morning I have this video on my YouTude, thanks META, love you tracking movements 🎉, the glasses were great too, not too heavy, looking like a great birthday present 🎉🎉🎉
☺️
Great presentation, Marcus. What's your guess on these glasses recording at 4K with landscape option? For one's own safety in a crowd at night, can the little white light be turned off or covered with a black dot?
I would say the only negative is I can only record up to 1 minute in length; however, the Meta Ray Ban Smart Glasses are nice especially being able to obtain 'prescription' glasses. I am addicted to mine as well. I do utilize mine for listening to music, work calls (via bluetooth) and receiving calls on the go especially while driving via double tab to pick up the call and double tab to end the call. Great video. Thanks!
These glasses are becoming really interesting and over time I foresee it becoming mainstream as the adoption rate increase due to technology advancements. Are they also compatible with Android? I would love to see audio GPS route navigation integrated into these glasses, that would assist reaching destinations without being distracted using Google maps on my phone.
As a techy I'm going the opposite direction in terms of using big tech gadgets that help them spy on my life. With the country divided and big tech clearly on one political side. It's terrifying to put my personal life in their hands. Thanks for the video, but I'll take the dumb raybans with my Pixel 6a and GrapheneOS.

If you care about a large entity having you information you're A: doing things you shouldn't be doing or committing illegal acts. B: you're paranoid and/or too insecure. Woot!! Have fun. Post back here and let us know what you think.
How long til meta force feeds adverts into your eyes?
Probably 15-20 years once everyone is using them regularly
It's getting close to being something I'd consider buying. The fact you can get prescription lenses fitted is a big plus, and the fact they look like ordinary glasses but I can't see me buying them until they get mixed reality sorted on these things. When that happens, I'm in!
Makes sense. They’re super cool though.
He Said "intergrated" in a few years this guy is getting chipped and Will recommend this to you
mixed reality with that ordinary glass design wont come until 2050...theres simply no technology that can make it happen.
@@neighborhoodtrollmy guess is that these glasses are coming out now because they already have the tech for mixed reality but they need a few more years to polish it. And these glasses are to help adopt people to that new platform.
No need to be saucy, because in a few years after that it will be CHIPPED or OUT, no bank account, no LEGAL employment (contracting or otherwise) maybe only ARMY wet work in some back lands.... NADA and no commerce, no one will be allowed to contact non-chipped on line or offline maybe internet access removed completely as the chip will be verified (inc tax ID ITIN, your companies owned (globally) and run the whole enchilada) that you are allowed online and its YOU. I purchased a two-years ago version and had to buy my first iPhone to work with it. I just used them for music and manual video/photo capture. I’ve been thinking about getting a new pair as I have the first pair away.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with the Meta Ray-Ban Smart glasses. I've got the transition lens on mine. I've used them as a headset for my phone. I also have a Blue Parrot headset. People can't tell the difference between the two on calls. I agree they are very convenient out-and-about by always having the ability to video or snap a photo. I also use them as cosmetically to enhance my 'look.'
The other day, I tested them during a beautiful sunset standing on the shoreline. I switched back and forth between my smartphone and the glasses. The 12 Mps still camera did an adequate job and I posted one of them on social media. It required downloading the image onto my camera to straighten the horizon and crop accordingly. I also used video to capture the last few seconds of the sun disappearing into the horizon. I recommend then highly.
What would a game changer is if it can replace the lens on demand like with Oakley Holbrook frames which Rayban also owns. Bose frames does the same. This will help me switch between prescription and sunglasses
That would be cool
To add…features like stabilizer for video recording that will be good for outdoor activities so i can ditch my go pro and gymbal accessories .Btw, I asked if I can use my RB meta glasses for running, unfortunately they don’t recommend it.
That would probably done digitally as it is too small to have an actual gyroscopic device.@@francisaragon1510
Now you’re addicted to your glasses
Hahaha. Hadn’t thought of it like that but it’s definitely the less of two evils. I’m not heads down distracted while my kids are living their lives in front of me.
I have single sided deafness. For many years they’ve offered a cross over glasses…speaker on the deaf ear side with wiring run through the frame of the glasses w a speaker on the good ear side.
Always considered getting them and wondering if something like this would work
Nice shots of Limerick, Co. California. Great review 😎
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Marcus for reviewing this, I have question, probably stupid one. I am just concerned about health related issues of glasses on long run. As it is so close to your brain, and eyes, and important organs, anything to worry about electromagnetic radiation from the glass?
I think they are 1-2 years away from more practical and being able to integrate our own LLM's in them . And 2 -3 years away from having a slicker design longer battery, better cam, better processing, 3-5 years away from a mass lifestyle shift.
I probably agree with you. To be honest I really wasn’t expecting them to be just as good as they currently are. Definitely feels like living in the future a bit.
their end goal with these is to integrate AR capabilities as well; think Tony Starks AR glasses in Spider Man.
Great review!
I travel a lot and was looking to get an action camera for that reason but this seems like a viable option. Is there be an option to take longer videos? Or is 60 seconds the limit?

I actually want these. They look good and seem useful...too bad about it being tied to Meta. I might get them if they are jail broken to get rid of the Meta stuff. I just want a good enough camera/Mic and Bluetooth connectivity on a pair of Ray -Bans.
I’m sure this is just the beginning. Give it 12 months and there will be an Apple and Google version.

I am in the same boat. I have my own AI self host infrastructure. My core of mobile apps have connected to my own services for years. I am not optimistic. I have waited over a decade for a decent open source smart watch.. oh and an E-ink reader as well. There are always shortcomings when jail breaking and much to be desired. Maybe now is the time we will see fully open hardware kits created by a community. We no longer need corporate cloud services for speech recognition and basic alexa / siri tasks. An open source crowd fund initiative might actually deliver. The timing is right.
@@MarcusCreates it's hilarious that this comes as a relief to some "oh thank god, I trust the other two so much more"

This is one of the best thing of the century on my opinion. On my last vacation I used my glasses 95% of the time and the phone 5% to capture moments. It replaced my Airpods, GoPro and phone to take videos.

I m waiting for this smart glasses to be able to watch video and text message . This helps people having problems memorise list of stuff and notes.
In the video you say they only shoot in portrait mode, but the shots of you outside show the video in landscape mode.
How are you doing this? Which video editing software are you using to stretch the video from portrait to landscape?

These glasses need to have a constant connection to your phone to use all the features, so going without your phone would seriously reduce the ability of these glasses to a camera, would they not!
As I said, it’s not a perfect system. I still bring my phone with me. But it reduces the number of times I pull it out and sets of the addictive phone loop.
I see, so leaving the phone at home and using cellular Apple Watch would not be possible?

Definitely intrigued. But personally, I'm waiting until they incorporate AR display into them. I'm more interested in having my vision augmented than using glasses as primarily a voice gadget.
The 1st gen was very problematic with the flex cable in the hinges that keeps breaking. Had mine replaced with warranty, broke the 2nd time after the warranty expired. Never again.

I've owned these for a month or so now. Used them a lot and even received compliments on the way they look. It's helped me shoot video when I'm doing photography as well as when I'm recording when I'm walking my dogs and other silly videos for FB stories. these are great, though they are not perfect.

Hi Marcus👋 ❤,
I just watched your video and it couldn't have come at a better time. I also wear glasses and find it difficult to switch between glasses and sunglasses while handling my phone, packages, and my dog. Sometimes, I even forget to carry my phone with me. Your experience resonates with me.
I have missed out on many opportunities because I didn't have my phone or glasses with me. It's quite challenging for me to manage everything at once. Your recommendation and review are a great help.🙏✨💪👏
I’m so glad. Thanks for commenting. ☺️
I kinda regret not getting mine woth transition lens. I got them dark, this glasses are really good can't wait to go to 6flags and record its like having a go pro on your head!
I have been showing this video to all my students learning English to see if they recognise your accent (they failed). But they did enjoy the video and were amazed at the glasses. I am guessing, but would like to make sure beforehand, that with the audio and mic you can do Zoom calls with them?
