Wisconsin’s women’s team, one of the best programs of all time, plays at the much smaller (but not any less charming) LaBahn Arena just down the street from Kohl Center
You’ll love the ECAC… 12 teams in northeast states, including the 6 Ivy League hockey schools. Yale’s rink might be the most unique in the country, and Princeton’s is over 100 years old and named after Hobey Baker (same guy as the hockey equivalent of the Heisman Trophy). It’s my favorite arena I’ve ever played at.
As someone who has been multiple times and even played on the ice in the junior league. The compton family ice arena is amazing and so is its atmosphere (ps: if u go here get the pretzel)
Thank you so much for reviewing college hockey arenas! You should do the ECAC next as half the teams are in the Ivy League and Yale's rink is one of a kind! Also don't forget Arizona State! Yes, they do actually play D1 hockey! But since they are so far away from any other team in the US, they are independent.
For what it's worth, all Minnesotans call the "3M Arena at Mariucci", "Mariucci". 3M bought the naming rights to Mariucci back in 2017. Too many legends came out of that barn, so we will always call it Mariucci, no matter how much 3M payed.
Fun to see Big Ten hockey featured on your channel. The Pegula donation was originally $88M, but ended up being over $100M by the time the program and arena were finished. The arena alone cost $90M and was modeled after Notre Dame in many areas (no surprise they have similarities).
The University of Michigan Yost ice Arena is one of the best sports venues I have ever seen! I grew up near Michigan and had no idea it even existed until this video!
This is fantastic, thanks. I know Munn went through a renovation recently, although I'm guessing that had as much to do with the player facilities (for recruiting) as it did with sprucing up the fan experience. I was a student at Wisconsin from 03 through 07, and had season tickets in the student section. It's a big venue, but back then they could fill it for hockey, and the atmosphere was absolutely phenomenal. The team's fallen on hard times lately, though, and only average about half capacity (and even then, I think that's tickets sold vs. fans in stands). The one downside is that the Kohl Center is dual purpose (it also hosts the basketball team), and the upper tiers are designed with basketball in mind. When Herb Kohl made his donation, he wanted a basketball-centric arena. At the time he was the owner of the Milwaukee Bucks who (at the time) played at the Bradley Center, which was designed with sightlines optimized for hockey, and he was seemingly quite bothered by that. As a result, unless you're in the first 2-4 rows of the third tier at the Kohl Center for a hockey game, you might not be able to see the near side boards from your seats.
Yost Arena rocks! It's a great ice hockey venue. Michigan hockey fans are notoriously enthusiastic, and the atmosphere can be very intimidating for opponents
The Ohio State Women's Ice Hockey team still plays at The Ohio State University Ice Rink, while men's team still practices there and seats 1,000 people.
So glad to see you doing college hockey. hopefully you do all the conferences. I go to school at UMD in the NCHC and would be cool to see them in the video (considering we are right on Lake Superior).
2:52 since you included a photo of a Blackhawks pre-season camp (though I’m not sure you recognized that to be the case) you also could have noted that Notre Dame’s arena has been used by the NHL Blackhawks as a pre-season training camp venue
I wish the University of Iowa Men's Hockey went D1. They just built a new arena in town for an Echl team. Hopefully, they someday get a donation like the Pegula's for Penn State. Also, please do the ECHL next it would be amazing.
Recommend doing a Canadian Hockey League series eventually (WHL, OHL, QMJHL). Some really interesting little arenas across the country. Even Junior A leagues in Canada such as the BCHL have some really cool barns with lots of character!
Hey love your channel, would love to see some European basketball and Ice Hockey leagues being covered as I don't really know much about them and there are a lot of leagues and countries to go through
Notre Dame's is the nicest of every arena in the Big 10, no doubt. Munn has to be 2nd. The reason it doesn't look immaculate on the outside because most of the arena is below ground. Remember, Munn is in between the football stadium and basketball arena all within a block of each other. Yost isn't even within 3 blocks of either their basketball arena and football stadium so they have more land to use. Munn however did get a massive exterior upgrade and it looks amazing.
I need to give you a heads up there are two brand new arenas in College hockey that just opened up in this past month. Hockey East (UConn)and (Sacred Heart) Mattire Family Arena in the Atlantic Conference.
Just for the record college hockey allows split benches and wide playing surfaces whereas the nhl doesn’t which i dont like personally but does give the rinls some nice variety
I hate Value City so much. It only was built as a failed attempt to keep the Blue Jackets away, and we have to deal with that poor decision making to this day. Its too big and souless for college basketball, so its awful for hockey edit: the high celling doesnt just hurt the atmosphere a little bit, it downright destroys it
So the Buckeyes arena was built hastily after the announcement of the NHL's Blue Jackets joining the league. It was an effort of OSU trying to get the team to rent their arena and take a slice of the pie. Much to their shock the Jackets built their own arena and the relationship between the University and the CBJ has been... contentious ever sense. Value City Arena is a terrible hockey venue, it's too big for the team and the University is lookinginto a hockey specific building for the men and women's teams. Go Bucks!
Soooo...... Ohio state and Wisconsin have arenas similar in size to what you would expect for a NHL team to play in. And yet their is the yotes 🤔🤔......

Technically the building is attached.
Not down the street. Next door/semi-attatched
Nobody watches women sports it's boring 😂
@@godofdestruction4636 women’s volleyball is well attended at Wisconsin
Who fucking cares?
The arenas at Ohio State and Wisconsin are also home the the respective school's men's basketball teams as well.
You should do the NCHC, which is known to be the best conference in college hockey! Some pretty cool venues in that conference!

Also don't forget Arizona State! Yes, they do actually play D1 hockey! But since they are so far away from any other team in the US, they are independent.
How ASU got a D1 team when Arizona and others have been playing club hockey forever is a mystery. :)

HockeyEast is great too. A lot of historic arenas there.
The University of Michigan Yost ice Arena is one of the best sports venues I have ever seen! I grew up near Michigan and had no idea it even existed until this video!

“Madhouse in Madison” is obviously a pun on Chicago’s famous “Madhouse ON Madison”
Yost Arena rocks! It's a great ice hockey venue. Michigan hockey fans are notoriously enthusiastic, and the atmosphere can be very intimidating for opponents
Its funny you say that I'm the third cousin of who its named after 😃
The Ohio State Women's Ice Hockey team still plays at The Ohio State University Ice Rink, while men's team still practices there and seats 1,000 people.
Have to get Hockey East Arenas on the list! There are some great ones in the league!!
If you’re doing college hockey arenas, you’d love the CCHA!
You should do the rest of the college hockey rinks and conference's
Minnesota's and Michigan's barns are pretty dope.
So glad to see you doing college hockey. hopefully you do all the conferences. I go to school at UMD in the NCHC and would be cool to see them in the video (considering we are right on Lake Superior).
Let's Go Dog's!
It’s cool to see the Norte dame arena in this video because I’ve played on that ice before and seen a game there and it was both cool
HockeyEast is arguably the best competition in playing and the rinks can’t wait to see you do that one
Munn Ice Arena is really nice, it’s very modern and good seating.
Wow, the arched windows really make the Yost Arena. And I agree, there is just the right amount of Irishness at ND's arena.
2:52 since you included a photo of a Blackhawks pre-season camp (though I’m not sure you recognized that to be the case) you also could have noted that Notre Dame’s arena has been used by the NHL Blackhawks as a pre-season training camp venue

The next video you should do the CHL with the 3 leagues WHL OHL QMJHL. Love the vids brother 🤙🏼

My guy, you are 🔥 fire. Keep up the good work.
Love your videos mate
Cheers!
Can't wait for Arizona State, since they play in a "professional" arena. I look forward to jokes about the Coyotes
I think all of these are bigger and better than where the Coyotes play.
you should totally do the American conference basketball stadiums!
Back when the Wisconsin Men were wining national championships, the Kohl Center was insane for Hockey. Need to get back to that.
Hey love your channel, would love to see some European basketball and Ice Hockey leagues being covered as I don't really know much about them and there are a lot of leagues and countries to go through
Will do.
If you plan on doing more hockey arenas, then you should do the ECHL arenas. There’s 28 teams, so plenty of arenas to cover.
Hit up the NCHC… I spend many evening watching games in the Ralph Engelstad Arena
Can you do Finnish ice hockey league called "liiga" arenas. It's the highest finnish hockey league.
I'm sure I will get that video made eventually. I was just in Finland a couple of weeks ago actually. It's a nice place, except for Salmiakki.
@@TheWideWorldofStadiums Nice 👍🏻
I've been watching the Champions Hockey League on TV. The Tappara rink looks like a fun place to watch a game.
@@Liggie55821 Yes nokia arena is very good rink! Probably best in Finland and one of the bests in whole Europe.
Hockey East next!!
Quality content!!!
Cheers!
I am shocked that Iowa doesn't have a hockey team

I will be attending the Mattire Arena this upcoming month and I can provide you photos if you need them.
Would love to see the Horizon League basketball arenas at some point.
Please do ECHL Arenas next please!
Minnesota is known as the state of hockey for a reason look at the teams roster it’s almost all Minnesotans and it’s been that way forever
Just got off work. Sucks to be suspended from wrestling school, but this will do. Thanks for the upload. Much appreciated.
No worries. Thanks for watching!
@@TheWideWorldofStadiums Yeah definitely. You should do a classic arenas used by wwwf/WWF/wwe. Nor alot of em left and its a blast from the past.
One recommendation for a video(s) could be to do European hockey leagues. Would love to see a video about the DEL (german league) arenas.
Notre Dame has my favorite college hockey arena
yes he did it!
you should do the Australian Ice Hockey League next
Thanks for listening to my suggestion
Could you do the ccha next
Kohl Center is after former U.S. Senator Herb Kohl from Wisconsin and his family own the department store chain Kohls in the United States.
I love College Hockey 🏒!
Please do sec college baseball stadiums
The only conference where Notre Dame is in the big ten 😢
Please join I’d take you guys any day over the previous 5 additions to our conference
As a Delawarean, I appreciate the nod to Delaware
You should do the NCHC next!
You should do the OHL next or the WHL or QMJHL, all part of the CHL
Looking forward to The Ralph when you get to the NCHC. It’s nicer than some NHL venues.
Can u do the ICE Hockey League from Austria/Italy/Hungary
Can you please do East Coast Conference basketball Arenas
please do mountain west basketball arenas next
Can we do the stadiums of the Greater Toronto Area
Atlantic Hockey next!
Terry and wife Kim Pegula also own the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres and the NFL’s Buffalo Bills.
NCHC hockey next?
You missed Mullet Arena of the ASU Sun Devils.
ASU isn't in any conference at the moment. They did play a Big Ten away schedule last season, which is what you might be thinking of.
When did they join the Big 10?
They were only part of the B1G for the 20-21 season so they could be in their COVID bubble. Otherwise they are independent.
Just for the record college hockey allows split benches and wide playing surfaces whereas the nhl doesn’t which i dont like personally but does give the rinls some nice variety
Are you going to cover ACHA arenas
Please do the NCHC arenas
btw 3M DOES NOT stand for eminem lol it's the Minnesota based manufacturing company 3M...
When do the CCHA St Thomas just announced there new arena.
Do ACHL college hockey stadiums
2:00 As a Gopher fan I’m not thrilled about the “3M Arena at” sponsorship. But please tell me you were joking about 3M referring to Eminem 😂.
SKI-U-MAH! GO GOPHERS!〽️🐿🏒
U should do summit league conference 🏀 arenas
Do more college hockey
Yost was the best rink
3M is a Minnesota company that is famous for Scotch tape and Post-it notes.
duh
Nchc next please!!!!!
Still hoping for Indiana high school arenas
