  • Australian entrepreneur Sarah Hilleary entered The Den pitching her gluten-free cake company 'B-Tempted', she piqued Tej Lalvani's interest but not before she annoyed The Den with her 'excuses' to why her products were dormant for four years whilst she filed for permanent residence... But who doesn't like a sweet treat? wink wink
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

Some people get nervous and some people have bad memories and some have actual medical conditions which makes things like that much harder.
This just adds to the stress factor of the person pitching and lets the dragons use this to establish higher ground in negotiating.

How much the brownies cost to produce, how much she sells them for. Then they'd be able to work out her gross profit at least. But she didn't and she probably had a reason to not divulge that information. It's not unlikely that she had no margins at all.

The dragons do bluff and outline the flaws quite often so I can see why you would think they exploit the visitors on the show but in the end you have to do your research and prepare yourself - which could be by bringing in a piece of paper with all the figures on it so you don't get nervous, its not an exam and I'm sure the dragons would understand not everyone has a brilliant memory or great at maths.

I've watched many of these videos and learnt two things: no dragon is happy with 5% of a business and the fastest way to fail is to set a £million + valuation based on low or flat sales. I've also heard that half the deals made on the show never happen afterwards, so what you see is not what you get.

Good grief what part of what Peter said do t you understand? He clearly asked about why she was stagnant for 4years. She said it was because she was Australian & Jenny explained she didnt know the state of her visa for those 4 years. Afterwards she mentions that she is now allowed to stay indefinitely on her visa. He was questioning her numbers for those years after she started off saying she was stocked in every upmarket shop in UK. Pretty simple unless you are looking to complain about 10 min clips on youtube channels then maybe this was a win for you?

Amazon will probably sell them at 1.24 knowing their strategy; kill the competition by cutting prices, making a loss, and using profits from other departments of the business to cover the losses, then end up with less competitors and more sales.
