    To add heading sensor is important however, if you have one boat network you make your console hummingbird use the GPS on front of boat on one of the hummingbird control head. This way the whole boat to include Ipilot minnkota is using GPS. The heading sensor is cheaper than the combo unit.

      I would not recommend that. Your waypoints will be WAY off when you are marking at the console. The way I explained in this video will give you the BEST results.

    I have a Helix 12G2 MSI at the console with Helix 10G3 MDI on the bow with MK Ulterra TM with iPilot Link all networked. My puck was installed on gunwale adjacent to the driver’s seat. For more accurate waypoints for the Helix 12 should I move the puck to the stern & add a second puck to the bow for the Helix 10?

    Does the AS GPS HS open up different menus on the graph with regard to navigation or trolling motor functions?

    I have one boat network, but since my Helix Gen 4 in and solex does not share Maps should I just go ahead and buy two of the GPS pucks for each head unit, that way they have their own individual hitting sensor?

    Im going to have a helix 12 at my console and one at the bow. If I order The compass heading sensor puck (Humminbird AS GPS HS Precision GPS Antenna w/Heading Sensor) would that be the one I would put at the bow for directional arrow. Then the Humminbird AS GRP Precision GPS Antenna at the back for side scan etc for the console one? Thanks.

    I do have a question? Forgive me if this doesn’t make sense. I understand all of what you described. My question is can I have two of these mounted on my boat, one for the front graphs and one for the rear of the boat for the transom transducer. Also if I have two graphs at the console can I use the gps puck for both graphs at the console?

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před rokem +1

      Yes it makes perfect sense to have one at the bow an one at the console. You can share this puck through the network (ethernet) so if you had two graphs at the console you would want to use the rear mounted one for both of them. Same at the bow...you could use a single puck as your GPS/Heading source for the two bow mounted graphs.

    Ok so I got a ulterra installed and a gps puck and got my boat back from the shop. They pair the ulterra and the puck and remote. I took it out today to test it out and went to do the calibration on the puck and it just keeps saying calibration failed. I did it several times with the TM and with the engine both directions and get the same error message. The shop being Minnkota certified dealer I would think they would know to check for location for the puck. It is installed right next to the ulterra.

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před rokem

      It could be getting interference. Grab a compass and see if it wigs out when you put it in that location after you have disconnected power to the heading sensor. If it reacts when the trolling motor or nearby electronics are powered on you'll have to move it. IDK what else it could be... sucks

    So I have a Lowrance Elite Ti2 9" at my console, my Minn Kota puck in the front beside the Minn Kota Terrova trolling motor. Of course, the transducer at the rear of the boat. About 15' between the puck and transducer. You're saying my waypoints are off 15'?

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před rokem

      That minn kota puck does not communicate with your Lowrance graphs. Your waypoints are going to be off by the distance between your transducer and your head unit as that is where your GPS antenna is located. For better performance you would want a point 1 antenna

  • @landone01
    @landone01 Před rokem +1

    I don’t see how the 1st reason is viable. Isn’t it most accurate if I were to use my cursor on my graph and pinpoint the exact spot I want to mark. Shouldn’t that take care of any 10 +/- because I put my mark directly onto that POI

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před rokem

      No because the return is based off of the location of your transducer and the waypoint is being marked from the location of your graph.

  • @robertharris7887
    @robertharris7887 Před rokem

    Are you saying if I have the puck mounted at my graph at the bow if I mark waypoints from the graph on the console my waypoints are going to be off if I move to the bow and make casts?

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před rokem

      If you select the puck as your GPS source that is where your will mark waypoints from. Each unit can have a different GPS source. Holler back if you have any further questions

    Umm so this must be the reason I’ve been having problems trying to locate what I’ve already marked, so I had an puck stored in the front of the boat so when I’m at the console thinking I’m marking what’s in the back I’m always off the mark so should I have an puck stored at the rear of the boat?

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před rokem

      Either add a puck to the back or go into your network setup menu and make sure your GPS source is the unit itself and not the puck up at the bow.

    Hi, I have the I-Pilot link with the minn kota heading sensor puck. I bought a Humminbird gps heading sensor as well for my bow Solix 12 using the 360 and have it plugged directly into the unit. Does this cancel out the minn kota heading sensor for the I pilot link when using the ultrex? I also just purchased one more humminbird puck for my console Solix 12 and ran the puck back over my rear transducer. So my Console and front bow graph has it's own humminbird puck. Is the minn kota puck being used at all? Thank you!

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před rokem

      It doesn't sound like you have a need for the minn ķota puck other than to provide your motor heading for your spot lock jog feature. When you go to network source setup and you can view which GPS source is selected. You should see the two humminbird pucks as well as the ipilot source

  • @raybly6613

    do you need one if you have i pilot link ?

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před 4 měsíci

      No. You can tie into your iPilot Link trolling motor for GPS and heading.

    • @raybly6613
      @raybly6613 Před 4 měsíci

      the only with that is when you stow your ulterra it messes up the heading at least it does on mine.
