    I got one of these used at a pawn shop. It had Seymour Duncans with a coil split on it and was in great shape, dirty, but still in great shape. By God's grace, I haggled their 399 asking price down to 300! Great guitar at a killer price!

    599$ sounds great for that guitar, but ..WTF, it`s 899€ in Europe....that's 1060$..I mean really?! Damn...

    • @TaarLps
      @TaarLps Před 6 lety +3

      Same with the JPs. In the US they are about 600$ or something, in germany 999€. Fuck this shit.

      Korean made guitars are basically the workhorses of guitars today. They are made well in most cases, sound great and are more affordable than their American and Japanese made counterparts.
      But the non OEM hardware, wood of good quality and construction by trained luthiers (at least in the case of world musical instruments) are not cheap.
      But Korean made guitars have been known to equal American and Japanese production guitars in all the right places.

      +Phil Duggan And what is the connection to my comment? I don't want to start with that discussion MiK, MiC, MiJ, MiA, what is better, etc.
      I just mentioned the huge price difference for the same product.
      (I know the distributor get their piece of the cake, but nearly 500$ more is unjustified...)

    • @PhilDuggs
      @PhilDuggs Před 6 lety +3

      Lukas K You forget importing to different countries can cost more depending on customs tax and the VAT of the country. But this is a common this, american brands charge more here than others a good example is mesa a dual rec new is close to 3000 now it is less in the states howevee Diezel amps are alot cheaper here than they are in the states. it can depend on the manufacturer and distributor

    • @guitarnerd_luke
      @guitarnerd_luke Před 6 lety

      [I own 2 Boogies, so yes I know that. But they ship them right from the US to Europe and the Distributors have to pay for everything. The Shipping, the guarantee, etc. Mesa does nothing, after it left the states, so offcourse someone has to pay that...]
      But if the guitar is made in Korea, they could just send them directly to the distributors, without extra vat. Anyways...the guitar might be worth 599$ but you could get more guitar for 899€ (new and offcourse more used).
      BTW a Fender Strat, Tele, etc. (Mex, US or J.) costs nearly the same everywhere on the world, so it is possible...without 45% price difference.

    I bet this thing would be great for metal! That single coil bridge pickup (modeled after a tele pickup) would (should) sound amazing with high gain saturation.

    Wdyt about this guitar in term of quality? Is it on par with MIM Fender? On verge between this vs MIM Fender or Squier Tele with humbucker single coil configuration.

    • @cgoebbert
      @cgoebbert Před rokem

      If you haven’t made a choice yet, go Sterling. The necks are superior feeling IMO and the quality is surprisingly on par or better than MIM Fenders. I own both the EBMM and Sterling versions and I can say the EBMM is still there - maybe not exactly the same but for the price they’re at, it’s hard to beat. And EBMM inspects all Sterlings that come in before going out to dealers so there’s an added level of QC there. If they discover a guitar lacking in standards, they pull it, collect anymore, analyze the situation to see if there’s an issue with an area of manf and address it at the factory, should that be necessary. Outside of PRS, I don’t know of another American manf that has this high of QC in their budget line as well as the USA made instruments.

    The Ernie Ball version also has a coil split for the neck pickup, which adds some additional tone possibilities. I do agree, however, that the Sterling guitars are a great value.

    • @larryh.3173
      @larryh.3173 Před 4 lety +1

      I saw a video with Valentine with his EB version, and he mentioned how "important that split neck setting was for his funk rhythm stuff"-and that he uses it "all the time". (Er, I think he's not known for soloing.) So, I'm pretty amazed that Sterling didn't decide to include it, too. Wow. IMHO, we shouldn't have to pay for such a "Valentine-necessary" mod right off the bat, esp when things like that are easy and cheap to add on during the build. Heck, they're common even on less expensive guitars. And as always, YMMV there.

  • @michaelnelson9668
    @michaelnelson9668 Před 6 lety

    Nice playing as always. Enjoyed the tonal quality during the playthrough without the drums. Something was lost in the mix. Did you just throw shade at a whole bevy of youtube channels? Guantlets thrown? Another riff wars on the horizon?

    • @inmusica
      @inmusica Před 6 lety +1

      John Rojas Mathews Phillips, you don't need to be rude. I have checked the their website, and several other web sitses, and it does not say what shape the neck is. all Sterling homepage gives is the neck width. Check your facts before commenting on a legitimate question.

    • @inmusica
      @inmusica Před 6 lety

      Again. I have looked. The width at the nut and body are different on each guitar. The radius is also different. Therefore the necks are not the same. I own a Musicman Valentine and don't always want to take it out.

    Why do you demo this guitar playing a different style of music? Just because it doesn't look 'high gain'? Fuck I hate that. A good guitar is supposed to do anything. Go tell fucking Josh Homme not to use his 200 dollar shitty guitar he used to write all of the Kyuss records.
