Did China FLOOD a Desert?

  • How did China turn a desert into an oasis? Did they really flood the place?
I travelled to Kubuqi Desert in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, to find out how a place once known as the Sea of Death is known covered in lakes and rivers.
And of course, whilst in the desert I absolutely had to try out some of the local desert cuisine, which just so happened to be desert crabs. Yes! Crabs in the desert!
And whilst appreciating the beauty of Kubuqi Desert, I also found time to fit in some rather terrifying desert adventure tourism.
If you like this video PLEASE do hit that LIKE BUTTON! It really, really helps. And don't forget to leave a comment. Stay safe and keep looking out for one another.

According to history, the project to rescue the lands started during Mao administration, and some were added at later periods making the environments in China very beautiful although industrial cities have very bad air pollution. But in fact, most parts of China have very beautiful environment. Although the real ideal at that time was to be able to produce more foods, it's very great to see a desert disappearing from man's efforts.

another example of wasting water just like what Las Vegas does to the Lake Mead. Just ask yourself if it is a cost-effective way of using water. if it is not, it won't last long.

This is great until you are no longer able to continue diverting water from these rivers. Especially during the increasingly prolonged drought like periods that have been affecting China and many other countries around the world recently. I fear for the sustainability of these oasis’.

How sustainable are annual flood waters from the Yellow River? What happens during drought? Does the desert dry back up or does water continue to be diverted from the Yellow River? If the latter, wouldn't it be robbing Peter to pay Paul? Hasn't the Yellow River already run dry for years in the lower reaches because of diversion of irrigation waters? upstream?
