Russell Westbrook is relentless. When he wants the ball, it doesn’t matter how high up in the air it is, or who is in his way. He throws his body around like it’s a crash test dummy; all in pursuit of the basketball. Is he the best rebounding guard in the NBA? I can’t say for certain, but he is definitely up there.
Russ wreaks havoc on rims. His wrists must be made of something stronger than bone, because the way he brings down boards, turns on the jets, and goes AT the rim would hurt regular folks. His leaping ability makes you jump out of your seat, and I tried to best capture a variety of his rebounding with this video. Of course, the point is what he does with the ball off the boards, so you’re going to be seeing quite a bit of offensive rebounds.
Obviously this isn't comprehensive, by any means. The guy averages 1.6 rebounds on the offensive glass, so this is more meant to be fun, and show off what he can do. - Sport

Leaves his man open on defense to grab an unnecessary rebound or grabs his rebound off of a missed shot attempt. Some teammates allow him to grab their rebound & he misses up on easy shots for an assist.
Doesn't mean he statpads all 10 of his rebounds on average. Means he does statpad some of them. We've all seen the footage of it.

@@spyridon7896 so why exactly does Drummond avg what he does? Is it him actually being an amazing rebounder or size and placement? Its size and placement, ofcourse big men lead the league in rebounds, they're right by the damn rim. Doesn't make them great, guys like Rodman, Barkley etc are great rebounders because they actually hunt the ball and have a knack for it like Westbrook, quick stat for u... before he avg a triple double Westbrook had multiple yrs of avg 7-8reb so it's always been him. Meanwhile his center Adams never had a season over 8reb so who is he stealing from? Nobody. Ask any coach(I'm one btw) who would u have, a go getter like Westbrook or someone that's gonna stand there and say that's the "big man's" job? Usually the team leading the game in rebounds wins... idc who gets it, get me rebounds. Never seen so much hate for someone playing hard smh
This extreme athleticism of his increases his possibility of injuries. And the reason why this guy is superhuman because he havent got a serious injury yet.

Elijah Osakwe so this video came out in December of 2015. At that point, Rondo had come off a career best 7.5 rebounds per game the last season, Giannis was averaging 6.5, DWade is a historically good rebounding guard. So, there was still room for debate because his career numbers (including up to the point where this was uploaded) was about 5-6 boards a game.
Granted. But I'll probably never consider Giannis a guard personally. I also assumed you meant point guards. I think shooting guards are bound to rebound better than point guards, with Rondo and Russ being the only exceptions.
