Stemming from one of the most influential video games of all time, FF7 remake is set to be one of the most ambitious gaming projects ever. I honestly found the swearing to be a great addition, even for Aerith. They are, after all, 21+ years old. It'd be odd to NOT hear people swear, even a little. I think the personalities were fleshed out excellently. Every character was enjoyable to watch/play.
It's an issue of localization, in the Japanese version she says "uso" (not "kuso") which just reflects disbelief.
The English script in general, as always, is very weird.
If she has witnessed her future through her relationship with the lifestream similarly to Sephiroth, or however they've become aware of the future, I imagine that seeing your life play out through to your death and beyond would have a way of changing a girl from her original innocent self.
It's the devs telling us that she's different now. Least that's how I interpret it.

27:47 Aerith 100% knew the message behind the yellow flower and why she gives it to Cloud. The script of this game is so carefully written specially in the comparisons with the OG. In an Ultimania it is said that because flowers are so rare in Midgar, Aerith sells them at the high price of 200-300 gil each, so in the OG FF7 she gives Cloud a huuuuge discount by selling him the flower for 1 gil, surely because when she saw him for the first time he reminded her of Zack and she wanted to have that detail with him because of that, on the other hand in FF7Remake, now that Aerith is aware of the future, of who Cloud really is, the bond they're going to have together and what he will mean to her, she gives the flower to him for free this time, small details that if this was a normal Remake wouldn't be necessary to change, but because her plot changes from the beginning of the game, small deviations like that begin to appear
Also that’s why after she gave him the flowers the Whispers attacked her because how dare she forget to charge him one gil. The FF7 fanbase : reeeee she didn’t give the flower on the house.

I think that Cody Christian did a fantastic job as Cloud. Same thing with Brianna White as Aerith, she’s actually my favorite version of the character.

I always thought the whole point of aeris/tifa is that the person who works in a bar is the naive/innocent one and the flower seller is actually the streetwise one who eg suggests cloud dresses up as a girl, fleeces people for money outside the Honey Bee Inn, etc. so the swearing makes perfect sense.
yeah, aerith was _never_ the innocent one, but people have spent 25 years overwriting and misremembering her personality in the original game that when remake expressed her in that personality people thought she was changed. aerith has always been like this.

@@gorimbaudAfter the original game, the compilation just turned her into the perfect angelic personality which is why people remember her this way. She was basically re characterised slightly for 20+ years before reverting to her OG personality in the remake trilogy with some slight more maturity because she knows the situation she’s in which changed in rebirth though as she goes back to being just as clueless about the future as the rest
Reunion refers to the meeting of all the “sephiroth clones” at the top of the northern crater.

Also refers to Hojo's Reunion Theory, all of Jenova's cells will all come together, i.e reunite in one point. Just like what Jenova/Sephiroth did in the Northern Crater
Sephiroth's reunion and Hojo's reunion both sound like one in the same thing. One is from Sephiroth's perspective and the other theory is from a scientist's perspective.
some say the OG ff7 is just a vision Aerith had. The first scene and the last scene, is Aeirth looking into the life stream...the remake is for realzes now
The toilet paper thing: In that scene where you talk about the toilet paper, you can see the rather iconic design of a toto washlet, these are pretty common in Japan, almost 95% of toilets are washlets whilst they are quite rare in the rest of the world. Washlets have this function where after you're done, you can activate a spray that shoots warm water out and cleans washes the area. Once you're clean, it can then blast warm air at the area like a hand dryer. As such, there is no need for toilet paper when using one of these contraptions. However, these are still quite expensive to install and maintain therefore not all of the population in Midgar would be able to have one of them. You would expect the Shinra toilets to no longer require toilet paper, as for disaster struck poor ghettos, they will likely still need toilet paper.
i wonder if it was more japanafied it would have some cheapo hose but u see similar things in india or philipins where ppl just pour water on themselves imaging their use of water spells
Ugh I can’t wait to see Cosmo Canyon and hear the theme 🎶 🥺😭 one of my favorite areas as a kid. Plus the story and resolution with Nanaki and his story 😭

I can't wait for the cutscenes, like the Weapon cutscenes. Also I wonder how they'll do the Golden Chocobos, cuz with the way the World is probably gonna be with alot more depth. Gotta wonder how they'll let the Golden Chocobo run across the ocean, the mountains and stuff. Also the KOTR summon is gonna be so sick to watch in HD. and finally I absolutely can't wait to get my ass kicked by Ruby weapon again.

The original FFVII wasn't turn-based battle, it was time-based battle. It's one of the reasons I liked FFVII to other contemporaries and successors. Time-based gave players the option to USE the timing system to their advantage, and had to consider it to their detriment in a very different way than turn-based does.

Roche isn’t a joke character lol. He’s a SOLDIER experiencing the violent high of his mako injections, to be followed with a devastating crash. Everyone is afraid of him because of how unpredictable and extreme SOLDIERS are. We’ll see him again in later parts, he’s obsessed with fighting Cloud and has a motorcycle so I’m sure we’ll run into him at different points going forward, and his decline will become more and more apparent until eventually he’s just a shadow of his former energetic self, and Cloud will have to put the poor guy out of his misery. I think it’s really cool honestly.
Theory: ff7R is in a time loop. Each time, at the end of each loop, sephiroth doesn't die once defeated in the crater, but somehow goes to the past and tries to change the timeline. Each time getting closer to change the events in a fashion that allows him to reach his goal. Ff7R is the loop in wich the events are finally unshackled by fate, and can change, leading to sephiroth final demise, or his ultimate victory. This narrative device will allow devs to play around the original plot, giving them more freedom. "7 seconds to the end"... This sentence will be important.
It's definitely a loop, but I wonder if this is the first time around where Sephiroth and Aerith have retained any memory of their respective futures.
Like, the first game is the first round, and then the Remake is the second.
The original, while implicating a loop is happening with the beginning and end, didn't to my memory show anything that would imply that anyone knew anything about what was to happen. Like the Loop as a concept was more tacked on than originally intended.
Supporting this is the fact that in the Remake by altering anything of import there are forces at play that intend to keep things in line at all costs, none of which we see in the original.
@@turtlebuttmudd exactly! First game is the first loop imo. We don't know if remake is 2nd or more, but it's clear that both sephiroth and aeris remember things from previous loop(s). And by the end of remake, the forces that tried to keep things happening as the original game are defeated . We will wait and see if it's true!

I think Sephiroth is finally trying to warn Cloud about Jenoviroth killing Aerith in order to prevent her from entering the lifestream. The OG game it is exactly 7 seconds from when Jenoviroth appears to when the sword pierces Aerith. They also seemed to focus heavily on the fact Cloud stood there speechless as he watched it happen. "I wonder what you'll do"
Answer's simple. They use the Toilet Paper Materia.
FFVII canonically takes place over the course of two months (December 9 - January 21, or six weeks and two days), and there are a few hard details in the game itself that kind of establishes the timeline of events.
Meteorfall happens a week after the Raid on Midgar.
Tifa was unconscious for a week after the destruction of the Northern Crater.
I have figured for years now that major chapters in the story can be broken down into weeks pretty cleanly, and Remake has helped cement this. (the Oyasumi theme playing as part of the story basically counts as one canonical day)
Week 1 (December 9 - 15): The events inside Midgar from the Reactor Bombing to the escape from Shinra HQ (one day spent in Sector 7, Aerith's house, Wall Market if you were getting all the accessories, and up in Shinra HQ's holding cells)
Week 2 (December 16-22): Travelling from Midgar to Rocket Town (one day spent in Kalm, one day spent in Junon). Wutai may or may not have been visited at this point, too.
Week 3 (December 23-29): The hunt for the Keystone up to the Northern Crater. (one day spent in Gold Saucer, one day spent in Gongaga, one day spent in the Forgotten City).
Week 4 (December 30-January 5): Tifa is unconscious. Meteor is summoned, Weapons attack major cities, Shinra doesn't stop attacking Fort Condor.
Week 5 (January 6-12): Sapphire Weapon's attack on Junon up until the party's showdown against Hojo on the Sister Ray firing platform.
Week 6 (January 13-20): Cloud gets distracted with inbreeding Chocobos for a week before making a mad dash down to the planet's core to fight Sephiroth.
January 21: Meteorfall happens, Holy judges humanity.

No joke, I laughed out loud when Aerith said shit when I first played the game.
The "remake" thing was my biggest gripe with this game. People kinda already settled for what remake means. And people wanted that kind of reMAKE for FFVII. So creating this game and calling it remake was false marketing imho. The ending was just one big fanfiction of two producers who want to ride on FFVII's success again, but with their own "new" work put into it, wich is creative bankruptcy in my book. Wich makes the "essence of the original" argument incredibly shallow.
And this is coming from someone who isn't even into FFVII that much. Sure, I like it, but I consider FFIX far superior.
The whole toilet paper thing was HILARIOUS because the game came out in 2020 in the think of the first quarantine when we were having the toilet paper shortage! I know that wasnt a factor while they were developing the game but it still cracked me up
really great how they continue the compliation story and remake it! the ending of FFVII ends with aeriths face hinting at a cycle of events. this plus all the themes of reunion and the game literally reuniting fans w the franchise has just been great to experience as a long time fan. i know some fans have been picky here and there but I have really enjoyed where they are taking the story with rebirth.
also for the new voices, I just thought of it as it is a new universe so there are naturally differences than the main one (FFVII - Advent) that we are used to, even though the general conversation and dialog have resulted in the same as the original.

So, if you pay attention to the Scamp dog icon, you will notice that the one shown in the end with Zach is different than the one seen in the rest of the game. This could likely mean that is a different universe as well. Just thought I would mention this to the void.
In the OG, Aerith was flirty and scrapy at times. The swear was hilarious but expected. Tifa was mature and demure but could definitely kick your ass, which was expanded in the Remake.
Yeah, I expect her character to be mature and manipulative at times, she just act innocent lol

FFVII was never turn-based combat. And this new combat system is much more complex than a simple "hack and slash".
I think that the FF7 Remake is a sequel to FF7. The "Remake" is not a remake of the game, but it's inside the world, remaking the story. With the next part being called Rebirth, and being the part that will be so different from the original, as if the fates of the characters are created again, as if they are rebirthed. Just my theory, but the names of the 2 parts and Aerith knowing things, and the ending of Remake make is quite plausible, at least for me.
Nah it wouldn't make much sense. They'd do the traditional FF7-2 thing like FFX-2 and FFXII-2...
It is both a remake and a sequel. Those things are not mutually exclusive. It has everything a remake needs.

My assumption for this new timeline, is that Sephiroth 100% will try to avoid killing Aerith. With knowledge of the old timeline, he'll know that Holy isn't strong enough on its own to stop Meteor, and that killing Aerith put her in a position to control the Lifestream to empower Holy and save the world.
There's no way he (or Jenova posing as him) will kill her. More like that she'll try to find some way to control the lifestream without dying, but may end up having to sacrifice herself anyway.
I really love Aerith's character but It's hard for me to imagine the events of the game after the Forgotten City with her alive, I believe the scene will not play the same, I too believe there's 0 logic in Sephiroth killing her again so I imagine a scene where the Sephiroth from that present is falling down to stab her and at the last moment the One Winged Sephiroth from the final fight of Remake will appear and stop him, will say a few confusing words that nobody will understand besides Aerith and Cloud and she'll understand how crutial is for her to die, so the twist of this scene that can make it even more sad is that she will commit sucide basically

I agree, the forgotten city theme plays when sephiroth tells cloud about the 7 seconds so I think an event at that part of the game is altered at least

Remake does not necessarily mean different narrative, in fact, FF7Remake is like one of the very few 'Remakes' that deviate narratively from the original, but for 95% of cases it's only graphical and gameplay overhaul, like all these recent Resident Evil remakes or even the 2002 version of the original, all the Pokémon remakes, Mafia 1, Shadow of the Colossus, Demon's Souls etc.
remake = Reimagining, different narrative. yes but it's also a subtitle that someone in game story was doing that reimagining and changing the narrative.
@@LuisSR01 Tbf, back in 2015(5 years before release), Nomura had an interview in Famitsu confirming that it the plot will be different and won't just be a simple HD-ifying of the game. So I'm really confused why people are remotely surprised and even are salty about it.
The differences are because Sephiroth sent himself back in time to interfere, which is the Sephiroth we are seeing. The whispers of Fate are the force of fate trying to maintain the original timeline, but by defeating them, you've ensured that your party will now be able to alter the fated future.

As someone who love ff7 more than anything.. I was disappointed that they didn't change more... we have soo much more lore that we need...aerith was kidnapped by avalanche when she was a child yet it's not mentioned
Though I started with FF7 back in the 90's, and fell in love with the franchise ever since, I wouldn't go back to turn base combat ever again, it was good back then because it was the only thing we could have due to limitations in such big games, I much rather play in real time combat and I didn't mind the changes to the story in this remake, it's not like the original is forever gone.
Yeah I'm gonna be honest, I don't see them changing the events of Crisis Core as to be some sort of companion piece for the Remake. Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying the direction the Remake is going. It just feels wrong for them to remaster the whole game just to change the ending. And yes, obviously that's what they did with FF7 Remake, but that's FF7 we are talking about. Many people didn't get to play Crisis Core and I feel like the remaster is basically SE's way of letting more people experience it and learn the context of the main story.

imma just say this, a remaster is just an upgraded carbon copy of the OG game, a REMAKE is meant to be different thing from the OG but with setting & chars being mostly the same, you do not tear down something, just to rebuild it exactly the same, you change things

I thought a remake could include the reimagining of the story and overall plot, whereas a remaster is only the graphical enhancement with a few other minor changes; so I feel naming it FFVII Remake was correct
Quick correction: a “remaster” is when they update the same game with modern graphics with maybe some added bonus content like videos or optional bosses. A “remake” is what we saw with ff7 remake. Don’t get me wrong, I was just as at a loss as most at the end of episode 1 but after watching a handful of CZcams videos where this guy broke down how this is essentially a parallel universe and it makes sense lore wise, I’m all about it. I get to both see ff7 with updated graphics and at the same time I get a new mystery to solve and story to experience that I wouldn’t otherwise get if it was the exact same game.

If Zach is still alive then how did cloud get the buster sword? Shirley they wouldn't make it where Zach survived right. That would create a ton of plot holes moving forward. Like where was he during the entire first part of remake. Why would cloud and him split up right after surviving the shinra onslaught?
Cloud thought he was dead and left him.
As for the buster sword, it was left where Zack was presumeably "killed" - at least in FF7: AC. Cloud had a new version, and subsequently many variations of, the buster sword.
@@JoshuaGraves113 in crisis core they literally show Zach dying and passing the sword to cloud. I don't understand how Zach and cloud can both wield the sword at the same time. Seems like they are trying to do some weird multiverse thing.

@@JoshuaGraves113 he does, at the end of crisis core. He hands it to could and says "you'll be my living legacy." "You'll live for the both of us." You can look up the ending and watch it happen.
@@XxFarrinxXv2 As far as we know, Cloud could have carried for a short time as a mercenary, then put it back at Zack's grave - which is why he doesn't carry it in FF7:AC but does carry it in FF7. We know that 7 came before AC and CC before both.
If they're doing time shenanigans to explain Zack's appearance they could have some weird explanation but my theory is that he just never died at all and instead a grief-stricken Cloud left him in the valley where he ended up comatose from blood loss, woke up (like with the mako/Hojo experiments again), and just traveled a bit before trying to find Aerith.
The scene COULD show Zack dying but aftetwards we could find out how he never did probably due to the experiments Hojo did on him and Cloud.
Saying that the Will of the Fates aka Plot Ghosts are the reason for the plot changes at the beginning of the video is probably the most WRONG thing one could ever say about them. The Will of the Fates were beings in charge of keeping the Timeline THE EXACT SAME. They were here because of Sephiroth, a Sephiroth of unknown origin. Yes the Fates attacked Cloud at key points in the game but only for him to go forward when he was supposed to. Case and point, Barret not hiring Cloud to go to the next reactor which caused the timeline to diverge so Cloud would go onto the mission in a different way. Sephiroth killing Barret and the plot ghosts reviving him since he wasn't supposed to die. Sure the fates attacked Cloud when leaving Midgar when he was supposed to but that was to keep what ever version of Sephiroth THIS IS from leaving which caused Cloud and Co to kill the fates which caused ZACK to come into this timeline

Correction. FF11 and 14 both started with level caps of 50 and progressively raised them over the years. FF11 stayed at 75 cap for about 6 years. FF14 is still 90 cap only

the aerith VA changing i dont mind as much cause she was like a regular youtuber not even that big i think and she got the role its like her first major gig and she does a great job IMO
The voice actors had to deliver their lines in a VERY specific way and the had to read the words exactly with NO deviation and correct voice influctions. Also Avalanche did have a spy in the original FFVII as it was Cait Sith being controlled by the Shinra spy. Avalanche did have multiple factions as well in the original FFVII it just was mentioned in a couple dialogue screens and was easily missed which is why the developers made sure this time around to hammer this fact home. Toilet paper is not used in Japan as their toilets spray a water jet stream in your bum to clean it after use.

Maybe we'll find out it was invented during the four years Cloud and Zack were in captivity, which means Sephiroth doesn’t know about it either. Next time they fight, we're gonna randomly hear "Hey Cloud, you figured out how to use the three seashells yet?" mid battle. 🤣

The people who complained about Tifas bust size are so incredibly cringe and weird. This is not the Ps1 version, the characters have much more realistic proportions, and even with those realistic proportions she is still by far the bustiest character in the game besides Scarlet. Seriously do people not have better things to care about than the fact that Tifa does not have ridiculous anime boobs that bounce all over the place 🤦♂️.

if I remember right the treed mill says it ups agility but you have to keep using it multiple times (keep in mind its been years sense I played the og one)
It's likely two different timelines or worlds, one with Zach and one w/ the main characters. We get to see both worlds, but they don't merge until maybe the final battle.
Crisis Core Reunion is still cannon to FF7 Remake even without an altered ending due to the fact that Zack only survived due to the ending of FF7 Remake which only changed time in that exact instance so the past doesn't change it changes the present but alters exactly 1 person's interpratation of the past

I doubt it because he wasn't a crucial developer in the OG FF7, he had a role of distant advisor, the main name behind FF7 was and still is Kitase

What do you mean that the Whispers of Fate are a reason for things playing differently? If anything they are the ones trying to keep everything as it is in the og and Sephiroth's ultimate goal is to break free from their influence. And that's what the player does in the end. You can say that the whole thing is a meta joke about breaking free from the purists that demand that everything is kept as it was in the og game.

I had a theory that Zack may play apart in the ancient city if the game keeps there story's on different tracks only to meet at the moment holy would be activated... if I remember right Aerith had to dead for holy to work... So maybe now holy is possible weaker or even less useful in the remake timeline if she dose not pass away. Then again wean the black materia is used it could force the group to re cast holy after defeating some Weapons that may have always to help increase the spells power... Anyway part two to the remake looks like it's going to be a game changer

It’s going to be called reunion. All the clones are merging and it will probably be at the point of game where you gotta track everyone down and reform the party for the final stages of the game. It’s a good place to start the third disc. My 2 cents

Square-Enix didn't want new voices. Square-Enix NA wanted new voices. The Japanese cast returned to voice all their characters. I like the new voices, but we have to call a spade a spade. Some creative director somewhere in the company made a head strong decision to satisfy themselves, not fans.

A little bit of research goes a long way in regards to the turn based combat. That was ALWAYS the plan, from OG on, but they just didn't have the technological advances to be able to implement it at that time. They only added turn based as an option for hardcore OG fans who would riot about the antiquated system of TBC so they could enjoy it in that manner if they wanted to. I personally LOVE both systems but I enjoy real time combat much more which started with XV. I was ecstatic to experience XV's combat and loved every second of it, and even more thrilled to know that my favorite FF was getting the same system. Also, SING?! TSENG'S NAME IS PRONOUNCED LIKE SONG or in other cases SUNG. If you're going to make a video know your god damn shit before you talk about the subject.
The third game should have been called Reunion, imo. Disappointed that they used it for Crisis Core (which was meh and not needed, imo)

I have a grandiose suspicion that they'll 100% make "Aerith" live in FF7R part 3, or somehow give you a choice between a few who lives and/or dies via certain events

Crisis Core's ending made me so depressed I never played it again.
I never finished it lol I got a PSP just to play it and I just fell in love with Zack and I knew what was coming and I just couldn't do it. I got all the way to the very end and then never pulled the trigger. Didn't even watch the ending on YT, too sad. 😭
