Hi Yogi, a belated thank you for for kind comments. Just to let you know that I am on a new adventure walking the full distance ( 127 miles) of the Leeds and Liverpool canal. I am almost halfway through the walk. I am sure you will find it interesting. It is more down to earth meetings with lots of people I meet on the way. Kind Regards Jim. Please check out my site, click playlist and find 'walking the Leeds & Liverpool canal. Kind Regards, Jim
Just found your videos. Love them! My preference would be no music but to hear the sound of the boat, nature and water. Thank you for you sharing your experience.
Hi Revonda, I see that you watched this episode over a year ago. Just to let you know that Harry is still alive and kicking and still driving his car at 97 years old. Trish had to under go a brain tumour operation, and is recovering well. Just to let you know that I have a whole new series of adventure videos available to watch. If you have a look at Jim's Coastal Path Walk around the UK, you will see that I have recently completed a 3,700 miles coastal path walk around England and Wales, and that I am now in Scotland having started a 1,300 miles around the coastal path of Scotland. You might find it interesting. Kind Regards, Jim
Can’t believe 5 people have given this a thumbs down. Some folk have nothing better to do than be miserable, negative and ungrateful. I really enjoying this and the first video. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Hi Simon, thanks for your kind words. I totally agree with your thoughts. 18,000 people have watched this, and I have had a handful of thumbs down, and hundreds and hundreds of thumbs up. I can't please everybody, and for I can't please, I am not really worried. I am only an amateur. Kind Regards to you Simon.
Bunch of Philistines, who go around roaming on You Tube, looking for educative & informative videos to hate. I actually like narrow boats and it's videos like the above that give me motivation to take a canal boat holiday and learn about certain canal boat living nuances from the perspective of normal everyday people.
We're doing the Lancaster Canal next month (rookies on a narrowboat) - no locks 😉. Also ordered some walkie-talkies to take with us so we can communicate when mooring up etc. Well done Harry! Hope we do as well as you. ☺
Thanks for posting the videos. My wife and I are planning a narrowboat trip at the end of this September, and it's great to get tips and see what the weather is like at that time of year. I hope that the family is doing well!
HI Mark, thank you for you kind words. I am pleased that you enjoyed you may have learned from our experience. Please subscribe to my channel, there are other interesting adventures of Trish and I that may interest you. It is free subscriptin
Great videos guys. Love this series. We were livaboards for five years, sold and terribly regret it. We are now buying a wide beam boat and will be based on the Bridgewater Canal. Will keep watching these videos to 'capture the spirit ' until it's built later this year. You look a lovely family too. Lewis and Paul

Hello Colin, Thank you for your kind words. Delighted it gave you so much pleasure. You may be interested to know that I am on a solo adventure walking 5,000 miles around the coast path of the UK. I have already walked 4,300 miles but the Covid -19 caused me to postpone the west and north coasts of Scotland until 2021. However instead I had decided to walk from Leeds to Liverpool along the tow path of the L & L canal and include it in the Jim's Coast Path Walk around the UK vlog. The walk will start at the end of July. Kind Regards to you and thanks for watching. May I respectfully ask if you would subscribe please. Thank You, Jim
You are most welcome. Thank you for your kind thoughts. I am now on a new adventure. Please check out my vlog on Jim's Coastal Path Walk around the UK on facebook or CZcams. Kind Regards to You
Hi John, thanks for your lovely sentiments. Harry is a true star. Many people have made similar comments too. We had a great time .Kind Regards to you. Jim
A great vlog. However, whilst I loved the music I would prefer to hear the natural ambient sounds of engine, water and wild life. and of course the comments when things don’t go according to plans 😃
HI mike, yes I agree the music was a bit too much at times. I don''t know if you amplify the music through a decent hi fi system, but it will sound much more balanced with everything else. I do appreciate your comments, but this film was made just as a holiday film, mainly for the grand kids. I am not a professional, I do it for fun and a great way of capturing family memories

Great videos and really interesting to watch but on a safety note, there were times when the lady (with no life jacket on) was stood on the gunwale whilst the boat was moving and also in one part was on the gunwale when mooring up. One slip between the boat and bank and I'm sorry there's only going to be one winner with 20 ton of steel.
Enjoying this BUT......... you seem to be on a time limit.........Unless you are carrying cargo and on a deadline..... STOP thinking about what time you should have arrived and just enjoy the journey........ thanks for the vid :-)
Hi 52memor, yes, you are right. It was a bit regimented in the beginning, but as the week went on we settled down to relaxing more. We learned a lot from our first experience, and I am sure that now we know what to expect and how to drive a boat, that we will run less to a time table should we ever go again. Thanks for your comment. Respect to You , Kind Regards, Jim

Hi Colin and Shamila, Thank you for your kind words. I hope you enjoy the adventure. i would recommend it to anyone with the spirit of adventure and taking in the fact that the canal is over well over 200 years old and beautifully preserved. Kind Regards to you both, Jim
Just one question? Why doesn't these boats have side bumpers? running along the length of both sides? Harry is steadier than most men half his age...GOD BLESS HARRY & Friends!
Talk ‘bout fly on the wall lol. Really down to earth and natural. No bells, whistles or showboating (no pun intended)
