      Hello Lee, Firstly, Thank You for your response to my narrow boat holiday films. Your kind thoughts mean a lot to me. There has been a magnificent response to the whole series, particularly episode 2 when Harry drove the boat into a lock at his very first attempt, even at his age. Incidentally Harry will enjoy his 100th birthday next January. Sadly Trish and I are no longer together. We split up in 2018. She stays in touch with my daughter Sam, and is in good health. I now live in Glossop in Derbyshire in a new relationship. You may be interested to know that I have since made a 267 episode film call the Full Walk. It is around the entire coast of England, Wales and Scotland and shoes a 390 days walk. Also, please send me your contact details as I would love to meet you next August when you on your narrow boat adventure. We are often in Skipton and it would be great to meet You and Yours. Kind Regards, Jim

      Hi Jim
      I’ve just posted on your other video about our trip on the Leeds Liverpool for the week . I don’t know why but i never saw this response! Many apologies mate it would have been great to see you .
      I had a feeling from other videos of yours that you and Trish had split! So surprising!!! From these videos you seemed to get on amazing ! Well done to harry - 100 not out ! What an innings, and after doing all those locks myself I commend the man at 93 for doing them on these videos !

      Hello Poj Rog. Thank for writing to me with such a warm and friendly message. Very kind of you. I am currently in the County of Dumbries & Galloway, Awesome place. May I suggest you find my Jim Hawkins You Tube home page, click playlists and you will find many more adventures filmed over the last 15 yeas, including my 127 miles wak of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal during lock down in 2020,. Hi Jim, many thanks for your reply, and all the very best to Trish and Harry, and of course yourself. I have actually been recently watching the UK Coast walk and only this morning saw the Chichester to Selsey one (Chichester is my home town!) and the one where you met up with Richard Vobes. The films are great, and I will continue to catch-up with your walk. What an experience! Fantastic. Good luck with the remainder of your walk and I look forward to watching more of your videos. Very best of luck, Rog

    Hi, I am working my way through your videos they are a great help as I am looking into doing a short break soon one without locks, just a quick question was that the same Juniper that your friends was on passing you with a different couple on at the 22 minute mark?

    • @jimhawkinswalkstheuk
      @jimhawkinswalkstheuk  Před 4 lety

      Hello Roy, thanks for writing. Yes Juniper was hired by an Australian couple for the first weekend of our holiday for simply just a long week end leaving us early on the Monday morning to return the boat to just south of Skipton. I can recommend the stretch of 17 miles without looks, and not too many swing bridges. The surrounding area is beautiful and alongside the canal there are many good pub, Restaurants, Etc and Skipton is beautiful town. Have a great time. Also Roy I am currently on a 5,000 miles walk around the UK coast path. If you are interested try Jim's Coast Path Walk around the UK on Facebook or CZcams. Kind Regards to You, Jim

    I have enjoyed watching your videos but find the music far too intrusive. The natural sounds, as recorded are, in my view, preferable.
    Thank you for sharing your holiday with us all.

    • @jimhawkinswalkstheuk
      @jimhawkinswalkstheuk  Před 5 lety

      Hi Tim, thank you for writing. I respect your point of view regarding the music and I am sorry that it spoiled your enjoyment. The only thing I can say is that I have watched lots of amateur videos where the constant drone of the engine blocks out any other natural sounds, and I find that irritating, hence the background music. I agree with you to a point, but many people have written to me complimenting the choice of music and have thoroughly enjoyed it. But I can't please everybody, and bearing in mind that this is our holiday, made for us, and my family and grandchildren for a memory of their grandparents in future years, I am happy to share it with you and all the 50,000 people who have watched the whole series of these holiday films on CZcams. I have only had two complaints about the music, and I said the same to the other person. There are lots of other narrow boat videos with no music at all, maybe you would prefer them. It is a matter of opinion, but please appreciate that I am an amateur, not a professional. Kind Regards to you Tim, I hope you enjoy the whole series, days 1 to 7

      Hi Jim,
      thank you for your well considered reply - much appreciated. We all have our own views and it is a good thing that we do not all think the same. My wife and I enjoyed 3 years living on our narrowboat so, in our last years it is good to see how others enjoy the same environment. We miss the sounds and smells of the cut enormously. Your recorded efforts have given us much to enjoy, even if we find the music a little bit intrusive. All the best, and thank you again.
      Regards Tim

      @@timstewartuk Hi Tim , thank you for your reply, and I am delighted to hear from you again and glad that my first reply to you didn't offend you in any way. It is a simple case of agreeing to disagree, or as Brian Clough once said to Don Revie, you can't argue with opinion. However I do understand your point, and perhaps the volume may be too loud in parts.We thoroughly enjoyed our narrow boat holiday. You may be pleased to know the father in law Harry is still doing well and is nearly 95 years old now. I am on a 5,000 miles walk around the UK and currently 10 days from reaching Lands End. Kind Regards to you and your wife. Jim

      @@jimhawkinswalkstheuk Hi Jim, it's good to hear that Harry is still hanging in there. Now crippled with ALS, I get a lot of pleasure from watching various videos, particularly if they are of mutual interest. I was always a keen walker, but all around the UK is something I missed doing. So, do as much as you can while you can. Life is too short, to sit on your hands. It's better to live for one day than exist for a hundred years. I'm sure you would agree. Regards Tim

    I had to mute the cheesy guitar muzak, and therefore heard nothing at all. Strange that the hire company didn't give any training before handing the boat over. Or maybe they did and said "when you want to stop, just ram the boat into the side of the canal and let it bounce off."
