I could listen to you all day!! Such a calm and peaceful vibe. You inspired me years ago to go go the simple route. I love the update. The hair is beautiful!! I really want to crochet mine, to make them thicker like yours, so I appreciate the the caution of them breaking off. Some of them I’ve connected, and it’s taken some years for the to fuse together, so I want them to do it sooner lol. I’m at 5 1/2 years and I too can’t wait for them to hit the small of my back. Y’all won’t be able to tell me nothing!! Lol. Blessings to you!❤
Haha! I hear that! Thank you so much for commenting. I'm so glad you enjoyed the update! Good luck with the crochet. Here's to thick and beautiful locs that flow all the way down to the small of your back! Blessing to you too ❤
I’m in the no-product club too, thanks to you! You are telling the truth about our hair. The time and money and stress we could save if we all just paid attention to what you have discovered. Been watching you from the beginning. 💖
I have restarted my journey multiple times, because the reality of you don't need to do anything to your hair has been so foreign to me. I have been loose natural for decades and I thought I had truly and fully embraced all that is my natural hair. The loc journey has proven that I am but a baby when it comes to this journey. Going to continue pushing myself, because I believe the freedom is worth it. Love seeing your journey ❤
Magnificently Made❤. Thank You for everything, your encouragement is infectious, I finally after 56 years Love My Hair. My goal is waist length healthy locs. Menopause kicking my butt, a bit of thinning on top but I refuse to give up. Best decision I’ve ever made!!!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad to hear that you're loving your hair! I hear you with the menopause. I get hot like fire every 10 minutes! lol Ah well, let's continue to eat properly, exercise and live a good life. Cheers! ❤
You're literally inspo to me rn! I'm 5 months into my loc journey & loving it! It's feels like this is what my hairs been wanting to do all along but I'd been fighting it to appease society. My goal is to leave it minimum 10 years cause I wanna be a natural goddess and be intune with my natural beauty! Thanks for the video!😊✌🏿
Fantastic. You are welcome, sis. I'm so glad to hear that you're inspired by my videos. We were so blinded by society and our own warped perspective of ourselves but thank the god within, we're awake now. word!
I have 4a hair. And i have followed your advice for the entire 3 years of my semi-freeform loc journey. And everything you have said has worked for me. Much love to you sis.❤😍
“My hair makes me so happy I’m excited I have a lot of fun” cheers!! I wish many can say such! One of the best decisions everrrr and thanks for being my inspiration almost 3 1/2 years in the game! The same thing remains simplicity and freedom wins!! Cheers to you gorgeous! Ayeee 🥰😎
Cheers to you too!! You are welcome. I'm glad you found inspiration with my videos. I see your hair style shorts on your channel. They're so cute! All the best to you too!
So glad that I found your channel! I stopped using oils and gels in my locs two years ago thanks to you and there is no way I'll ever go back. The first 3-6 months were just me breaking a lifetime of conditioning beliefs of what my hair needed to thrive. It's amazing how soft, light, and in love I am with my hair now. Thank you, sending nothing but love and health to you and others.
Thanks for the update Ingrid! I’m always in awe of your hair, and always LOVE what you have to say. It’s so true (that the locs are how our hair is supposed to be. It’s just too easy and too beautiful to convince me otherwise). It allows me to focus on other aspects of life, because I feel free.
I work out but I prefer to do deep stretches and light weightlifting so not a lot of sweating. You can wash your locs as often as you need to. Staying away from oil allows for your locs to dry faster. I blow dry mine and they dry in no time.
Oh Ingrid. You always appear just when I need you. I am repeatedly convinced that I need to moisturize and have been spraying my hair with aloe Vera juice and some trace oils. I now find my hair crunchy and dare I say, thinning a bit at the root ( probably from the daily manipulation). I will return to trusting the simplified journey and will nourish my hair from the inside out. Happy 50th my lady. I am finding these middle years the most profound, soul searching and enlightening time of life.
I hear you. Our minds have been conditioned. No oils is ideal for our texture. Thank you for the birthday wishes! Here's to more and more self discovery. Peace to you.
Yes I’m also a 4C Goddess and I freeformed my hair into Locs 3.5 years ago! I agree best decision ever! It’s the easiest hair style! I don’t use products. I water wash, once in a while I’ll do a clarifying wash with dr bronners or black soap. But yes I leave it alone. I’ve been following your journey and so happy you are still loving your hair which is beautiful by the way! Thank you for your knowledge transfer to the collective ❤️❤️
Happy birthday beautiful lady! You look 30! And not a day over. Your hair is absolutely gorgeous!! I’m currently growing out my low cut to begin my loc journey. You are such an inspiration. Blessings!
Looking good! I recently cut 12-20 inches off after 6 yrs of growth. I Needed a change and my locs look sooo much better. Thanks Ingrid for being so inspirational with the healthy hair / AfroLoc care
You’re welcome! I doubt that your towel is breaking your ends. If you’re less than 3 years in then you’re still in the early teenage phase and your locs haven’t really matured yet. They’re still soft. I wouldn’t worry too much about it especially if they’re small. 4c hair is resilient when it’s locd. Give it time and allow it to shed if it needs to. Before you know it they’ll be thick and strong.
I started my locs in 2002 with the help of extensions but long time cut them off and my own hair got down to the lower part of my back. But then during the pandemic I started to crochet extensions to make them even longer…and I wish I didn’t. When I went back to my stylist she told me the extra weight started to thin my roots and I panicked. I told her to cut some of the hair off to lighten it but when I came home I just chop the rest into a bob. Long story short I always wanted thicker locs and two strand twisted them, then I said I’m going to combine them. Two years later my hair grow out and the twisted parts are at the ends…I don’t retwist my locs often. Just a light retwist with flaxseed gel i make every 3 weeks…light oils and that’s it. I’m loving my locs the second time around and enjoying this new journey. I can’t wait till my locs is back to my old length. Love your locs!
Wonderful! What a journey you've had. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I remember I did crochet loc extensions many years ago too. It totally thins your hair out. I would never recommend it. You live and you learn. All the best and enjoy your second time around!
Hey Queen! I love love love your channel and the wisdom you give when it comes to locs. I myself have wicks and I use no products. This is the BEST decision I have made when it comes to locs. I wash and band them, no twisting. I just let them do what they do. This is the hair that I have always wanted but didn’t know I could achieve. I hated being a loose natural because of all the effort and products but locing my hair has been phenomenal and I am so enjoying the journey. Thank you so much for your wisdom! Do you oil your scalp?
No I never ever oil my scalp or my locs. It’s unnecessary. Only loose natural hair needs a lubricant so you can comb through it.
Anyone else experience breaking ends? Its happening systematically more and more, my locs get thin towards the ends, and risk breakage. None have broken yet, but im concerned. I wrap my hair at night, so have no idea whats causing it.
The ends of your locs will weaken and eventually break off if you use tight rubber bands at the ends (if you do braids).
