1:00:00 im pretty sure you need to unlock liquid fueled engines to get further rocket missions. You lucked into this eventually.
Progression is a _real_ problem in career mode. Some other gotchas:
    * Solar panels are in the rover tech tree. You need to unlock these fairly soon after achieving orbit or progression stops. You don't need them -- the battery in the command pod is sufficient for all missions in the Drool system -- but it is required nevertheless.
    * You need to prioritize unlocking the (apparently) useless GATT Charts tech. This unlocks the proper map view. The next tech in the same line unlocks maneuver nodes. In addition to simply being useful, it is required for progression.
    * You need to complete a mission whose objective is "Achieve orbit in " to unlock the first new launch site. This only unlocks the pad -- if you want the adjacent runways, you need to complete a different mission.

Well given KSP 2 was recently killed, we could certainly use some alternatives.

Thank you Quill. You fixed one of my gripes about this game. The x2 physics warp was too slow. I never thought to go looking for a setting to increase it. Duh! I really enjoy the building and flying mechanics, a serious improvement over KSP I think, but it is missing so much of what makes KSP good. There is no sense of place. For example, you don't build in a VAB, you're in a endless void on a blue hexagon? Also, I miss the science, comm relay networks, and isru stuff from KSP. Basically a reason to build and send things somewhere. Juno is just a little too plain sandbox and could use some pizzazz and a sense of discovery... Still a good game though!

It miss lot of the flair of KSP 2, and is less polished but I was hooked the first time I had to design engines procedurally.
Vanilla I think is a better game, but with mods KSP1 is probably better

I was on the fence about getting Juno, thinking "Do I need it if I got KSP?". At around 1:40:00, I think I've made up my mind. When there's actual rocket science to do, but you could just go the Kerbal route and wing it through experiments, I'm all in.
It's fun sometimes to check things like the air pressure to exit pressure ratio, and to have fine tuned control over thrust. This is the kind of stuff I wish KSP had borrowed from Children of a Dead Earth, and now it seems Juno is that middle ground.
I'm not saying Juno is better than KSP, both have their ups and downs. It will probably take a while before I could get away from the KSP mods that allow programming and stuff, because I really like making old-school Apollo mission style programming too.

The game is out of early access from more then a year. It is still updated with new things to do but I will consider it feature complete at this point.
It's better then KSP 1 with mods? Probably not. But it may be a valid alternative, but I never got past a moon mission in this game (about 25h of play) so it may be boring later.

instead of forcing turn 45 degree while fighting the atmospheric drag,
the moment you reach 100m/s speed, turn 5 to 15 degree only (so basically 80 degree +/-5, test it out),
and not 45, and then just unlock stability control (or lock it to prograde),
and let itself naturally by on its own, it is called gravity turn... it's the most efficient to get most out of the deltaV
it works in KSP, I always launch like that to orbit, I never played Juno, it should work here too if physics is correct

  • @Cruz0e
    @Cruz0e Před 21 dnem

After so many different rockets, hundreds of launch videos, etc...
Saturn, Soyuz, Apollo, Atlas, Falcon 9/heavy, Starship
(do you see wings on any of them? no, unless like Starship, returns, but it can fold it wings away for a reason)
People still put fins! on space rockets , Crazy
Also, after first 20 hours in KSP you learn it fins are for planes, not rockets... or for rockets that stay in atmosphere and want to go straight (like warhead rockets), it's not for rocket that is going upwards, trying to get out from the atmosphere
especially on 2nd stage is stupid to put fins
Just use RCS or reaction wheel... and don't turn too hard,
fins are just drag in atmosphere, and they will just "stabilize"? no, its not stabilization that they just block you from turning slowly
Imagine if you had "wings" on your legs, when do a head jump to underwater , does it help? not really
you don't need it to stay stable, just don't try to turn too hard don't put your hands sideways... put them straight out and do slight adjustments if you want to turn
beginners put fins on rockets, because they don't know how to turn, and it becomes a bad habit...
like you were always using a chair back to be able to sit up straight
