- WHY YOU SHOULD BE WASHING/SOAKING YOUR SYNTHETIC BRAIDING HAIR IN APPLE CIDER VINEGAR 🤭✍🏼🤔 ✔️
If you are like me and wear ALOT of different protective styles with added hair extensions, then im sure you guys will relate with what i share in this video!👀 ✂️
I have a very sensitive scalp so many times once i get my braids installed i start to ITCH, get small red bumps which made me realize that i might be allergic to it💡 but i found out that some braiding hair/extensions is coated with something called ALKALINE which can be very dangerous for our hair & Health to be honest!☠️
A solution that has been working amazing for me is called THE APPLE CIDER VINEGAR RINCE METHOD which helps lift some of the Alkaline coating, chemicals and even BACTERIA from the synthetic braiding hair which has stopped me from itching and getting bumps.
If you have ever worn a braided hairstyle and have suffered with the same symptoms i have maybe give this method a try an let me know if it works for you?
HOW TO DO THIS METHOD:
Step1️⃣
Fill bowl with warm/hot (not boiling hot) water and add some apple cider Vinegar
Step 2️⃣
Without separating the hair, add it to the mixture and wait around 30 mins - 1 hour (the choice is yours) but after a few mins you shoukd start to see the alkaline base lifting from the hair, forming a white film on top of the water!
Step3️⃣
Gently wash rinse hair out with cool water & then add a shampoo to wash the hair with
Step 4️⃣
Once you have rinsed out the shampoo you can the gently massage the conditioner into the hair and leave it to soak for 30 mins then wash it out, let it air dry and your done!!!👏🏼🙌🏼😊 It seems like a long process but i think it worth it especially as this will benefit with my hair and skin!

That looks absolutely disgusting! I had no idea all that was on my hair before but never again will I use braiding hair without washing it first with acv! No wonder it itched like all hell 😳
Yes its quite scary haha!
Yes please try this method before using the braiding hair and see how your scalp and hair react to it! xxxx
I feel that! I want to protective style my hair and my hair ALWAYS itches but I have to put it away and I can’t wear scarves to my job so I’m about to do this rinse for the first time!! I didn’t know for a long time that why my hair would itch really bad whenever it got braided.
I’m almost 45 and have only just learned about this. Thankfully, I’ve never had any bad reactions, but I will be washing my braiding hair from now on!
Right!!!! Omg
@@braidsgang2896 Hello. can I also wash my braids while they 're already on my head?
Ugh these companies are in sane. Its like they really dont care about hurting their customers as long as they make money. There has to be alternatives to this.
I did this but I used vo5 shampoo and I have to say my braiding hair feels amazing and they smell great. I couldn’t believe the chemicals and dirt that came off of the hair. Thank you for the tip ✨🌹
Wow we are soo happy to hear you like this method!
Yes when you see the dirt & some of the chemicals coming off the braiding hair can be quite alarming!
You are soo welcome x
How long did you let the hair soak?
@@missycoulter7362 I let it soak for about 30 minutes, washed, and repeated the process and let it air dry. It doesn’t take long to see the dirt to come out. Hope this helps✨
@@danneighheart1890 thank you so much!! I plan on doing that to my braiding hair today before I add it in my head
✨🌹✨
I'm trying this now! My last box braids itched sooooo bad I can't let that happen again! Thanks for the tips sis!
Yas!! We are soo happy to hear you were able to get some tips for the next time you decide to do your braids!
Same here. The itching was torcher!!
Same here! I always got box braids in the summer except last year! The summer before last (2022) & my scalp was on fire! I was afraid to get them again, but I think I’m gonna try this method & get them back again this summer ☺️
Everyone is saying their hair was itchy, but I got a bad headache and neck aches. These chemicals are so bad. My doctor couldn't figure it out but once I took the braids out I began to feel better.
She spent about a day prepping this hair an I’m not mad, I’m starting tonight!🙋🏾♀️
Yaaaas!!! How did it go!? x
I absolutely agree I’m not mad at all about this. This was so smart and will be what I do EVERY time for now on.
I'm starting tonight so it can be ready for braiding this weekend
I bought hair from Unclouded. No need for all of this. I needed 8 packs of hair there is no way I was soaking 8 packs!
@@cfoster6804 do you, Sis. Just be sure to listen to your hair/scalp, if it starts to itch repeatedly or small bumps form, remove it immediately.
i haven’t even finished braiding my hair and i’m already taking it out because it itches so bad. I have scalp psoriasis and it never dawned on me i might be allergic to the chemical on the hair, definitely doing this next time
How did it go???
Braiding hair doesn’t bother me at all. But seeing all those chemicals float to the top I’m still putting that in my head So I’m going to start doing this step before I insert my braids in and also offer this step for my clients as well.
I started this technique about 2 years ago! And I couldn’t believe the difference it makes! I condition mine with coconut oil after then let them air dry comb them out as well . It’s worth the day before to install. I even feel like the hair is softer when braiding
I kept seeing ppl say washing braiding hair lessens the itch I know in the past when my mom or a "braider" did my hair they wouldn't and my head would itch but I thought it just came with having braids. And back then there was a lack of knowledge for how to care properly for blk hair so if there is a better way I will try it. I plan on braiding my own hair this weekend.
In the past I used to do an ACV rinse on my scalp within a few days of being braided to relieve the itching/inflammation. I have an appointment for Fulani braids in the morning - after watching this I’m gonna postpone it to the next day, I’ll buy the hair and do the pre-soak. I feel sorry for ladies who are unaware of this method. 🙏🏿
Smart! I’m going to do this and the next wash day I will use acv to cleanse my scalp, remove any buildup from products and try to get rid of any remaining chemicals
Feel sorry for me I have scalp sores and mad insane itching it was my husband that said you sure it's not the hair then I found this thank you thank you 🙏
Same! It would prematurely frizz up my braids a bit too. Hated having to do that and I’m so glad I found this method.
This makes so much sense! Here I was thinking I had an allergy to the hair because I'd be itching my scalp off all the while it was the chemicals. Takes time but after watching all that come off I'm definitely deep cleaning any hair before it's installed.
So this also wash away the Chemical that cause cancer
Definitely made a world of difference!! I didnt have that first week pain or it itching! Doing it again as we speak❤❤
Ah this is wonderful news!! We are glad to know this method is working for soo many people!! xx
Thanks to you I have never itched again. Almost forgot to do this to my crochet braids today. Doing it right now :-: not much time but something is before than nothing
I started doing my jumbo knotless at home when I don’t feel like going to the salon! I’m doing this on my next braids because when I say my hair itches so much ! It’s insane ! I’m sure it has to do with the chemicals in this braiding hair because who really thinks to wash their braiding hair! You are gold ❤
Oh my goodness no wonder why my hair itches up a storm after I install braids. You just saved me sleepless nights.I’m installing braids tomorrow but, I’m doing this first.
I stopped getting braids 2 years ago because my skin would just go crazy whenever I got braids and I mean rashes/tiny bumps all over my face😭 wow this makes so much sense. I want to get braids so bad but I’m still traumatized to even try this 😭🥺
Make one test braid first haha
Not sure if you’ve gotten braids again yet, but this method does help so much! I do this after getting my hair braided. I ACV and water in a spray bottle and spray it all over my hair and scalp then leave it on for 15mins and rinse it/wash it like normal. Helps so much!
I completely understand. This is on our weave hair too! My scalp would get inflamed and my face would itch. I do it to all types of hair, just not crochet. It made me so paranoid, I literally soak my stuff 2-3 times before my installs. ACV works! just make sure its the one with the mother in it.
@@queendeshanira6096 haven’t gotten braids again but Thankyou! I will definitely try this method the next time I’m ready to take a risk 😂
@@moonbootss5559 will do! Thankyou
I had to take my hair out after work yesterday because I've been suffering with allergic reactions to the braids I self-installed. I came home a few days from the British museum and branched to the hair shop because I couldn't take it anymore. I finally have time to do the rinse now so, thanks for this video. It's absolutely confusing that it hasn't always happened but it's definitely depends on the batch one gets because I use Xpressions also and the last time I did my hair at the hairdressers, I didn't have a reaction as horrible as I have now. I'm never taking the chance of not soaking my hair ever again. Thanks again sweet 🤎🙏🏽
Yes yes yes!! I definitely have to do this process. I was completely miserable the first time I got braids because I had no idea I was allergic to this chemical. Please make sure you use Real Apple Cider vinegar, not the White Vinegar. I’ve made that mistake as well. Braids are so expensive so prep your hair ladies. That white film comes up immediately upon soaking the hair. Insane!!
What would be the outcome if you use white vinegar?
@@sparkzflyydrea9484 I’ve used white vinegar and it works just fine for me. I let it soak for 4-5 hours if I don’t have time. Ideally, you’ll want to soak it for 8-10 hours.
White vinegar also works.
Try using the shampoo and conditioner together to save time.😌
Yes Great tip! x
It's not logic. I think you can mix shampoo with ACV. But conditioner with shampoo cancel each effectiveness, since shampoo is supposed to take something out of you hair and conditioner is supposed to coat your hair with something. I don't know if you understand my message..
@@e_the_real Yeah, the mix works great on my hair. Been doing that for years. Thanks for your advice.
@@e_the_real What she is doing is basically making a conditioning shampoo. There are 2in1 shampoos/conditioners on the market.
I'm definitely trying this today! I get the same issues and nothing I've used to soothe my scalp after the hair is already in has helped, so this makes so much sense. Thank you!!
Did it work?
Me too
I usually leave my braids in for 3 weeks. But going to try this tonight
I never had issues with my hair itching when getting braids, but I can recall this one time where my scalp was so itchy! I just got Senegalese twist & boy were they gorgeous! The next day after the install my head was itching up a storm😬 So I wash it & grease it, thinking it’s just dry scalp. NOPE! My scalp was having an allergic reaction from the chemical “alkaline lye”. I spent $200; just to wear my braids for only 3 weeks!
Going to get my hair braided tomorrow & reach out to my stylist asking if she has human hair on hand. She stated the human hair is to soft & she prefer synthetic 🙄. Once my hair is completed I’m going home to soak head in ACV, then wash my scalp with the Acv & aloe vera plant, then oil scalp with Jamaican castor oil.
Send her this video next time or bring your own hair(:
What is Acv?
Wow! I never pre washed my hair......I will now....Yuck! Thank you.......I cannot sleep at night for at least 1 week after I do my hair it itches soooo bad...My poor husband is like "Just cut it all out and go natural" Poor thing he never gets sleep the 1st week after I do my hair! He will now!
This is me rn, it’s so itchy
Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I was wondering why my scalp was so irritated when I got braids in. I was so miserable! I will be definitely taking these tips! Be blessed🙌🏽
Thank you, 😊 n the past I could only wear braids for 1-2 weeks. The itching was unbearable. Now I purchase & pretreat the hair before getting it braided. You are a life saver!
I had to take down my $300 braid style within 3-days of getting it done due to excessive itching. Doing your suggestion now to prepare for my next braided hair style thank you.
Wow. That film is probably all of the things they add to the hair to make it less flammable. Thanks for the video
I was all ready to prep my braiding hair with just vinegar but I'm so glad I ran across your vid. Your process is hella thorough and I'm here for it! Thanks for sharing!
Had to watch this as a refresher after years of going without extensions… time for a switch up and here I go!!
After installing crochet hair, my scalp have been itching, I started searching if I can wash it before installing and saw this video. Thanks for this video
My scalp used to breakout and I would have scabs all over my head with any braiding hair , crochet hair anything ! Once I soaked my hair in acc and washed I never had anymore issues
Thankyou so much, I am getting ready to go on a three week vacation and decided to get braids, my daughter just send me your video... TnkU so much, well appreciated 👏
Thanks for the video. Soaked and shampooed the braiding hair before install and first time I didn’t have itching after braiding completed.
Thank you.. every time I braid my hair and it touches my face I get bad break outs. Now I know why... now I can prep my braiding hair and be cute without the pimples 🙂 ☺
I love your accent. Great tips 👍
Aww thank you soo much! xx
Thanks so much. I just bought the Gyal hair which has been ACV soaked but it was expensive. After this video I’ll do the soak myself this will save me so much money
My hair itches so much when do braids or locs, they only last 2 weeks!! Now I know why!! Thank you! I will never do my hair again without washing the extensions!
You are so welcome!
Who else watching with fresh, itchy box braids? 😩
Me 🙋🏽♀️😅
You can spray acv on your braids, and rinse it out! That’s what I had to do lol
haha Thank you for watching! xx
I am thankful for the comments. I thought something was wrong with me bc my hair starting itching within 4 days of getting braided.
I had to learn this the hard way last summer. I had gotten knot less braids and had a bad reaction to the chemical and didn't even know what it was until after I took them out and had another style put in. So yes definitely wash your hair because this stuff is not good for our hair.
😮😮😮Omg 😱 thanks God I came across your channel. No wonder my hair and scalp was inching like hell.
I'm not sure where I learned this from, but I have been doing this for years! If my braider prefers a particular brand of hair I will go by and get it from her so that I can prep it myself. I tell everyone about this.
I can count on one hand about how many times I’ve had my hair braided but this most recent time I got passion twists and my scalp was on fire. Like no matter how much I scratched, patted, beat….NOTHING would stop the itching. I didn’t even keep them in 2 full weeks cause they were already coming out. About a week went by and it was wraps. Definitely doing this for my hair appointment in a few days.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. THIS AS HELPED SO MUCH. NO MORE ITCHING IN MY FAMILIES HEAD. GREAT HELP. AND THE ADDITION OF USING THE CONDITIONER IS AS A GREAT IDEA.
Thank you for watching our video & we are soo happy this video helped you and your family! xx
I just got my hair braided😰l didn't even know omg l want take my box braids out.... even tho they look nice❗
Same!😰
Awww not to worry!
We have seen some videos on youtube where people have used the apple cider vinegar rinse whilst wearing braids..We have never tried this method but when we try it we will post it with our honest thoughts xx
I'm late to this comment, but next time (if you don't get a chance to wash the hair beforehand) do and ACV scalp rinse when you wash your hair.
I have spent so much money on braids due to the unbearable itching. I wasn't able to last more than 3 days before removing them
I am now soaking my braiding hair in Apple cider vinegar right now. Thank you!!
Girl you have a life saver, i repeat you saved me!
Glad I came across this video because I was always able to wear braids no problem but recently every time I do wear them my head itches like no tomorrow imma try this method and see fingers crossed
Wish i knew this before my last set of braids . I dug holes in my head because it was murderously itchy
thanks for this video!!!
So i watched this video like a long time ago, and today i decided to go for it and currently waiting for it to dry.... it's not as bad as i thought it would be to be honest. i left it in the water to soak for 20 min and when i came back it was exactly the same.... I did not have any conditioner that was cheap enough to use for this so i used a fabric softer with a rice water rinse … it works so much better.... i think maybe in the future not a expired fabric softer tho .... lol not to self hahahaha
Great, thanks for this
I do this to ❤️. I got my hair braided before and my whole scalp broke out into flakes, it was itchy I oiled it, washed and conditioned my braids, tried a acv root rinse and nothing work. my skin broke out into hives. I washed my braiding hair today, the film was nasty. I’m currently getting ready to rinse the shampoo out
I had a allergic reaction, it felt like my scalp was in fire 🔥 now I’m trying to get my scalp back to normal
I don’t make sense I tried the acv rinse with the fake hair and it still didn’t work ?
Oh gosh sorry to hear you went through this but sadly this is the reality of many of us that wear protective styles using synthetic hair. I hope this method helps you whilst wearing your braids xx
Same I broke out in hives 😭
I very much appreciated the video. Thank you.
I watched this video just in time, I’m going to be doing Marley twist in my hair this weekend and I’ll definitely wash the hair before using it
My hair doesn't itch after braids but i do get alot of flakes on my scalp... that's probably coming from whatever chemicals is on the hair already... definitely completing this step before installing next time
Such a good video. Your explanation is excellent and much appreciated!
FYI ladies, if you use cold water it won't work. Warm water (NOT HOT) is what activates the vinegar.
THANK YOU FOR THIS INFORMATION!!! I often wondered if it should be cold or hot water because a lot of times I still have a reaction after soaking the crochet braids !!! Great tip 😁
Thank you for sharing! So happy to have this info. I will do this from now on, too.
Just a quick question for the air drying step, do I just lay the hair on a towel and let it air dry overnight or does it take longer ?
Put the hair on hangers and hang it up in your bathroom to dry.
No i have lulutress hair in now and i don't soak it first and then i started seeing black dye on my pillow. I soaked the hair 3 times and the water was blank
I used to let my African goddesses braid my hair so whatever they used, it never itched. The one time I decided to buy a pack for highlights bc they didn’t have the shade I wanted, 2 weeks in, I got an abscess on the back of my neck. It grew behind my left ear under the braid so I couldn’t take it out. It was the size of a grape from Costco. Talk about some painful shit 😩I never knew you could wash the hair before using it & damn sure never thought it was chemicals in the hair bc I have super sensitive skin 🤦🏽♀️
From Costco😵
My Hunan hair wigs made me sick, dizzy and breathing issues. I'm using this with the bentonite clay mixed with ACV and hope this helps remove chemicals out of my hair.
Hey I have the same issue with braid hair. Did this help you?
@@bessettebland2513 unfortunately it didn't. I had to get rid of the wig due to the chemical smell. It kept getting me sick.
I'm doing this right now with some bundles as last time my scalp was itchy and scratchy and sore, I had to take out the braid's from my hair in less than a week 🤔😲 but hopefully this will do the trick 👍🏽
The crotchet hair I got from Amazon not only itched but it burned I had to take it out ...but I'm going to try this
I’m thankful for this video. Thank you for sharing I will definitely be trying this this week.
Thank you for your comment, we are so glad this tutorial helped you!
Yaas we hope this method works well for you! xx
Thx so much! I'm buying my hair today & doing this for a Saturday appt! 💯
Those bundles seems like great quality.
I am definitely going to try this method, and I don't think she spent an entire day prepping the hair. She soaked the hair in vinger for three hours, rinsed it out, shampoo ed the hair, rinse, and lastly, she used conditioner. While it took about five hours tops!
There’s another video on YTB where the doctor says the fibers themselves are toxic!! That’s why the soaking may not work for some.
Thank you for posting this. I will be doing this for sure
Thank you so much for sharing, this is my first time using synthetic braiding hair. God Bless
Thanks for sharing! I purchased hypoallergenic hair for braiding. I'm going to go to the braiding hair salon and have a professional install. I have sensitivity too, I hope I have the right type of hair for my head.
Saw this on TikTok and decided to research more about it on CZcams, im so glad i came accross this thank you sp much!! Did it ease the pain when sleeping or is just for itchiness and red bumps on scalp?
We are soo happy you found our tutorial on how to rinse your braiding hair with ACV helpful!
Our founder (in the video) said that it helped with the itching, red bumps, sensitive scalp etc. xxxx
Will be trying this. Thank you for the tutorial!
WOW!!! Has anyone done this on the crochet hair with various curl patterns, etc?? If so, did the pattern stay afterwards?? I want to get some boho crochet braids done soon and need to know if this process would ruin the curl patterns 1st so I don’t waste my money.
Amazing voice and video!! Thank you :)!!
Didn’t know this 🤦🏽♀️.... Thank you
You are soo welcome x
I’m doing this right now I’m getting my hair braided tomorrow!! :)
Thanks! You are very detailed. Love it!
You are very welcome! x
This was right on point👌🏽 Thank you so much❤
You are so welcome xx
how long does it take for the hair to thoroughly dry after soaking the hair?
We would suggest 24 hours but it can take less time x
I wish i knew this when i use to wear a weave the chemicals would leve my scalp so irritated and itchy after two days of it being done.
I love your accent
I soak 3 times sometimes more until I don’t see anymore chemicals coming off of it. (some have more chemicals on it than others )
i started getting such bad reactions to my braids i literally scratched so much that i caused scabs in my head and i barely had my hair 2weeks and had to take them out because i was miserable
I tired this but didn’t work
Got my braids and still itchy after all this washing didn’t work for me
I've been doing this for about 6 years now for future people watching this please do it I've only ever been lazy once and regret it the hell out
Every time I get braids my scalp completely dries out compared to when I’m natural so I wonder if it could be due to this 🤔
Girl same here!! All of a sudden my hair is dry, itchy and flaky!!
@@Slimrose8 yessss I feel you
Doing this now before I even finished watching your video
Love your accent hun. ♥️♥️♥️ Thanks for sharing.😊 Is the wata warm or cool?
I love this! So you'd wash the hair before you stretch and cut it right?
If I wash my hair in Apple cider vinegar and warm water and a film doesn't form does that mean that I'm doing something wrong or those chemicals weren't added to the hair? 🤔 It's not been long but I thought within a couple minutes a form should already start forming
U didn’t put enough acv
I put tons of acv and this happened to me, I tried everything and nothing came out.. I will attempt it with a different brand of hair then :/
Same, i put one liter acv and left it more than 30 minutes in the sink, and nothing happened
It means there wasn't or that much chemicals in so water hair your're using continue using that brand. They sell antibacterial braiding hair
Wait 2 hrs.
And it depends on the brand. She should've showed the brand of hair, each company is different
Thanks sis
It your wig hair gets rough dip it in a bowl of warm water mixed with fabric softener. It will feel like butter, like new again and smell amazing. Thank me later.
I am deffo doing that
yas please do & let us know how you get on, using this method! xxx
Thank you! When do you wash it ? Can you use hair same day you washed it? How can I use the same day?
I feel like you could sub the shampoo for fabric softener
How did u dry it
Wow I definitely need to do this , do the hair get back soft after the whole process ?
Does this affect the hot water seal at all?
