  • Whether you're building a beat or testing out new creative ideas, staying in the creative flow is crucial. With loop recording in Studio One, you can easily add layers without falling out of the moment.
In this tutorial, Joe Gilder demonstrates how you can easily use Studio One as a looper to quickly get your ideas into the DAW.

This is very improvisational. But, a reimagined “show” view that mimics Ableton’s session view would be incredible for Studio One. This being integrated directly into the song page would make it so that one’s creativity is never interrupted, but rather only further supplemented. Studio One being the “only DAW that does it all’ is a strong stance; but, the production side could really use some love and attention. A formal “looping” system implementation would be a big step in that direction.

Only DAW that does it all? To me, they’re all the same (plus or minus some small stuff, like Logic working on the iPad or Studio One having lyrics tracks), what do you mean by „the only“?

I am not a looper other than listening to a number of bars over and over as I compose, but having seen this I realise it is a neat method for quickly trying beat ideas in the moment. Thanks mate for the video.

Thanks for highlighting this feature Joe. Also on the long list of people wanting to figure out a Live-style session workflow. Would love to see a follow-up macro-focused video on how you could set it up to duplicate the track, enable record and move the playback back to start without having to enable all the settings to do so...thinking how Jacob Collier layers very quickly!

I don't know drums at all, but you're the first person that explained things in a way that makes sense. And I love the looping without having to stop and record another track! Thanks so much for showing me this!

This is a creative work around. U could even program a footswitch to be the up and down arrow. Pretty cool. I really wish Studio One could make a clip launcher section for looping. Im curious why there isnt that feature in Studio One yet? Does it have to do with a patent or copyright Ableton has? Thinking about it a little more Bitwig uses that feature too, so i would imagine Presonus could add it to Studio One if they wanted. If u guys ever add that feature to Studio One it would be perfect

tą funkcję ma wiele programów DAW oprócz Abletona. Na przykład Garage Band na IPada. Ma ją również wordtation Roland Fantom... Byłoby miło gdyby to działało w pełni w StudioOne np. w sekcji SCENA Live

Doing this with the arranger is the closest I've gotten to how I sketch out ideas in Ableton or ideas view with maschine. Using melodyne to extract the midi and loading it in to vsts and sometime layering.

Thanks Joe, another awesome and helpful video!
Any chance you could mention the keyboard shortcuts you're using as you go? You mentioned some of the shortcuts, but not all. For some newcomers to S1 who dip into these videos, it's not obvious how you are navigating so quickly, e.g. when you added a bunch more tracks half way through the video, how you were switching record on/off as you moved up and down the tracks, how you switched into arranger view, even how you zoomed in and out etc.
Or perhaps this could be added as a comment to the video, as a handy recap summary of the shortcut keys / techniques used in the video?

I was really hoping there was a setting or something that prevented audio recordings from being automatically overwritten when the play marker loops back around regardless of what recording settings seem to be selected.
I wanted to produce a barber shop quartet sounding chord of four vocal notes in real time without stopping:/

i don't know where can i submit a question regarding "mixdown export" . I have an issue where exported mix sounds quite different in many fields , such as sound more "reverbish" than inside the DAW , or some tracks/midi-s sound louder or quieter and less (clean) than inside the DAW etc etc. I am exporting it as WAV and i tried both 16bit and 32float with 44.1kHz , tried using realtime processing but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions? PS: using only presonus plugins

Give us the ability to control the channel splitter controls via midi, specifically the mutes for each split. Also, why cant the show page features like patches or the ability to switch whole presets on a timeline in the song page? Can we also have the ability to live switch channel presets (program changes) via midi while recording live in the song page? Studio One is so close to being an entire ecosystem for live creative recording but you hamper us with these limitations that dont make sense.

If you sent those tracks to Melodyne, you'd then be able to move them to an instrument track and then choose your favourite synths instead of your voice

  • @navaga6701
    @navaga6701 Před 6 měsíci +4

ok, I watched the whole video. so you just loop the track and create a bunch of tracks. this does not allow you to sort them, experiment with combinations and different lengths, or conveniently use them for further arrangement. It's a shame that you present this as an alternative to clip launcher instead of adding this feature. The request has been around for a long time. but instead, for some reason you created a strange show page. which is not needed by the vast majority of users.
