@@BigWillyStyles13It wasn't really a live session, they were just showing off their new drummer. She was performing but there was backtracking and auto tune used to make it sound like album quality.

Jinjer is absolutely one of the best metal bands on the scene right now, especially live. They sound just as good in person as they do on record, and Tatiana kills the vocals every single time.
No one ever expects Tatiana lol btw the whole song is a play on the dual personality of the pieces zodiac sign. She uses both singing styles to highlight the duality. She has to be one of the most talented vocalists out there. Her range is incredible. Not to mention how good the rest of the band is as well!

We all have two sets of folds in our throat: true vocal folds we speak with and false vocal folds that help keep debris out of our airway. Anyone can learn to engage the false folds at the same time as the true folds and actually use them to speak or sing with. It drops the voice MUCH deeper and gives it a gravel quality. This is how she is accomplishing this.
I think Peter Barber talks about this in a video. The false folds vibrate at half the speed of the true folds, so they phonate an octave lower.
@@sebrinalilje8057, yes, I have seen Peter's video on this. I am a bass singer (my voice is actually much deeper than even Peter's). I actually use false fold growls to get into the negative octaves. I have used subharmonics for a couple years to get into the 0 octave but wanted to go deeper and have studied singers like Tatiana to learn how to go even deeper.
Sounds a lot like fry screams to me tho.
The switching back and forth makes sense especially in this song which is called Pisces. DUALITY: Feminine - Pisces is known as a feminine sign as it is more receptive than assertive in its energy. This is also known as Yin energy (Yang is Masculine). The sign for Pisces are two fish in the same position as the Yin/Yang sign. Tatiana (singer) is a Pisces! Fun reaction! 🤘🔥
She's one of the best growling vocalists....straight up. Jinjer is an awesome band, some of the best music out there.

@@TrevorDunkin Tatiana herself confirmed it's "blaze". And it makes sense, but you should look at these lines not as on one long sentence, but rather treat them as contrasting lines, showing two different "beings", one gentle and another predatory:
Scale armour blaze --
Virgin innocence
One being brings life --
Another runs for death
Then it makes perfect sense, especially when compared with the duality theme appearing throughout the rest of the song.

Tatiana has an unusually large larynx and oversized false chords. She started learning to use them at a fairly young age and had the goal of sounding as heavy as a man. She’s far exceeded that bar.

This was my introduction to Jinjer and let me say, I was just as shocked. You don't have to like that style of music to appreciate the vocal range and skill of her; the drums and guitar backing are incredible but together they truly elevate each other. 10/10, amazing song.

I love this song, Jinjer is fantastic. Her cleans and screams are both awesome, and then there's the belt near the end (about 6:15 in this video)... I've heard this song god knows how many times, the belt still gives me chills every single time!

From the very first time I heard it, I love, Love, LOVE everything about the smooth sections. After watching (literally) countless reactions, the harsh sections have grown on me to the point that I love them almost as much. Their other music is fire, too.
I love Jinjer, they have been my favorite band for 6 years now. I was not into harsh vocals till I heard Tatiana growl.
She made me a believer too.

The opposing sounds in her vocals in this song are particularly fitting due the the topic, and title of the song. Pisces...symbolized by two fish swimming in opposite directions, representing the constant division of Pisces's attention between fantasy and reality. Yin and Yang, dark and light , life and death, everything in relation to its opposite, duality.

When the war in Ukraine started, their home, they all volunteered. They were told to continue touring and support the cause. Should have kept her. She would have won some battles just by scaring the hell out of the enemy. Tatiana is a Pisces. The song is about swimming upstream looking for light and love only to be caught and killed by handsome butchers.

My first exposure to Jinjer was seeing them open for Disturbed... if you think it's shocking seeing her growl on a video, it's way more shocking and impressive in person when you have no idea what to expect.
I saw them headline in a small venue in DC. Would have loved to see them in a huge arena. Jinjer is amazing for real. Can't wait for them to come back.

When you hear Tatiana speak in interviews, she's such a kind hearted soul with a soft voice. It makes me appreciate her fucking demon voice even more haha It also makes the song make more sense. Pisces is basically Ying/yang...the duality of life and personality .

Harsh vocals are definitely an acquired taste. My favorite metal band actually features harsh vocals quite often. They have two vocalists: their rhythm guitarist does the harsh vocals and they have a female member with a beautiful soprano voice. The band is Epica.
They are chillin because this is the softest song in Jinjer's lineup. This is like a bedtime lullaby. Tatiana is a born superstar. She has the stage presence of any of the greatest frontpeople ever. Their live performances are something special.
