Wait until you hear her low growls, they get BRUTAL. Everyone is going to say Perennial, and that is a good song, but if you really want to check out how low she can go check out "Pit of Consciousness" live in Kiev. And no, Tatiana has NO formal training. Just lots of practice and an insane amount of natural talent. (edit: for a really awesome belted section try "Captain Clock" from Resurrection Fest '19)

Perennial live at Wacken is usually the next song recommended because it shows not only how well she sings live, but also how quick she can switch from the growl to clean vocals. I would agree Pit of Consciousness is the best to show her low end of vocals.

@@randomhockeyguy9149 Her switches in Pit are just as quick and flawless. I like to suggest harder songs to Metal people, especially Metal vocalists. Perennial is a great showcase, don't get me wrong. It does appeal more to people that aren't used to heavy-ass stuff.

I am actually baffled at how you haven't even heard of Jinjer before!?!? But hey, better late than never lol. They are insanely talented, and seeing them live should be added to ur concert bucket list immediately. Theyre also Ukrainian, specifically from the eastern part that was annexed by Russia back in 2014. Most of the band was in Kiev when the war broke out more recently, but luckily managed to stay safe and go on tour with proceeds donated to relief efforts back home.
Tatiana is actually self taught. She's said that she would skip class in college and basically just go scream in an empty field until she figured out how to do it without blowing out her voice lol.
    Next songs to check out:

Check out “Perennial” live at Wacken. Also she is self taught in both sides of her voice with the exception of a few lessons as a child. You can look that up anywhere. Tatiana and the band are from Ukrian. You can also check out “Pit of Consciousness” live in Kiev for a well composed song that highlights her lows.

Tatiana Shmayluk has been my favorite female lead singer for years now (I'm obsessed). Have seen them 3 times and always a great concert (make sure you got your pit clothes on). If you want to get thrown right into the fire, listen to "On the Top and Pit of Consciousness" live at Kiev. Pit of Consciousness is one of their most aggressive songs. Way too many songs to list. Great reaction.

Wonderful reaction! Jinjer and Tatiana are on a completely different level. She is surprisingly not trained. Famously waits until the last minute to write her lyrics and until somewhat recently do any warm up or do vocal exercises. Her choices in pronunciation, cadence and other vocal technique is very tasteful in her cleans and the depths of her harsh vocals out growl most men. In a similar fashion, the boys display world class skill and together the four of them create complex, technical, and balanced songs. Be sure to check out "Perennial" live in Wacken, "Judgement and Punishment" one take, and "I Speak Astronomy". Hope to see more soon.

The growl or scream is self-taught for her but she may have had some vocal training. The Charismatic Voice reactor does about a 20-minute interview with Tatiana that is fun.

In the meantime, as far as live performances, most will tell you "Perennial Live at Wacken" or "Pit of Consciousness Live in Kiev" which are both great, but for a deeper cut check out "Cloud Factory Official Live" and "Who is Gonna Be the One Official Live". Anything with "Official Live" in the title has been remixed by Napalm and sounds great.

Jinjer is a great band from the Ukraine, they are:
    Tatiana on Vocals,
    Eugene is the Bassist,
    Roman on Guitar,
    Vlad is the Drummer.
Tracks which I recommend from them are:
"Perennial" live at Wacken Open Air Festival from 2019,
"Teacher Teacher" the official music video,
"Judgement (and Punishment)" Tatiana's One-Take Vocal version,
"On the Top" and "Pit of Consciousness" both live in Kiev,
    "Vortex" the official music video,
"Who is Going to Be The One" official live music video,
"Just Another" official live music video,
"Home Back" the official music video.
There are other tracks but these are good ones to continue with.

Hehehe Tatiana is the mistress of vocal deflowering! She devirginized my ears to harsh vocals too. I was not a fan untill I heard Tati do it. She has gateway drugged me into loving it now. But still mostly only when women do it. She makes my earholes feel violated--in a good way!
I saw a reaction vid yesterday with three ladies watching Pisces, and the one said it sounded like making love during the verse, all slow and easy, and then when the chorus came she said it felt like being dildoed by surprise lololol. And she liked it lol.

Tatiana is self trained. There is a long and interesting interview with her by Elizabeth Zharoff (The Charismatic Voice) that provides a lot of background information. Believe it or not, she is an introvert, though you would never know from seeing a live concert. In concert, you see her low growls more, and usually in concert she does not shift from growl to belt to growl at the end of Pisces. I first heard this only a week ago and I have become transfixed by this music- it is up there with Magma (another astonishing group you likely know nothing about) as a fave. The musicians are incredible and this was to introduce Vlad on drums. SO much going on- ghost notes, double tapping, chordal delays, some post production work done here and some pitch correction, but in the end this is one of the most incredible pieces of music I have ever seen.

I saw Jinjer this past July when they headlined at a small beer garden venue on an off day from their touring with Disturbed. Instead of a 6 song set they were doing as a support band, they did a 14 song set at this show. It was the best show I saw last year. Tatiana can go much lower with her harsh vocals than she did in this video. When they performed the song Vortex, she got so low that it was actually a rumble that I felt in my gut. She can be so ferocious in her harsh singing but her cleans are gorgeous. As you saw in the video, she can also belt with the best of them. Between songs, she is so damn charming. Hands down, Tatiana is the best female metal singer today and a case can be made that she is the best metal singer period.

Her growls are thick, she can switch between cleans and growls mid-sentence, she can color her voice in tons of different ways in both cleans and growls, her diction is really good also on growls and she has nice set of clean singing styles like reggae, jazz etc.

If you'd dive deeper you'll find a lot of brilliant stuff.
First of all the band is 14+ yo. Jinjer recorded few albums before this song. But they are from the East of Ukraine so they had long and tough way to the recognition.
By the way if you'd sort Napalm videos by views you'll see that this video is the number 1 with 81M views (the 2nd one has 51M currently).
The band is great live. Most of their songs have better live recordings than studio versions. But not Pisces (for some reasons they don't have perfect concert version of this song).
There're lots of official videos of their performances and even more phone videos from the crowd. You can easily check it out and could be sure that this band is a real deal.
Tatiana (the singer) can go much lower (Pit of Consciousness, Who's Gonna Be The One, Vortex, Home Back etc) but she use high screams as well (Who's Gonna Be The One, Judgment and Punishment (one take vocal performance is the best choice), Sit Stay Rollover etc).
And yeah, she has great clean singing. Many people compare her cleans with Gwen Stefani and sometimes even with Brittney Spears but I'd say she has her own distinct, recognizable voice. Her natural voice is a bit low for a girl so she can go realy low with her clean singing too but she can belt as well as you can see.

    • @ericpeterson7512
      @ericpeterson7512 Před 5 měsíci

Hey Kevin my Atlanta show brother! At that show I went in with a determination to watch what Eugene was up to. As a bassist I had already started trying to learn a few of his parts (yeah, TRYING, and I've been playing bass professionally for 45 years). I was excited to see it up close, after only having discovered them a couple weeks before the show, and I got there early and stood right in front of Eugene.

It's the classic "where have you been all my life" lol. Don't feel bad bro, I've been playing in metal bands for 45 years, and I just discovered Jinjer a little over a year ago. Like a lot of people, I was like "How have I not been listening to this for years!" Like the girl of my dreams had been working at the desk next to me for years and I hadn't even noticed her. Like, this band has everything I like, and some stuff I didn't even know I liked!
It was love at first listen for me. After two songs I was searching the internet for upcoming live shows. Imagine my delight when I learned they were playing in my region not two weeks later. General admission at a small venue, tickets still available cheap. Four hour drive, but screw it!
Witnessing Jinjer live sealed the deal like a mofo bro. I've seen a lot of shows. Hell, I've played a lot of shows. I saw Rush 36 times. I thought I'd never see another band approach that level of professionalism, passion, attention to detail, musicianship and sheer hugeness of sound. Jinjer proved me wrong. Every member of the band is top tier on their instrument, and I include Tatiana because her voice is an instrument. Like a freaking Stradivarius. She's one of a kind. In my mind only Tatiana has the beauty and variety of cleans, the variety and articulation of harsh vocals, the overall emotional expressiveness, the poetic lyrical ability, and the superhero stage presence, all in one person.
And I could watch each member of Jinjer by themselves all day. Each one is a monster. Check out their playthrough videos. None of them do solos, although they all could easily. Now that I think about it, there's hardly a moment in their music when they're not all playing together. And yet the variety is awesome. Multiple genres and styles, dynamic variation from heavy to soft in almost every song, time signatures and tempo all over the place. But all under complete control.
These guys repay you for your time and attention. The more you learn, the more you love. Enjoy! Thanks for the excellent reaction. Liked and subbed. Welcome to the Jinjer Army! Slava Ukraine! Slava Jinjer!

Tatiana is 100 times better in concert, I fell in love with her when I saw Jinjer open for Disturbed last year (which was my intro to the band). Also, I've seen her say in multiple interviews that she doesn't have any formal training and is almost entirely self-taught... even spending months alone in her apartment learning to scream like that when she decided that needed to be part of her skill set.

There is a little bit of treatment to the voice, yeah. I mean, the song was recorded live (and we're seeing one of the takes in the video), but sure the voice was dubbed (lower or higher, I couldn't tell). And I think some of it was pitch corrected. At some points, you can hear it, but it was really well done and not on the parts where not being pitch perfect adds to the expression. Very good job regarding the performance AND the post-production. Perfect.

You should check out Perennial Live at Wacken Festival for one of their best live performances. Also just a bit of history, the band formed in 2008 but the lead singer Tatiana didnt join till 2009. None of the original members are left and she is now the longest running member. the guitarist Roman joined in 2010 and bassist Eugine joined shortly after in 2011. The drummer Vlad joined in 2016 after the old drummer had an accident in 2014 which left him unable to play. They also were a 5 piece band early on with 2 guitarists, but the other giutarist Dmitriy left the band in 2015 and they remaned a 4 piece since then. They are also from Donetsk in eastern Ukraine so had early first hand experience of the russian invasion since the annexation of Chrimea and the war going on now has been going since then. They have a song called Home Back from 2018 that talks about their experience of the war. Ive been a fan since 2014 and saw them live for the first time last year and they are way better live than in any recorded material. Just a shame they dont play many of their early songs any more. The oldest song i heard them play was Pisces but there is 1 album and a 7 track ep from before that which they dont play anything live from at the moment

Hey dude from Aus I saw them here in Melbourne just before the lockdowns. Tati is a freak live and a performance animal on stage! She taught herself to growl by screaming at cars on the highway! When she sang Pisces the only thing that was missing was the high belt She growled that whole section! One of the best shows I've ever seen! Check out one of their recent releases like Vortex. Cool reaction man. Jon from Aus

You might as well go deeper down the rabbit hole... maybe check out Teacher Teacher official video, " Perennial " live at Wacken, " Who is gonna be the one " official video at a minumum. And yes they are just as solid if not more so live. Their musical abilities and creativeness is for a fact off the charts.

everyone in the band is self-taught at their respective crafts. (well, Vlad is a classically-trained pianist ; but taught himself drums by watching youtube)
for the Live experience, check Perennial live at wacken 2019 , and/or Pit of Consciousness live in Keiv.
for her absolute bottom end, either Vortex (which also has my favorite drum fills), or Home Back.
For versatility, Teacher Teacher is usually a go-to.

Their studio engineering is top tier. That said, I do think they unnecessarily engineer her vocals on a few studio tracks. For example; Perrenial studio, great; live, absolutely stunning. On the Top, studio very good; live, absolutely ferocious! I think the normal correct choice is hand Tati the mic and step out of the way. Her cleans, especially her lower range, are glorious!
