In the norwegian version of Taskmaster called Kongen befaler, Bård Ylvisåker (from Ylvis) managed 2 hours and 47 minutes without blinking

@@Fucisko I thought about that too, but tried it just now (keeping my eyes open without blinking but allowing myself to wink), and... it really didn't help at all. If anything it just made it worse.
Meanwhile in Norwegian taskmaster - 2 hours 40 minutes. The man stopped only because he had to make dinner for his family haha

The world record is just below 41 minutes. What likely happened is that he was blinking the entire time, just way too fast for anybody to notice.
If he genuinely had his eyes open for two hours without blinking he would of gone blind do to the damage done to his eyes by them drying out. So yea, I'm sure it wasn't judged right.

We believe this to be in violation of the spirit of the game, however, unless humans all agree to the rules there are no rules to break.

Couple of tricks for not blinking. Keep your eyes half-closed to reduce the surface area exposed to the air. Roll your eyes around so that some parts go under your kind and get some moisture. Tilting your head upwards or downwards will allow the tears to pool up and spread across the eye easier. Just what I learned from being determined to win staring contests in middle school. Once held my eyes open for 20 minutes for fun.

i have an idea.. when he went out to "tip the tears out", alex couldnt see his face, the cameras couldnt see his face... he could have blinked!

Gotta love all these taskmaster uploads lately! As a non-brit, this is I think the only way I can watch the show, but even with only these snippets, I've grown to adore it
Actually there are first 5 series uploaded on this channel already and new episodes come out every week. They're region locked for most of the world, but you can always use any kind of VPN to watch them

I was hoping for some answers in the comment section! The whole video I was thinking that the gauges had to have been a dare or something. And whether or not you could fake having gauges lol.

I went back to the taskmaster official playlists and was like " He doesn't have them in these episodes... are they CGI'ing them out for television?!?" (which I only thought because it defin looks like you can see his chair behind him through the flesh tunnels

I got an eye surgery that made me lose some feelings in my eyes and one of them is the sting of dry eyes. I’m the champion of staring contests now

I've only sen a handful of clips from this show, but enough to know to try and game the task. As soon as it mentioned nothing about having to keep eyes open during timing, I knew I would have kept them shut!

As someone who splits my time evenly between glasses and contacts, I can tell you for a fact that the girl did so well because she had contacts in (you can see them if you look closely). With contacts, you can hold off from blinking for an exponentially longer time than without them. The guy, meanwhile, doesn't look like he has contacts in. So, that's impressive.
Back in high-school I could've won this, one of my science teachers had something wrong with him where either he couldn't blink or didn't have to and his tear ducts just keep his eyes lubricated, I thought it would be fun to do a staring contest while he taught class and by the end of the year I could keep my eyes open for like the entire class but I think it messes your eyes up if you do it for too long
I expected Rhod to close his eyes, since it technically isn't blinking, and he seems like the one who thinks outside the box most of the time

Norway did this too on our version of Taskmaster. Most was arount 5 min to 30 min but one guy took it overboard and went two hours. In that time he even drove to McDonalds and home 😂

i had already thought about keeping my eyes closed and not opening them afterwards to last longer when in one of the previous tasks their time started when they blinked

Another option other than just closing your eyes at the start could have been to just wink the whole time. Wink one eye, then wink the other.
Blinking is the action of quickly closing and opening your eyes. If you keep your eyes closed, you can not blink for a very long time

Blinking is the act of closing and then opening your eyes in rapid fashion. So just keep your eyes closed. You could keep that going for hours.
Pro tip to win starring contest, don't breath through your nose at all, it draws some air through your eyes causing them to dry out.
There's a condition called Lagophthalmos where your eyes never fully close, people have gone their entire lives without blinking

ive had bells palsy for the last 5 months havent blinked my left eye since april i would kill this challenge lol
