Thank you Richard I am so pleased that someone liked or loved “ Mike and Bernie Winters, this video has many comments and most are against them. Have a wonderful Wednesday.👏🎭👍
There act was very limited but on variety theatres you could use a modest amount of material time and time again up and down the land ....i always felt Bernie didnt need Mike. . As double acts go...a out 5 or 6 out of 10 i would say
Mike and Bernie were pioneers in alternative comedy. They got plenty of bookings all over the country. They made a good living out of their act and appeared at the London Palladium. They appeared on the Royal Variety Show in 1962 and other venues and even had their own TV show over the years. How did that happen I hear you ask......... Simple.....Because Mike and Bernie were the only alternative.
All these stupid people laughing and having a good time being happy. Why can't they be miserable, negative moaners like you. What do you have to offer, snarky, sarcastic comments and moaning. They just made people happy. What a pity you weren't there to tell everyone not to have a good time.
They were closely related to the 2 Bosses of Entertainment: Sir Bernard Delfont who owned THe London Palladium and other Theatres and Sir Lew Grade who got them their Show and Variety Performance. lol
When asked what he'd like to be if he wasn't a comedian, Eric Morecambe replied, quote, "Mike and Bernie Winters". Quite a witty off the cuff response. I've no idea if there was actually a friendly rivalry between Morecambe and Wise and Mike and Bernie Winters as they appeared at more or less the same time. Mike and Bernie however were always in the shadows when compared to Eric and Ernie.
Its not a competition, this isn't the football league. They entertained and made people happy. Not the miserable wingers here, obviously, but millions of Brits liked them and had a good laugh. That was their job and they seemed to enjoy doing it. It's not today's comedy, but people in 40 years time will find today's comedy passe. Where do all these negative moaners come from?
Francis Artanis Thank you Francis for your comment,I did like them in their Hay day ,and Bernie was very funny as a Funny man,but Mike was nothing without Bernie.
I never liked double-acts, and never found Morecombe & Wise funny at all... However; I always liked and enjoyed Mike & Bernie and have many fond memories of their shows. May they rest in peace - pure gold!
@@bobdobalina2931 Thank you Bob for your honest assessment of Mike and Bernie Winters, they were like Marmite you loved them or not,lol Have a wonderful Tuesday.👏🇬🇧🎭
They were very hit and miss I thought (and my English teacher at school, who was a better judge, thought so too). Sometimes they were funny and sometimes they weren't. I'll say this though; I preferred Mike as a straight man to Ernie Wise. He was a good musician too (played the clarinet very well). The song and dance routine at the end of their shows was always good too and something they didn't really get credit for.
Thank you very much for your view and great comment, this act has a lot of comments some good and some bad, mostly bad. Your comment about Ernie Wise was interesting
Another miserable git. Connections? Is this a race conspiracy? They sold out theatres across Britain and made people happy. People enjoyed them and laughed. Your contribution to the world is depressing comments. The only laughter you get is at you not with you.
They were directly related to Tge Guv'nor of TV: Sir Lew Grade and his Brother: Sir Bernard Delfont who owned The Palladium and many other Theatres..lol
I guarantee no one will be sad when you go. They were enjoyed by Brits and are remembered today. You? No, no one will be sad on your demise. There may even be some cellabrating. Not a pity.
It really worries me when I see people say this, I mean seriously! If you think this is so bad, then I wonder what you think of today's TV? It's boring and bores me to tears; lots of reality overpaid rubbish people with nothing else better to do - and they are horrible... These funny men worked hard to get on to TV; it wasn’t handed to them on a plate - and they were never paid the kind of money they get today for doing nothing...

ABC tv were the Saturday and Sunday ITV franchise holders for the north of England, which then included, Yorkshire as well as Lancashire and adjoining counties, and also the Midlands region based in Birmingham aswel. Interesting 2 c this. I know in the early days they were rivals of Morecambe & Wise on the variety circuit. Ironically Eric & Ernie were like brothers & these brothers didn’t get on. Sadly not very funny but then this may not be their best work I hope.
Even Little and Large were better than this......The Winter"s relied purely on Bernie"s goofy grin for laughs Without that they were even less funny.....Worst double act ever
