SUMMARY
From 1969 to 1984 I used 13 different artists with the Brotherhood of Man, I recorded 204 different tracks, which I wrote or co wrote 149 different songs, I released 36 singles in which 14 charted, I released 20 albums in which 6 charted, the Brotherhood of Man received over 30 Silver, Gold and Platinum discs.
I now look back with joy at those wonderful years and am delighted that I was instrumental in putting together such an array of wonderful talent, like the late great Johnny Goodison who went on to write and produce many hits. Tony Burrows to this day is still recording and still has a wonderful career touring with White Plains. Roger Greenaway along with his partner Roger Cook went on to become one of the greatest writers that this country has ever seen, also chairman of the PRS (performing Rights Society) and vice president of ASCAP. Russell Stone along with his lovely wife went on and recorded many hits. The talented Sue and Sunny carried on with session work and went on and recorded many big hits of today. Barry Upton whom I also had the pleasure of writing many hits songs with, Barry also went on to write hits in his own right.

I can just about remember them hosting variety shows, then Bernie Winters having his own show with the St Bernard that lasted a couple of years. Never great, but my parents told me Mike and Bernie were as big as Morecambe and Wise in the sixties. Also Bernie used to appear quite a lot with Schnorbitz( the dog) and it kept his career going through the eighties as the dog had the aaah factor. From all accounts, Bernie was a charming man with no skeletons in his cupboard.
The only show double-act I
ever really liked... (much better than M & W)
Wish I could see some of their old TV shows - used to watch
them. Had a bit of a crush on Mike in the 60s when I was a kid. : - )
Thanks for posting this!
God, I'd forgotten about Mike and Bernie. What a lovely surprise to see you both this evening. I came here after hearing Eric and Ernie mention your names to Elton John. Had a trip down Memory Lane tonight, and the view was lovely. Ta. Everso.
what a pair of corkers they were ! britains answer to dean martin & jerry lewis ! I once saw them go through a plate of salt beef sarnys like stormtroopers , lovely lads .
when I was a kid I have an LP by Mike and Bernie Winters (had a Rolf Harris one too)...such great memories, I used to play them non stop
@twisted-pixel
Using the word "kid" in the same sentence as saying "Rolf Harris" is a tad creepy...
Me too. This one was my favourite. Still remember the lyrics 😂😂
They were a brilliant comedy duo and good musicians. I worked on the same bill with them on American bases and in clubland. It's tragic that they fell out in a silly argument over their wives.
Mike and Bernie suffered from poor material later on, which irked Mike in particular, and should have been given better scriptwriters. They were very big in the sixties, but their career declined in the seventies to the point Mike emigrated and never did television again. Bernie survived by reinventing himself with Schnorbitz and being a good panel game contestant.
I l❤ve this song ineffably.
viva! cabaret
Top of the second division. Working what they got very hard and all for a laugh. Tony, did you know Bradford club singer Ray Paxton (often Ray Rio on stage amongst others handdles) he had a sweet voice like Johnny Mathis- he was also a bit of an old rogue, bless him. I remember BHoM were kind to him when he was in trouble. I was a comic who was a degree crapper than Mike and Bernie once upon a time.
I LOVED Mike & Bernie Winters Shows; much better than M & Wise; I couldn't tolerate those two; they tried too hard to be funny - Mike & Bernie were real natural entertainers! Thanks for uploading this!
The four worst winters of the 20th century- 1947,1963, Mike and Bernie!
how cool are they....just like Eric & Ernie....but in there own way....dev
What the name of christ is this ???
Then people wonder why music hall died. It was simple, it was because it was shit
This song is better than any of todays rubbish. I guarantee if this song was re-released today it would get to the top of the hit parade.
@bonnie43uk
"the top of the hit parade", you say:)
*LOOOOL!!!* Bless you, dear.
@@hyena131 wow, a reply to a comment i made 9 years ago, do they not have a hit parade these days??
@@bonnie43uk
I'm impressed you replied after 9 years!! I think it's safe to say that "hit parade" is very much a term from yesteryear. And it's hardly surprising you used it considering you're singing the praises of the winters brothers in the 21st century.
Give 2023 a bash, grandma - it won't bite!!
@@hyena131 next you'll be telling me Snorbitz is dead !
@@bonnie43uk
Snorbitz lives forever in my heart and soul...
