- Dr. Sam Schroetke of Physical Therapy & Hand Clinic of Hillsboro demonstrates how using a roll of paper towels can be used for a lumbar support and be just as effective as the more expensive versions. Dr. Schroetke uses a full roll of paper towels, but if this is too large for you, simply peel away layers until the size is appropriate for you. You may need to lightly tape the roll to ensure that it lasts longer.
The nice thing about this solution is if a new roll is too large to be comfortable, just use some of it and try again. I did that and I now have a $.50 DIY lumbar support that fits perfectly.
This is fantastic resolution : cheep ,affordable to all of us ! Thank you very much! God bless you ! ♥️👍🇭🇷
Most times DYI ideas are far better than the highly marketed gadget products
Thank you so much for this! I have scoliosis, osteoporosis, and compressed nerve. Oh the pain !
I hope this helps. For most people, the most effective exercise for back pain and pinched nerves is this one: czcams.com/video/6K7e-n9f1LA/video.html
Try it for a couple of days, use a lumbar support and let me knw how you feel after a couple of days.
Thanks! Im on vacation in Europe and need something in a pinch! (No Amazon here) . Ill try this!

Thanks for that!
This worked very well! Thank you!
Edgar, paper towel roll sometimes works even better than the actual lumbar support you can buy. If you are having back pain, you may give this exercise a try: czcams.com/video/6K7e-n9f1LA/video.html
THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Thanks. In comparison an MD or DO would just write an Rx + bill for an office visit and call it a day, and when the patient got so bad meds wouldn't work order a wheelchair.
That was cool...
thank you
Thank you for sharing this!
God Bless...
Thank you for posting. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. God Bless. Christ is Risen!
You can even attach a DIY rope into the hole then secure it to your chair 😌
I love you.. i will try it inshallah. Driving's my job.. hopefully it doesn't lead me to my own demise
Awesome
Hi, appreciate the short useful instructional videos. One question, is it normal to feel my butt getting pressured down and should I be actively flexing my back? Thank you.
There are a few easy and great exercises. Look them up.
Hurray for the simple hacks
Hi there, would you recommend this for when you're sleeping on your back?
It gets very very uncomfortable. Maybe try a rolled up towel for that purpose so theres a little more compressibility? I'm not a PT but I have tried sleeping with a paper towel role. Too large to be comfy and I couldn't go to sleep!
I've bolstered my somewhat sinking mattress with old folded blankets on the underside......really helped! Also, while on my back I sleep with a pillow under each leg at the knee which helps the lower back. Good luck!
I use an empty bottle.
So you got swayed back...
No. The lumbar support keeps you in a neutral spine position... it doesn't not force or keep you in extension beyond neutral.
