In April 2020, The Danish Broadcast Corporation (DR) will air a concert called “Agents Are Forever” performed by The Danish National Symphony Orchestra featuring music from spy movies and detective movies.
Featured composers were John Barry, John Williams, Henry Mancini, Michael Giacchino , Lalo Schrifrin, David Arnold/Michael Price, Bernard Herrmann and many more containing music from James Bond/007 Mission Impossible, Sherlock, Homeland, Dick Tracy, Pink Panther and more

This is the only Bond movie of my youth that holds up, and it is all because of Diana Rigg. As a 12 year old, I enjoyed the cartoonish nature of Bond movies. Thought this was what sophisticated adult entertainment was like, but looking back, they were ALL pretty corny.

John Barry was a genius.
OHMSS was quite possibly his best Bond soundtrack, and the film is easily one of the best in the series.

Agree to disagree. The Soundtrack is indeed epic and one of the best, but the film falls flat. Connery and Dalton were much better as Bond and their films were much better.

The Ski Chase in OHMSS was incredibly epic. One of the best parts of the Film. Music just makes it BETTER.

I certainly think he did a very competent job in an unenviable situation - but career-wise he was
a fool to himself. The film was well up to the mark of other Bond productions, with some really
impressive episodes along the way.
@@songsmith31a It's a shame he didn't do more than just this one. I felt he brought some realism to the role. As another described he was vunerable and didn't always know what to do. Timothy Dalton also did a good job to bring back the darker side of Bond. To show how ruthless he really could be and to show he took friendship seriously. Moore was too campy at time and he held on for one movie too long. Brosnan was a good mix of seriouness and comedy. Craig was more like Dalton in the darkness and true nature of the character. Connery was a mix of all of these, he was ruthless yet had a comical side when appropriate.

it due to his reported arrogant attitude and behaviour. He went from being an advertising model
(Mr Fry?) to the lynchpin of a great film franchise but somehow managed to screw it up by
his antics when he could have carried on and made the role his own. What a shame for him
(and us) thinking what he could have done with the role after an impressive (despite the critical bashing) debut in OHMSS.
My favorite Bond film with an incredible performance by Lazenby.
They had to pay Connery a small fortune to come back and play Bond in Diamonds are Forever. People didn't like the tragic ending of On Her Magistee's Secret Service ended.
Along with "CASINO ROYALE" this is the by far the Best Story line of any Bond Movie....and music wise second to none...🙏

I really like this orchestra. They play many of our favourite modern classics but don't mess about with them. They produce a sound very much like that which we all first heard, often at the cinema.

Probably the most underrated movie from Bond... And the settings at Portugal and Switzerland are as stunning as the soundtrack... A small homage to Louis Armstrong, also in this soundtrack in his last ever recording 😎👍🏾

I got goosebumps when they used this music in the promo reel for The Incredibles. I hoped they would have used it in the actual movie, but they didn't.

I am a fan of 007 movies and OHMSS is my favorite because of many things. This theme is one of them.

One of the best Bond themes; unfortunately the movie is often overlooked and underrated simply because it starred George Lazenby, who left the series after the single film. Also it skews more towards realism like the Bond novels - 007 is not an indestructible superhero in the film like in so many others. He's very cool-headed and resourceful, to be sure, but also very human. He makes mistakes, he doesn't always know what to do, and at one point in the story is very genuinely afraid for his life. If the film had been made with Connery after "Goldfinger" (which was the original plan) it could have been absolutely stunning.

I was with you up until your Connery comment. As much as I love Connery’s Bond, I don’t think he could have pulled off the emotional, vulnerable side that Lazenby gave it. By the end of Goldfinger he’d already become a superhero. OHMSS is the ‘perfect storm’ of the series for me; The right actor, the right end of the 60s, the location, the casting, the script, Peter Hunt... We’re lucky to have such an oddity in the midst of such a hit and miss series.
The thing with this music is, even if you've never seen OHMSS (and you really should), you'd know it's a Bond theme.

The Danish National Orchestra is absolutely awesome! The spaghetti western songs they do are off the charts perfection. Merricone and Clint Eastwood would definitely approve.

George Lazeby The man that made james bond a vulnerable human. Despite the wooden acting, he was truly a Bond That was genuine. Even tracy made him stronger. On her majesty's secret service will always be the greatest and last bond film ever made that had some substance.

George himself came up with that line. When the fight started on the sand but wound up in the water, ice cold water, George said to the director, " Did the other fella have to do this also?" So it was kept in.

Loved it and loved the movie. I loved the sequence in the movie that starts Bond's escape from Piz Gloria and ends with Bond and Tracy spending the night in the barn.
In my view, the best of John Barry's compositions for the James Bond movie series.
My first Bond film, and it affected my view of all the others, before and after. For me it's the best, no question, and the music blew me away even though I was only seven when I saw it.

Funny how one of the least known Bond movies has one of the best and iconic music for all of the Bond movies. I still rank Living Daylights in the top three of Bond music too.

An under-rated film at every level.
IMHO this is the most beautiful theme song of any James Bond movie. It also happens to be the theme song for my favorite 007 film. I had a HUGE crush on Diana Rigg when she starred in "The Avengers," and she was absolutely stunning in "OHMSS." I cried my eyes out when she was killed in the end.
But my favorite part of the movie was in the beginning when the girl that Bond has just saves runs away from him instead of falling into his arms. George Lazenby breaks theatrical protocol by looking into the camera and then says, "This never happened to the other fellow!"

It’s up there, definitely. I always laugh though when I see “Additional Dialogue by Simon Raven” appearing *before* the credit for Maibaum. Who did Raven know, excellent novelist that he was?

They it builds this air of gradure, its service to her majesty and you know your mission, this feels like a soundtrack from a spy game rather than a spy movie. Brilliant performance from all the musicians involved.

@@Robertjim7669 Thank God it was Lazenby instead of Connery in “OHMSS”! In the previous film Connery was bored and dull. In the succeeding film he was twenty pounds overweight, and might have passed for Lazenby’s father!
