  • Welcome to our Spotlight Sessions, a series dedicated to conversations with change-makers and people that have made an impact on the community of people with disabilities.
In this episode, we had the opportunity to speak with Shira Wakschlag, Senior Director, Legal Advocacy & General Counsel at The National Arc of the United States. The Arc is the largest national community-based organization advocating for and with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and serving them and their families.
Shira shared thoughts on the following topics:
    1. Her journey and personal connection to disability rights advocacy.
    2. Why the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires continued recommitment and legal defense.
    3. The power of court testimonials by people with disabilities, by sharing their lived experiences.
