Restoration and Renovation Turkish Mauser Bayonet Knife 1890

- Hello folks! Today I will show you a new restoration of the Turkish bayonet knife of the 1890 model to the Mauser system of the 1890 model. This bayonet is so old that in our time it has already come remade, shortened. The rings are cut off, the length is reduced by half. But, I will bring him back to his senses, well, let's start the restoration.
First, I removed the old handle pad and placed the bayonet in the rust remover. Then washed, dried and oiled. The surface of the entire bayonet was cleaned with a cord wire brush.
The blade was corrected on the sanding machine and began its light sanding. Only to remove small scratches and dark places from rust.
The pads for the handle of the bayonet were made of walnut wood. Steel rivets. After the final processing, I moved on to creating a wooden scabbard.
I know that the original scabbard is not wooden, but it is impossible to create them together with the details at home. After gluing the wooden parts together, I started processing.
The scabbard was pasted over medium natural leather and made of sheet steel fittings. Also made of thicker leather suspension for the ability to wear on the belt. I didn't sharpen the bayonet knife, I don't see the point in that. But I did a strength test.
I believe that the renovation of this Turkish bayonet was successful

когда ожидать выпуск реставрации предмета, похожего на молоток, обмотанный изолентой, засветившийся в этом выпуске ориентировочно на двадцатых секундах второй минуты?🤣
Отличный вопрос, вот только когда и зачем. Кстати он еще работает))))
@@ScrewsAndTools Честно признаться - у самого молоток в более плачевном состоянии, всё руки не доходят заменить и зафиксировать рукоятку, видимо, тешит та же мысля - что он тоже пока исполняет свои функциональные обязанности, хотя теоретически и с высокой долей вероятности весьма травмоопасно :)
Вот и я про это. Все руки не доходят)))
@@ScrewsAndTools А вообще, чтобы у злопыхателей не было ни малейших поползновений по этому поводу - я всегда отвечаю, что в этом и отличие уровня Мастера от Дилетанта: что первый "на коленках" может сварганить из чего угодно и что угодно, это как у Страдивари (или у другого виртуоза, могу ошибаться - простительно, старею🤣): когда завистники все струны на скрЫпачке порвали, а он на одной слабал так - что только "кепочку держи"!!!🤣

The true test would be to find a Turkish Mauser Rifle to fit this bayonet and put it to a true workout. Okay, not that strenuous, just enough to give it a good run. Beautiful work, keep it going.

I'm impressed with that homemade blade vise. A large tube, two pieces of wood and a screw - yet I bet it holds stuff far more securely than anything I have on my own shop. Bravo. I hope you don't mind me copying that design, because I'm totally gonna!

Реставрация просто космос. Штык, а теперь уже полноценный нож сохранил свои "годовые кольца". Отдельно понравились ножны, то что они не оригинального вида не делает их хоть немного хуже. Выглядит очень эстетично и подходяще. Алекс, дорогой, вы просто мастер. Madloba, если я правильно пишу это транскрипцией)

Absolutely excellent restoration. What is more I find the craftwork required for the furniture and fittings to be just as fascinating as working on the blade itself. I don't think that most people realise how much work went in to scabbards and belts. All they are interesting in is the blade-smithing. However the men who finished the knives and swords were equally skilled master craftsmen themselves.

Был лет 40 назад немецкий штык нож, бакелитовые накладки с насечкой, воронение целое, даже кнопка работала. Гарда была один в один как в обзоре, только форма клинка была обычная, не такая как мы сейчас видели...
Приветствую, я тоже так же думал изначально. Но потом нашел оригинал в котором длина составляет 590 мм. Ведь большая часть штыков первой мировой - переделки.
С вероятностью 95% это был штык нож К98 системы Маузер. Там всегда были два варианта деревянные и бакелитовые. Бакелитовые больше ценятся и даже копанные они всегда в отличном состоянии.

Он был короче , есть варианты длиннее... Сталь там была не фонтан! Я, его втыкал с 18 шагов (личный рекорд), часто конец гнулся, я тут же его об дерево выравнивал и метал с нова.
Хорошо помню надписи на клинке... С одной стороны номер, с другой стороны "HOLLER", только над О две точки...
Поменял на пистолет - зажигалку, которую учитель английского языка забрала на уроке... и, ведь в то время не пожалуешься... Родители узнают, ещё хуже будет ..

Работа - огонь! Особенно ножны понравились... У меня был немецкий штык - нож, я тогда был подростком и не смог изготовить к нему ножны (мне он достался без ножен). Да и время было такое, что даже родители не знали, что у меня есть такое холодное оружие. Я его прятал в сарае, брал с собой когда ходили с друзьями на ночную рыбалку, на сома. Очень удобно было им рубать ветки для шалаша, да и вообще, когда ночью сидели у костра, ощущалось, что мы хоть как-то вооружены!

Здравствуйте. Хорошая работа, но мой совет на будущее. Никогда не садите накладки рукояти на эпоксидку. Это моветон, для реставраторов ХО. И штык все таки наверное не к Маузеру, а скорее всего по мотивам какого нибудь Маннлихера образца 1888 года или турка 1890-х годов, но это не факт. Удачи Вам. Видео зачёт.

Another great restoration, and I personally think that shortening the original blade makes this kind of bayonet more usefull as camping / utility knife.

Ну, что сказать?)) Отлично!!! В этот раз решил прибор для ножен из железа сделать)) но вместе с состариванием смотрится отлично!!! А про первые ножны, это даааа))) Хотя на мой взгляд, накладки на рукояти нужно было бы тоже слегка подстарить. А то слишком бодро смотрятся))) Удачи 🤝👍👍👍
