  • Ahsoka came out, and it's whatever, but Andor is incredible, and I really wanna emphasize that.
Also I haven't finished Ahsoka yet, so if the ending turns out to be really good, I guess I was wrong about everything I say about it in this video.

Just to show HOW TIGHT Andor writing was, check this dialogue from episode 4, the first scene showing Dedra Meero on that ISB meeting room.
ISB Supervisor: On a positive note, I was impressed with your DETENTION NUMBERS from Sov Tok. Far ABOVE THE QUOTA. I may be sending more of that sort of work your way."
That was episode 4. Just a LITTLE dialogue that most people don´t even pay attention (because it would be filler in most shows), which EXPLAINS what will happen to Cassian in episode 7.

The writers knew this and understood that without this crutch, they absolutely had to make the story and characters worthwhile to catch your attention. The same was true with Mandalorian S1.

Yes, people saw in Ahsoka characters they grew to love in the animations. But the live action characters of Ahsoka don''t even compare favorably with their own animated versions. Part of the problem in Ahsoka was the unbelievably flat acting. It's incredible how the animators did a better job conveying emotion than live actors. One example I note is the scene in Rebels where Ahsoka is re-united with her old Clone War buddy Captain Rex, nearly 20 years after they separated at the end of the Clone War, shortly after both of them narrowly surviving Order 66.
The moment was full of palpable emotion: Moistening eyes, quivering lips, halting movements, then a sudden rush to a long and hard hug (as we saw in Andor when Cassian was reunited with Brasso)...and this was animation.
Then in live action we see Sabine reunited with Ezra after ten years...and it's like two classmates who knew each other casually meeting again at their high school reunion. Flat.
In the animations, Ahsoka is vibrant, emotional, sometimes angry, sometimes joyous. She's more like Anakin than like Yoda, because she's not a Jedi and doesn't pretend to be.
At some point, they made her like a Jedi...and there went all the emotion as Rosario Dawson tried to emulate a _Jedi_ rather than Ahsoka.
The other problem with this series is that it fails to tell its own story. This was the middle part of something begun in The Mandalorian season 3, and nobody knows what that is. It made the mistake of not telling its own compelling story. Andor was not just a series of events that occurred at the dawn of the rebellion, it was in itself a compelling story of how one man was transformed from a moral agnostic into a significant figure in that rebellion.
And Andor even provided a compelling story of Mon Mothma, who had been only background character before...who knew her background story was so interesting. Not only did Ahsoka drop the ball on the excellent Ahsoka character that had already been created, it also dropped the ball on the newly interesting Mon Mothma character.

Another thing we cannot forget is that Andor just like the George Lucas Star Wars media always has a sense of "It is bigger than that" which is missing for me in most Disney shows and movies. For example, when Andor enters the prison, the prison seems to be alive before he gets there. While when Ahsoka enters the shipyard it just seems like a prop to move the plot forward. I mean which hidden ex-imperial force just screams for the empire instead of making an attempt to hide it.
Same goes for The clone wars show, each time a light saber is used you get a feeling that it is a very efficient tool for the jedi carrying it. Just think of Yoda slicing a repulsor in half, to disable a tank. Now in Obi-Wan it just seems like a hot beating stick that is pulled out to (look cool).
For Mando in the beginning it seems like he is visiting certain places just for the sake of it (but it kinda works) and the series is at its best for me when they do the whole imperial base thing, because the base feels like its been there before and had an impact on the area. But then they just throw it away.
All I am trying to say is most shows from Disney Star Wars feel like they are weird stage plays where locations and sometimes whole movements are just on stand by when the main characters are not interacting with them

I agree this show is amazing, I would give it a 9.3/10. I guess the only down side is Syril character, I'll explain. Don't get me wrong his character is wonderfully written but I feel like there was little use of him after the Morlana incident, but I'm torn on that point because it seems it was necessary for the 2nd season which I assume there will be a greater role for him, even then I'm still iffy on that counter point. Something else they did not do is add a useless cameo just for the sake of fan service. All in all this movie is amazing, great vid.

That escape through the Asteroid shower or whatever it looks amazing. This show was good because it took itself seriously, like the original movies did. Everything else feelslike a parody. There's a great fan edit / movie made of Andor using the ehist as the climax. It's REALLY good.

While Ahsoka is a fun, but flawed adventure created for fans of Rebels and TCW. Andor is a masterpiece. The writing, acting and dialgue is on another level. The only issue I have is that it doesn't really feel like a Star Wars show although that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Except every-2-second-cuts, this is a very good summary. I am happy that Aldhani heist is appreciated by you. My fear was that episode 6 could be very cringe, but it was the absolute opposite of that. It was masterfully executed and showed me that this show is something completely fresh and better than anything that has been made since Empire Strikes Back.

The other Star Wars shows rely on member berries. Andor is the kind of shoe they'll be doing member berries for. It's the only one that feels original and like something Lucas would have done. Doesn't hurt that it also reminds me of THX-1138.

I personally really enjoyed Ahsoka, but I agree with you 100% that Andor is the type of storytelling and filmmaking that Disney needs to double down on. As you mentioned near the end of this video, for the average viewer to fully appreciate Ahsoka they would have to watch 7 seasons of The Clone Wars and 4 seasons of Rebels. With Andor, you can just jump in from anywhere and at anytime and it is a great piece of storytelling

Asohka is basically just 8 episodes of set up and trailers for other movies that will probably not be good because jack hole Filoni is writing things and if you know the history of Filoni with Star Wars is that he sucks at writing. Yes, he has good ideas and interesting filiming and directing, but the truth is thats all hes good at and his writing is just flat out bad. And NO Filoni did NOT create clone wars, the was George Lucas and Rebels was again NOT written by Filoni. He gave ideas and story beats and the visuals but he was not a writer for these shows and his bad writing is on full display with Asohka. I have no issue with a show or movie setting up other shows and movies, but when you create a show that has dozens of mysteries you cant just leave it without ANY answers... Asohka was just a freakin trailer for other things and completely ruined it and made it feel like a waste of time when it ended with the bad guy winning and no mystery being answered.
A great example would be Avengers: infinity war. It was a complete story that while still leaving things unanswered and the bad guy winning, they didnt just make Infinity war an entire movie made to set up the next. It did set up End Game, but you could still watch Infity war alone and it would still be a complete story with almost every mystery answered while also allowing a downer ending and setting up the next movie. But Asohka instead of having a complete story arc that also sets up the next show, it is just nothing but set up and has no complete story arc for anything. Plot points are randomly talked about and then forgotten, a mustery gets introduced and then continously hinted at but never answered at all. Things just happen instead of having a good reason too and when you have dozens of unanswered questions going into the final episode of an entire season, you've done something wrong... just a glorified trailer for what will most likely be an inevitable bad movies with Filoni writing. Filoni shoukd ABSOKUTRLY direct and give ideas. But his actual writing is horrible, bland and boring and contrived. He can sure direct but he needs to stay away from the head writer role....

I mean while I am sure that Andor has a lot of interesting plotlines I personally feel that starwars is never going to be at its best without Jedi and Sith in the mix. it can be great but the addition of the jedi give the show or movie that extra defintion of being a star wars show. While I agree that Ahsoka had many problems, mainly in the first 3-4 episodes I still enjoyed it as a star wars show.

Andor really gives the true meaning for what a “Star Wars story” should be, something on the side that doesn’t effect the main story as much, where as the new shows are trying to incorporate themselves into the big picture and introduce plot holes for itself that just makes fans lose faith
The tone and setting for this show was really what sold it for me, it feels EXACTLY like rogue one, which is what a prequel/sequel should feel like, Obi Wan should’ve had the same tone/dark vibe that revenge of the sith had

I agree and disagree with you about Obi Wan Kenobi. What I mean by that is that there wasn't much interesting left to do with his story for an action packed live action TV show like Disney wanted to do but that doesn't mean there was nothing left interesting to explore in his story period. Instead they could have done a more calm, slow moving, introspective type of story about him that actually suits him and who he was while living on Tatooine but of course they couldn't do that because Disney, however an introspective, intimate story about his life on Tatooine would be wonderful to experience and while hard to pull off in film, would still be great to read in books at least. But that doesn't mean there is nothing left interesting about his story to tell between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. :)

I haven't seen Ahsoka, just Andor and the video miniatures about both shows. Andor was overlooked and dismissed by content creators for not being star warsy enough and not featuring recognizable characters until everyone came out of the woods with a video saying it's the most well-crafted, deep and intriguing piece of Star Wars made in a long time while Ahsoka was hyped and covered day one and every video title and miniature suggest a lukewarm reaction to this day.

idk to me Andor does not feel like Star Wars at all, I have a lot of issues with the state of live action star wars, and Andor as a show having a serious narrative and pacing is the best live action star wars in so long, but it just felt like scfi to me, not star wars. But yeah Ahsoka surely had a lot of problems, there were some cool moments and parts, but for me the biggest issue is how it just shoe horns Sabine and Ahsoka having this pre established relationship that just did not come across for me. And then the ending was just so rushed, it could have been paced so much better, and i agree that only Andor has taken advantage of TV pacing, which made its pacing next to perfect, the other shows often feel empty or like they are stretching things out, and rushing things at the end

I REALLY don't understand why younger generations insist on taking an OPINION, and stating it as though it's FACT. No, an opinion is NOT a fact. No, one show is not BETTER than another, you may have LIKED it more, but it's not possible to be BETTER, unless you're talking about mistakes in production, ie....someone messing up a line, and they just keep it in. Scenes that are shot out of focus, or the sound is so bad that you can't hear the dialogue, THAT'S a bad bad movie or show. But just because YOU didn't like it, that does NOT make it objectively BAD.

In Andor there is no even a glimpse of a Jedi or Sith. When they appear all become dull and black & white and lazy writing. She can fly becouse of "the force" she doesn´t died because of the force.

I'm one of those people who didn't like the Andor series, but I totally agree that disney needs to make more series like Andor, original ideas, characters and stories are what make a good series a good series, not so you put a popular character in a series and expect that this is a really good series
