A Franciscan cardinal like St Bonaventure
He is a Carmelite
Today in the US we celebrate our independence as a country and its freedoms, including freedom of religion.
I think about the Irish, English, Scottish, and Welsh and other Catholic Recusants of the British Crown and their state sponsored religion some 400+ years ago. People who decided to emigrate to America way back in the early days of the country- to be free- to practice their religion- without fear of being fined, or imprisoned, or even worse- put to death by capital punishment.
Let's hope too- that the people of Sweden become more embracing of Catholics there. Some of the Catholics there- are transplanted people or immigrants- themselves. I know Sweden is a predominately Lutheran land there, and that in the past- many Catholics there did suffer persecution from the Swedish people.
But times change.
I'm grateful for Anders to have his opportunity. It's been a couple of years now since his appointment. Hopefully, more people will listen to one of their own- in him. And that the Cardinal eventually has time at some point- to talk some about what Carmelite Mysticism is. What it means- to pray with the saints and the blesseds... finding a way to bring them into your life, in a positive and enlightening way. Once one begins to understand the importance of the blesseds and saints- I think they truly understand who and what is Christ as the son, who and what God is- as the father, and who and what is- the holy spirit. Because that last one- that's all of us who pray with- the communion of saints. It is a big difference between how Catholics and Lutherans- practice faith.

And another thing about Anders for me- is this.
And this comes from an american of partly- Swedish descent.
Cardinal Anders- he wasn't force fed to be a Catholic. He chose to do so- to be a convert- out of his own accord, his own- free will. People complain today- about how religion- is force fed down- their throats.
And honestly- as the RCC continues to go on- I think we need to be more accepting of those who wish to convert- to our faith, we've had a lot of fantastic people inside and outside of the clergy- do so- and bring their best to the table- in doing it as well.
