Refugee Week Land Art

We made this 60m piece of land art to celebrate Refugee Week 2023, the theme of which this year is compassion.
The artwork depicts Sobeda, a refugee from Bangladesh and Lucy, a local befriender who have built a friendship over the last year.
The land art was completed by refugees, asylum seekers, local community groups and schools who joined us to paint a giant flock of birds symbolising freedom, migration and compassion.
We made this with St Augustine's centre, Halifax and Counterpoints Arts and the project was funded by the National Lottery
