Growing up in the early 1800s, P.T. Barnum displays a natural talent for publicity and promotion, selling lottery tickets by age 12. After trying his hands at various jobs, P.T. turns to show business to indulge his limitless imagination, rising from nothing to create the Barnum & Bailey circus. Featuring catchy musical numbers, exotic performers and daring acrobatic feats, Barnum's mesmerizing spectacle soon takes the world by storm to become the greatest show on Earth.

The female reactor crushing on Zendaya in that first slow mo shot… I don’t blame you :)
Zendaya and Zac Efron did their own stunts for rewrite the stars. In an interview, Zendaya stated that before they went up, Hugh Jackman had called her a bad ass.
This show has probably some of my favorite choreography of all time- it always feels so lively and energetic! The bar scenes are my favorite in the show.
Fun fact: The bartender featured in the Other Side number IS the choreographer. That's why it looks so good.
YES - I especially loved the transition in the "Other Side" song to where they suddenly went from the bar to the theater area. The stairs etc. in that transition reminded me so much of the backstage area of one of the theaters I myself used to perform in. As a young adult, I got bitten by "the theater bug" really hard LOL. I had only started acting as a side hobby since I had gotten to be a FAN of theater performances... and I noticed eventually how much FUN the actors were having! Prior to that, I actually had a slight phobia of public speaking and performing, BUT this new hobby of mine was different since it would mainly be for others' pleasure instead of for the audience to critique me (as in a class presentation for example). So... yeah, this movie REALLY gets me going :D
My only regret is not seeing The Greatest Showman on the big screen. This musical film is really good, from the talented singing, amazing songs, to the wonderful choreography! Also, The Greatest Show is my favorite song. Thanks for sharing your reaction, Tim!
Speaking of the song "The Greatest Show," I did something unusual with that song-- I put together a slideshow for a General Biology II class (which contains ecosystem, evolution and diversity-of-life-on-earth topics) ... with this song plus visuals of the many miracles of Earth's living species throughout its natural history including the visually striking ones... because all of that LITERALLY is "The Greatest Show on Earth" lol!
I got you covered. I saw it 18 times in the theater.
This movie is amazing! For our high school graduation, we did the song “From Now On” and it was so successful. We had over like 40 members, 7 leads, great choreography and we practiced even during our exams so it was awesome. I will never forget it.
Same for our school, we even have the whole class to do the whole dance at abouuuut like two years ago
I wish my school did something as cool as that. We didn't do anything like that for graduation, but we did perform the greatest show and come alive at a concert and i swear I was having the time of my life. It was the first time in chorus that we actually sang *with choreography*
When I tell you this is the most magical movie I've experienced in the movie theater. I legit sobbed when she sings Never Enough. It was amazing.
Singing?
Dancing?
This show is the epitome of "Why not both?" 🎙️ 🪩
Me being a long time Disney fan I have always liked musicals, but before summer break in 8th grade I saw this movie in school and it truly unlocked my love for them ❤
This musical is based on the true story.
“Based” is more accurate
Yeah, more like just took the best parts of circuses and showed that. But actually all the people Barnum has in the public ring with him in this film were side show people in real life, except the acrobats, but they would have been white. He was such a racist guy. I understand them wanting to try to show that he was a great guy, okay, yes in entertainment he was, but he would have never done this stuff, which really sucks.
Not even close
@@hannahhester8376 Of all the things Barnum was...he was not a racist. He would exploit ANYONE regardless of gender or race or general appearance. He was in his 60s before he even got into the circus game. He was nothing more than a con man looking for the next con.
You keep using that word. I dont think it means what you think it means.....
I went to Hugh Jackman's "The Man. The Music. The Show" show in Mexico and he sang almost all his song from this movie and I LOVED IT, my favorite song is from now on :)
“Never Enough” is one of my favorite songs 🥺🫶🏻 I cry every time
“This is Me” and “Rewrite the Stars” too
@@taybear2398 Speaking of "This is Me", I did something unusual with that song-- I put together a slideshow for a MICROBIOLOGY class with visuals of the "misunderstood GOOD bacteria" together with this song LOL :D
@@sathvamp1 that seems interesting
I remember seeing this in theatres as our family Christmas movie my family and I do every Christmas and remember LOVING IT!!!!
21:44 “Rewrite the Stars” part is so romantic
If you watch the interview, Zendaya did a lot of the tricks by her self. She was on a harness, but they didn’t want to use the stunt double very much with her so she did have to learn and the spinning together seen when they’re a par, and they come together, and they spin around a circle that was them, and they actually explained how they were able to do that.
my mom took me and my siblings to watch the greatest showman in the cinemas it was amazing and years later it's still a masterpiece and one of my favorite movies of all time and loved the video ❤
When I was six, I got to see the PT Barnum and Bailey Circus. I was center ring, too. It was so magical. I wanted to be a trapeze artist afterwards. My parents let me pick out one souvenir from the show. There was nothing on sale for the trapeze, so I got something from my second favorite act: a lion tamer's whip. I am over half a century old now and still recall that day when iw as six and wrapped up in the world of the circus. PT Barnum had a brilliant idea way back when: bringing magic and mystery to the general public.
“Another critic would have called it a celebration of humanity”
I don’t know what it is, but there is something about that line that I find beautiful. Because I find what Barnum did amazing even if it was for the wrong reasons. Whatever his intentions, he created a place where people were celebrated for all their differences instead of ridiculed for them. And I think that’s wonderful.
During my town's recent 4th of July fireworks show, The Greateat Show was played almost in sync with the fireworks to build hype for the show.
idk if people mentioned, but during the bar scene with the song "The Other Side", the bartender is actually the choreographer for that scene! His name is "Daniel Cloud Campos" and h'es a very musically talented and innovative dancer :D
This is one of my enjoyable movies, as a history geek, I enjoy movies like these especially the history of the circus in America. The acting was alright it convinced me that I went back in time and saw Barnum's life, but the songs were on point and making me dance. So delighted you saw this Tim, its good.
Sadly, this is not even close to Barnum's life. Barnum was 60 before getting into the circus game. Married his second wife (Nancy Fish) 3 years later. She was 22 and younger than Barnum's daughters. He served two terms in the Connecticut legislature and was the mayor of Bridgeport at one time. He had also been a slave owner. He did vote to approve the 13th amendment while he was in the legislature. Nothing more than a con man his whole life. There was never any romance between him and Lind.
@@nightfall902 yeah sadly, they fantasied his life but it was still enjoyable wonder if any of his descendants saw this
@@rjmckenzie4706 The film was great. The score is amazing. The acting was sensational. However, portraying a villain as a hero is just wrong.
@@nightfall902 yeah sympathizing for a monster in actual history is so wrong. But great film
Hugh Jackman’s performance in this is really great in this movie. But, what I truly love about this movie are the songs. Every single one of these songs are amazing. Heck, I might even buy the soundtrack after watching this reaction. These songs feel like they should be nominated for Oscars, and I wish they did because they are masterpieces.
I remember watching it on my vacation once and i was crying and sniffling and my sister turns to me and asked me whats wrong. Just told her i just watched a great movie and recommended her to watch it too. She also cried. Loved it.
this is me won the oscars for best song in its year.
it's an anthem for anyone who even feels a little bit different
This Is Me is my favorite song from this movie. I have always been afraid to be myself. I cry every time I hear it.
Excellent film, excellent soundtrack and excellent choreography….especially the bar scene
The actor who played Barnum’s father is currently on broadway playing Neil Diamond
P.T. Barnum is from my state, Connecticut! While the real PT wasn't a good person, he still has a lot of history in our state. Also, @34:13, the place he was mayor of wasn't just a "little city," it was Bridgeport, the *largest* city in our state!
I waited so long for this reaction from you because I adoring musical The Greatest Showman😊😊I love those songs especially From now on ❤❤
I love this movie!!
So many memories as a kid going to the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus. 🤗
Just epic!!
You should watch some of the BTS videos, the rehearsals and auditions. In one of them, "From Now On", Jackman was recovering from nose surgery. Doctors had told him not to sing, or to go really easy if he did. He got so into it he ended up tearing some stiches and sang the song with a nosebleed. And the backstage performance of "This Is Me" rivals the full-on production number!
Excellent Reaction! 💖
I love that movie
So many scenes of this movie get my dopamine going.... especially since (relatively late in life, as a young adult) I had taken up acting in community theaters as a hobby... and with NO prior experience, too. I had only started it since I got to be a FAN of theater performances... and I noticed eventually how much FUN the actors were having! Prior to that, I actually had a slight phobia of public speaking and performing, BUT this new hobby of mine was different since it would mainly be for others' pleasure instead of for the audience to critique me (as in a class presentation for example). So... yeah, this movie REALLY gets me going :D ESPECIALLY just prior to their FIRST show in the movie "Come Alive" when he whips the coat on and does those intense last minute adjustments... it brought back so much adrenaline and memories from my own shows I'd been in :D
yoo let's go I've been waiting for this!!!!!!
This is Me is the theme song for my life.
21:08 The age difference between Zac and Zendaya is about 9 years; Zendaya just recently turned 27 and Zac will turn 36 next month. During filming, they would have been about 20 and 29 (filming seemingly took place between Christmas Day 2016 and April 10, 2017).
21:39 "This is early 1800s." Well, if you're going by actual history this would be more like the mid 1800s, not early, but still. (Barnum's first major hoax was the "Fiji Mermaid" in the early 1840s, and Jenny Lind's tour of America was in the early 1850s)
I love this movie, such an amazing soundtrack.
27:01 the real PT Barnum would've set the fire himself and sold tickets
Timothee, Ma Boy!
Omg Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, and Zendaya in this film, man. The Music. To see how Zac Efron came from HSM to Where he is now. Crazy man. 3:04 Hugh Jackman was in Rise of the Guardians 3:14 I’ve went to a circus one time as a kid. I would love to go to a show like this. 4:13 OMG I don’t care if I’m Working for that Dude, IDC If I get Fired You can’t and Will not lay a hand on my child. 4:36 This Kid can sing very Good. 3:35 I didn’t even know that was a transition. 6:57 Same. I don’t do heights like that. 7:54 The Real PT Barnum and His wife Charity had 4 kids. 11:18 Many of these people Existed in real life like a Bearded lady, a super Tall man, Tom Thumb, A dog man, A tattoo man, A heavy man, Anne and her brother and Philippe are movie characters they didn’t exist in real life. When I was younger I went to the Barnum and Bailey Circus(I think) with my family, My mom also went One time. Bf Me and my siblings were born. 14:27 My favorite songs have to either be “Tightrope”, “Other side”, or “Greatest show”.
Interesting to note: Zendaya trained on how to do balancing and aerial performances for 6+ weeks. So what we see in the movie is all her.
Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (2022) same songwriters but with Shawn Mendes who co-writes and performs the songs. The songs are phenomenal.
I remember when people reacting to this movie got their videos taken down because of the songs in it. Hope that doesnt happen with this video.
Shoutout to Zendaya who looked absolutely slay as the Trapeze Artist.
I love this movie. Personally my favorite songs are “Rewrite the Stars” and “From Now On”.
Same, this movie and especially those 2 songs you mentioned plus “A million dreams” and “The other side” hold a special place in my heart
This duo always makes for a good reaction, havent seen this movie but impressive cast
5:34 Him stealing the bread reminds me of Jean Valjean from Les Mis, who was also played by Hugh Jackman in the 2012 film 👀
I heard that the Bartender is the choreographer
The fire at the end you should look up. If I am not mistaken, it is still considered the most horrific fire in NY history. Because the movie was more upbeat, the producers couldn't really dwell on it. It was MUCH worse than the movie portrayed and the cause was never discovered.
The Barnum Museum itself had a series of 3 fires. Barnum had 5 fires in total. Nearly all the circus animals were killed in the Hippotheatron fire.
And I thought I could make an entrance, but this guy made an entrance with an elephant.
28:41 it was vice versa though on why she would come back. Her dad said cause she wouldn’t have enough right stuff; charity came back cause she had to much and wanted less. Only wanted family and love
The OG Big Top. :D
7:20
"This is a wishing machine."
imagine if he had invented the WAshing machine.
remember kids: always double czech your spelling.
you never know when it may cost you a fork tune.
16:56-17:03 Sick burn
You MUST WATCH "High School Musical" at some point. It's my favourite Disney trilogy. I watched it as a devoted fan from elementary up to high school. I even had a couple dances from the trilogy memorised.
Zendaya was 9 or 10 when the first High School Musical came out, and Zac was 16 or 17. They are 7 years apart in age.
It's based on the true story but they made it a lot nicer for the film.
Kindly put ;) There is not a shred of truth in the film version.
@@nightfall902The original Bearded Lady really DID have a nice singing voice apparently. 😁 But yeah, it's pretty heavily fictionalized.
@@dr.burtgummerfan439 There was some good to come from Barnum's exploitations. Many of the "Freaks" became quite well known and were able to make a decent living. If they hadn't been gifted and or oddities, Barnum would have had no use for them in the first place. Again great film, great acting, great songs...near perfect everything. It's just not Barnum..not even close.
Yeah the real PT Barnum was nowhere near as good of a person as he was in the film.
I actually surprisingly have some good memories with this soundtrack. When I was in high school my junior year, I was in choir and every choir class to open the years pop show started with the opening song of this movie, we all danced and sang the whole opening song (obviously dressed as P.T Barnum). I actually had a blast doing that pop show
Still one of my all time favorite movies!
Great Video Of Reaction to the movie the Greatest Showman even though I haven't watched the film before i can say it's always important to learn why this musical movie is the most classic legend yet.😊
Another movie I found Hugh Jackman sings on its called Happy Feet I definitely recommend it
YAHOOOOOOO, THE OTHER SIDE IS MY FAVORITE SONGGGG
Loved this musical and Hugh Jackman with Zach Efron. This also shows how you lose yourself (and others) if you become money greedy.
33:43 oh wow, i didn't know that
25:50
Wilhem Scream From Toy Story
THIS IS THE GREATEST SHOWWW!!!
WE LIGHT IT UP, WE WON’T COME DOWN!!!
This musical is based on how circus’s were invented
Actually, circuses were invented by the Romans. This is the story of circuses being reinvented.
The greatest showman has a lot of great characters and songs in this movie.
FUN FACT #1: Keala Settle (the bearded lady) didn't want to sing "This Is Me" at first.
FUN FACT #2: Loren Allerd the singer in "Never Enough" didn't want to be seen. So the actress for Jenny Lind lip-synched the song. She lip-synched because she thought she (Loren) should be the one to sing it. Not too long ago, Loren performed "Never Enough" on "BGT" (I believe). She was finally ready to sing and show her face to the world. And I think that's amazing.
21:52-21:58 YOU'VE NEVER SEEN HSM!? also, his voice here is more mature than it was back the, obviously. and he didn't sing in the 1st one, but sang in the other 2 movies. drew seeley (selena's love interest in another cinderella story) sand for zac in hsm
My favorite song is the one he and Zac Efron sing.
It's unbelievable to me that the youngstas of today don't know the story of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus which JUST shut down for good the SAME year the movie came out 146 years after he founded - THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH... Hence, "The Greatest Showman..." The beautiful, stunning Malbread watched the movie THREE times and didn't know it was based on the true story. The Bearded Lady (although a different name), Gen. Tom Thumb, Jenny Lind, "The Swedish Nightingale," were all real people too. The main character, P.T. Barnum (played by Hugh Jackman), was a real-life person who founded the Barnum & Bailey Circus in 1871. However, many of the other characters in the film, such as Anne Wheeler (Zendaya) and Phillip Carlyle (Zac Efron), were fictional creations. Bailey of Barnum and Bailey was a real person, James Anthony Bailey, who partnered with Barnum in the production of the circus. However, he is not depicted in the film as a real person.
21:00 they are 9 years apart. Zendaya was 20-21 and Zac was 29 probably
Good video love this video ❤
Zac and Zendaya have a 9 year difference.
I'm glad you liked the movie, not many are ready to see this masterpiece, you're unique Tim🎉
So happy I get to watch the movie for the first time with you Timothee and MalBrad 'cause watching movies with friends is more fun even though I'll won't see the full version at least I can say "I've seen The Greatest Showman movie" 😊👏🏻🎥🤩
No, you won't be able to say "I've seen The Greatest Showman movie" Watching people react to a 1 hour 40 min movie cut down to 36 mins is not watching the movie, get some of your friends together, get peacock, and actually watch the movie
Hopefully when you said that you watched it you meant you mpaid for the patreon to watch it, if not then youre a dumbass for thinking that watching a 36 min video of a movie equals watching the movie.
What’s your favourite song from this movie?!
Probably Other Side, though they're all pretty great
Never enough
Greatest show
Million dreams
This is me
Rewrite the stars
SO many BUT I would need to pick "The Greatest Show," - I did something unusual with that song-- I put together a slideshow for a General Biology II class (which contains ecosystem, evolution and diversity-of-live-on-earth topics) ... with this song plus visuals of the many miracles of Earth's living species throughout its natural history including the visually striking ones... because all of that LITERALLY is "The Greatest Show on Earth" lol!
"You can't slap someone else's kid!" Euh..."you can't slap ANY kid" 🤔
i still haven't seen the movie, but i've seen reactions of it. i love the songs tho
I really liked The Greatest Showman! It's not perfect, not by a long shot, but it's solid nonetheless. Hugh Jackman and Zendaya do a great job, the songs are super catchy as well as the choreography being great, and the production values look amazing. This is also had an insane 11.23x total to opening multiplier at the box office after what it seemed like a disastrous opening weekend. An example of how great word of mouth can help a film recover more than anything else.
1:29 omg tim you got quite a setup man!!
Fun fact: The bartender featured in the Other Side number IS the choreographer. That's why it looks so good.
I haven't seen the Greatest Show man. But I hear that it is good, but anyways I hope I do see it and enjoy it pretty much and I give shouts you both l, because your videos do inspire my reactions to your vids really good and keep up the good work.
Another movie with Hugh Jackman singing that you should do; Happy Feet
History Of the greatest Show P,T,B on You tube and Wikipedia and what happened to the people after the show.
This movie makes me want Rebecca as Poison Ivy.
my fave movie
I have a feeling for this musical I say remake
21:43-21:47 same!
Greatest Showman is your autobiography, right?
all time favorite movie of mine
ive rewatched it too many times and i still get goosebumps and tear up everytime
zendaya and zac did their own stunts and theres a behind the scenes where when they jump into each others arms they bump into each other way too hard haha
also yesss based on a true story but i heard pt barnum was a pretty shitty person in real life
The real reason Jenny Lind cut ties with him was his relentless marketing while on tour, not because of a relationship.
There never was a relationship. They were both in for the money.
We sung rewrite the songs in choir
33:43 "slightly exaggerated" Bruh there's so much in this film that is not true.
The only factual thing is his name.
I love this movie, but I completely separate it from the real life people, as the adaptation was liberal to say the least. It is a beautiful work of film making.
I vote that one of the next reactions is R.E.D. Retired Extremely Dangerous! Its such an offbeat comedy and one of my favorite Karl Urban roles as well as the main casts too!
Dont bother with high school musical. Zac Effron doesnt sing. Its somebody eles voice
Love this movie so much and the songs are amazing though some of them are originally sung by those that wrote them like the song This is me that they sing but any way it's still really well done. Ok some facts though. Hugh Jackman's character in reality wasn't that good of a person and I take office that they made Jenny Lynd the so called villian because she was not the villian of the story nor did she in any way make any moves on him for any reason because she never felt anything for him in that way. Also the song never enough is not sung by the actress she is simply lip singing and the real singer is behind the scenes singing the song. My favorite song here is This is me but my second one is the one that Zach and Zandaya sing together cause it's such a beautiful song and this is me is so impowering as a song as specially the way they sing it here but yes Never enough is my third favorite cause it's so beautiful.
Barnums real first performer was Joice Heth who he said was George Washington's nurse, and was 161 years old. After she passed, he sold tickets to her autopsy.
And the original Tom Thumb was Barnum's distant cousin.
great
