A translation of message at 0:01 from Yu-Peng Chen
"I'm very sorry to disturb everyone! According to the plans for my personal creative endeavors, after careful consideration for some time and several discussions with the company, I have chosen to leave miHoYo and the HOYO-MiX team to continue pursuing my music dreams! Seeing my fellow composers at HOYO-MiX team constantly growing, witnessing Genshin Impact's music progressing step by step (Fontaine Music is really great👍), and recalling the support and help the company and colleagues have given me during the music production process... It's truly the most beautiful and unforgettable memories! I earnestly request everyone's understanding and respect for my decision, and in the future, I will continue to explore the path of music. I plan to release a new album of purely instrumental music next year, and specific plans will be announced in the future. I hope you will continue to support my creations.
In the future, I will continue to explore Teyvat's wonders together with everyone as a Traveler!"
Also, note that many OSTs from the Sumeru desert were not his creations as well, the entirety of Enkanomiya OSTs, Heizou and Gorou Demo OSTs, the music from 3.2 trailer onwards till 4.0, all were created by other composers. There were too many, so I decided to include only the popular ones in this video.

@@lordbeerus7670 I believe Yu-Peng Chen was still involved (maybe less than in others ost though). If you listen carefully, he usually raises some instrument's volumes at key parts of the music when it should get more attention. Fontaine is the first one where I hear most of the instruments with more or less the same volume.

Yu-Peng Chen indeed is a very good and very talented composer, but he's leaving the HOYO-MiX team definitely not the end of good music for the game. It's sad that he's leaving, but I still have much faith on the other composers. A lot of my favourite pieces on the game are not composed by him or him alone. Another example than the one that already mentioned in the video is:
    - Die Mittsommernacht-Fantasie (Fischl's Domain Battle Theme) (Composer: Yijun Jiang (HOYO-MiX), Yu-Peng Chen (HOYO-MiX))
    - Across Dimming Asterisms (Sumeru Great Red Sand Battle Theme IV) (Composer: Yijun Jiang (HOYO-MiX))
    - Les tendres souhaits (Veluriyam Mirage) (Composer: Yijun Jiang (HOYO-MiX))
    - Irresistible Force (The Chasm Battle Theme I) (Composer: Yijun Jiang (HOYO-MiX))
    - Seething Animosity (The Chasm Battle Theme III/Nameless Ruins Battle Theme 2) (Composer: Qian Ding (HOYO-MiX))
    - Undersea Encounters (Enkanomiya Battle Theme II) (Composer: Dimeng Yuan)
    - Euphoric Ride (Veluriyam Mirage) (Composer: Dimeng Yuan (HOYO-MiX))
    - Journey by the Moonlight (Veluriyam Mirage) (Composer: Dimeng Yuan (HOYO-MiX))
    - The Owls' Nocturne (Veluriyam Mirage) (Composer: Peijia You (HOYO-MiX))
    - Dance With Fireflies (Sumeru - Mawtiyima Forest) (Composer: Qian Ding (HOYO-MiX))
    - Transparent Night (Sumeru) (Composer: Yijun Jiang (HOYO-MiX))
    - A Whisper of Evening Star (Sumeru) (Composer: Yijun Jiang (HOYO-MiX))
    - Wind of Tranquility (Aaru Village - Night) (Composer: Qian Ding (HOYO-MiX))
    - Once-Joyful Dream (The Eternal Oasis Post-Quest BGM) (Composer: Qian Ding (HOYO-MiX))
    - Resonance of Khvarena (Vourukasha Oasis) (Composer: Qian Ding (HOYO-MiX))
    - Maidens of Sanctity (Vourukasha Oasis) (Composer: Yijun Jiang (HOYO-MiX))
    And a lot more ...
I think there is so much bias in the community about Yu-Peng Chen. Other HOYO-MiX Genshin music composers really need more recognition. Everyone that already following the music in Genshin for a long time already know that there is a lot of other excellent composer since a lot of comments and video on CZcams often give credit to these composer. But a lot of other players who pretend to understand music and actually do not really follow Genshin's music seem to only recognize Yu-Peng Chen as the only good one. By Yu-Peng Chen leaving, I hope it would give more attention and recognition to the other composers.

After what? 3 years of experiencing chen’s amazing excellent inspirational work, he deserves my bias. i don’t care what other people say. his compositions are superior than other composers’ work at hoyomix. but this is not to say the other composers are inferior. no, far from it. many of their compositions are amazing too. but chen is chen. He is the better composer. probably the best in genshin. there’s good, better, best. And chen is the best.
a loss like chen will have repercussions whether we like it or not. and if fontaine music is our measure, then it shows. It can’t be denied. fontaine music is good, but I would not say it’s the best.
Is it because chen was not involved in fontaine’s music? Yes. I will not sugarcoat it. Yes.
So while fontaine music is good, it would definitely be better if chen was involved.

@skyhart9926 I see a lot of people with the same opinion, and I do agree with Yu Peng Chen being the "best." But I think this topic is too subjective to say that Fontaine's music does not hold up to the others... Maybe Fontaine's ost would have been better with Yu Peng Chen still on the team, but I think it holds up with the rest of the game's osts, and I don't think Fontaine is a step down in quality. And I consider plenty of the osts on the list above to be just as good as what Yu Peng Chen wrote, if not better. Maybe we should just wait for Natlan to see what Hoyomix does.

I see a lot of people saying that Fontaine's music feels more generic. Well, because it kinda is. It's based on European styled music, that classical music we've all heard since we were born. It's going to sound fairly generic because that's what we've heard in everything everywhere. The other nations were based off of nations that didn't get a lot of attention worldwide (anime doesn't always count because it doesn't always use "the sound of Japan"). Sumeru's music was so fascinating because the countries it's based off of is music most of us have never heard before, so of course it'll stand out. Keep in mind the regions cultures. Fontaine's music is fantastic still, it just might sound familiar because it is, so it won't hit that itch of "I've never heard this before" for a lot of people, but that doesn't mean the music isn't good.

Only two regions to go and I think that Yu-Peng Chen departing is very symbolic that things are going to end eventually. I love this game so so so much. It helped go through some really dark times and its music was a big part of it. Till this day the tracks of the Golden Apple Archipelago brings tears to my eyes. I was in such a dark place when that patch came out and the peace and sweetness of the music really helped go one day at a time. I work using a computer pretty much all day and I just love to listen to Genshin OSTs while doing it. As Someone Who's Favorite Genshin Theme is Blazing Defense I'm Still Passionate and Supportive of the whole team apart from Yu Peng Chen and I'm Positive they'll make it through this. Nevertheless this shall remain a heavy Hit for Me as the Listener is my Second Favorite Genshin Track. But even still all of the Music In This Game Is Legendary not Just the Music Made by Chen but all of the others too!

Thank you so much, Yu-Peng Chen. And thanks for making Lovers' Oath (Guizhong's Lullaby), it's my personal favorite.

Thanks for the video! I love Enkanomiya, but did'nt really know who composed all the amazing tracks of the region.

There are many talented game music composers out there and I look forward to hearing what happens next in Genshin. In particular the bigger boss themes I think were Yu-Peng Chen's work and it'll be interesting to see where that goes.

I haven't clicked a video this fast in a while.
I'm sorry to hear that because he's been my image of Genshin's OST, but I'm selfishly relieved at the same time. Enkanomiya's is by far my most favourite ost in the game, and after learning it's not made by Yu Peng Chen I'm happy to see the quality won't decrease at all.

I'm sure people are going to be more sceptical of the music in the near future without realizing that most of the music as of late hasn't been done by him already

Anyone who's worried about his departure need only look at the music in HI3 and HSR to know that there is still plenty of amazing talent at Hoyo Mix.

@@Jinni-iras17514 It's not a bait, in fact. Since music is extremely subjective, I didn't find Genshin's (or HOYO-mix's for that matter) that good. There are some tracks here and there, but that's it

I will miss him so much!! The soundtrack is what made me fall in love with this game, I will always remember him as one the greatest composers I’ve known! I really hope that the OST will still be pretty good.

It's not as good, let's all be honest, fontaine music doesn't make me bop my head, the quality of the recent trailers have diminished, they just stick to one genre, unlike yu pen cheng who knew how to mix different genres together like Raiden's theme

Blossoms of Summer Night, Devotion of the Keeper, Adroit Deputy, Nephrite of Deshret, Chasing Starlight With You, Sorush's Purity and God-Devouring Mania are phenomenal tracks that live rent free in my head.
