Why Has Texas Declared War on Washington DC?

The #UnitedStates is facing one of the worst moments in its ongoing border and migration crisis. Since the arrival of the Biden administration, border encounters with undocumented immigrants have increased like wildfire, in what some Republican leaders are already calling an "invasion".
Faced with this, Texas governor Greg Abbott has decided to take matters into his own hands, which has led to a tense confrontation with the federal authorities. Texan secessionist rhetoric has begun to gain momentum as a result and many are already touting the idea of an independent Texas.
Why is #Texas fighting to take control of its borders, and will this be the final push for Texas to finally become independent?

Couple things purposely left out of this video-
That women and her kids died on the federal border agents watch. Not the Texans. Their deaths had nothing to do with Texas policy.
And frankly, they wouldn’t have died if……
fill in the blank, then you’ll understand (at least part) of the Texans position.
The problem is real simple, the federal government is failing in its responsibility to Texas to provide security to its border, so Texas is doing it themselves, and the federal government is saying “no, you can’t do that.” And Texas is saying “Okay, then YOU do it” and the federal government is saying “No”.
The glut in migration is 100% the administrations fault, and this administration is not trying to “address the root causes in Central America.” That is nonsense, and a pathetic attempt to alleviate responsibility over the unbelievable failure of its policy.
Also, let’s remember the brilliant play to send illegal immigrants to “sanctuary cities,” cities who’s infrastructure are crumbling under the weight of (at most) a few thousand illegal immigrants, which Texas receives (at minimum) every day. Ask the working class in Chicago how they feel about it now. Ask the south side residents living under the poverty line in gang infested neighborhoods how they feel about illegal immigrants being given cell phones and debit cards and free hotel rooms in their cities. Ask them how they feel about now having another demographic to compete with for jobs and resources, a group that will get more attention because they’re vote hasn’t been secured yet.
Ask New Yorkers how they feel about all of their hotels being used as boarding houses, or the huge uptick in crime and lack of resources. The price school kids are paying while their schools are being taken over as sanctuary camps. These are all sanctuary cities rhetorically.
    Not actually.
They have no infrastructure to support any notion of sanctuary, they just force sanctuary on a federal level on states who are forced to deal with it. And BOY how their opinions changed when actually faced with the consequences.
    The Texas scenario is simply a symptom of the actual problem;
It is far too easy to immigrate to the US illegally, and far to hard to immigrate legally.
Compounding that problem is that both the left and right WANT illegal immigration. The left wants a growing voting demographic to pander to residing in key districts, and the right wants the cheap labor to keep overall agriculture / factory costs down.
There is so much purposely left out of this video to push an obvious narrative. And, of course, the “journalist” spewing this rhetoric don’t have to live in / with the consequences, or pay for the policies.
It’s amazing how far this channel has slipped into the oil slick puddle oblivion of CZcams narrative driven clickbait.

There have always been a tiny fringe group in Texas that are talking about it, but that has always been around long before the current events. Dude, when Belarus was a part of the USSR, there was also just a "tiny fridge" group that were talking about independence. In fact, during the last referendum that was taken in the USSR, about 77% of the population of Belarus was against leaving the union, and only about 20% were for it, numbers, that are quite similar to the ones Texas has now, with about 60-80% of people opposing cesession, and only about 20% of people agreeing that Texas should secede.
And yet, in 1991, the president of the Russian Federation (Yeltsin) and the President of Belarus (Shushkevich) in 1991 agreed that Belarus leaves the USSR, even though the president of the USSR (Gorbachev) was against it, but he was hesitant to intervene and arrest the cesessionist members of the government, and so Belarus got independent, even though most of the Belarussian population was against the cesession.
Now, it might be a bit more difficult for Texas to do it, because the Constitution of the USA is quite strict about this matter, but really all it takes is for the Supreme Court of the USA, the government of Texas and some powerful faction in Washington DC to be compliant with secession, and nothing would prevent Texas from leaving the USA, just as nothing prevented Belarus from leaving the USSR.
It would be a total economic, environmental and societal catastrophy that would probably lead to surges in poverty, health problems and child mortality, but it is possible, unfortunately.

While it is tragic, never mind the fact that they shouldn't be crossing through the water of the river to begin with. If anything, Texas should be commended for deterring people from trying to cross in an illegal and life threatening manner. Texas isn't trying to keep people that are immigrating out completely. Texas just wants them to do it through the proper channels.

It's like Australia where we sent back anyone trying to illegally arrive by boat(generally massively overloaded and decrepit ships coming from sri Lanka). It stopped people from drowning when the ships sank. Our legal immigration rate is among the highest in the world, but if you want to live here you have to ask, not demand.
Mind you our ridiculously high immigration rate pisses plenty of people off as it is. Nothing to do with who is coming, just that it's too much for the country to handle. Housing prices keep skyrocketing and there is a massive rental crisis where full time workers can't find anywhere available. Our federal government sets the immigration rate, but our state governments have to provide all the infrastructure and planning. It's a little surprising that more of our states aren't getting annoyed with our federal government.

Yeah, Texas has as much chance of seceding as California would. Both states economy were built upon the American economy and to secede would be too costly. This is just something they do to pressure Federal government into action. This doesn't mean the Fed, Biden administration & Congress aren't innocent of creating this mess. The whole rhetoric that the Dems & Biden were spewing about Trump's immigration policy & afterwards was just more encouragement for illegal immigration. It put them between a rock & hard place when it came to policy. Keep in mind these illegals also include Chinese, Africans, Caribbeans & others who paid to get smuggled. This going to keep continuing until congress actually fixes the problem or the immigration system stops working altogether. I would say this should be a lesson in paying attention to what & how you say something but the Republicans will just complain about the border without offering solutions while Democrats will push for amnesty while using this issue to help bolster the number of seat that they have in the house of representatives. The system has only allowed the most cynical of decision making to happen by all parties involved. Biden is right to want to fix the issue at the root but this is his second time & well you can't fix a corrupt country's economy with money alone, this is his 2nd attempt at this already.

Typical that leftists think that bureaucracy is at the top level of all discourse, within texas alone there is enough armed right wing dissidents to effectively stop a military action cold.
Field combat of Ukraine is not at all the same as the MOUT combat of what would be seen in texas. Not to mention that a 1/3 of most ground combat oriented branches of the military would mutiny against the federal government.
The United States military could not effectively quell the insurgency in Iraq, and could not stop the resistance of the Taliban.
Urban combat is a completely different beast and there's no room for a "fallujah" in any texas city, there's nowhere for civilians to go to facilitate the military fighting armed right wing dissidents.
That means, every single time the United States military used a tank or a bomb or a plane or a missile, on an urban setting they'd be losing the optics and public relations war and putting distrust in civilians.
The United States military branches not having the home advantage means encampments and facilities and checkpoints would be under constant risk while armed dissidents moved throughout the city in relative anonymity, the dissidents would know where the military was but the military could not track down all the dissidents, and would get ambushed if they tried.
It took 18 months for 250k UAF combat troops to die in combat against Russia the United States armed services have at most around maybe if they're lucky on a good day just under 500k trigger pullers who are actually fighting.
While droves hundreds of thousands of armed men with constitutionalist values pour in from other states pour in to fight the government in such a scenario.
A civil war in the United States is unwinnable by the United States armed forces if they go up against armed right wing dissidents.

The major issue we are facing all across the country is the political elites don’t represent the will of the people or act in the best interest of the nation. Essentially that is taxation without representation. The Declaration of Independence is the foundational document of our nation and supercedes the Constitution. I don’t know where the exact tipping point will occur but it is absolute madness for the federal government to ignore its duties and put the border states in a position where their constituents demand that local governments act. If people believe that they are not being heard then at some point they will resort to violence.

It's not ignoring its duty, though. Texas is literally preventing border agents from doing their job. Another enlightening Visual Politic episode. I was really wondering why there was an internal battle the US was fighting between states over Illegal immigration that seemed so silly. Why was New York forced to accept immigrants from Texas and its own population suffering from it? Why did Elon Musk even share his own reporting from the US-Mexico border that showed how dire the situation was from the POV of border security forces? For some reason NOBODY, except this Visual Politic episode mentioned that there is an INCREASING number of economic, and many political, immigrants fleeing countries that are unable to deal with their own problems. The US remains the shining destination and its politicians are exploiting the threat for their own benefits. This is truly an international problem washing over US borders as well as European borders that is causing the same havoc with the local population. The democratic, capitalism of the US has won as the best system for wealth management which countries like China that adopted only part of it cannot replicate. Chinese refugees fleeing China and arriving thousands of kilometres at the US border are stark evidence of the failure of the Chinese economic experiment.

If Texas ever manages to secede from the union, it won't happen unless or until America has a "great divorce" where red states secede from their blue cities and vice versa because national politicians on both sides are like transatlantic colonial masters who don't know the people they allegedly represent and are unwilling to let them govern themselves. The entire reason America seceded from Britain and created its own Constitution and Bill of Rights was so that individual communities could be allowed to rule themselves by their own cultural standards under the umbrella of common law. If one side can abuse federal power to turn Texas into California, the other side can abuse the same power to turn New York into Florida, and the ones who lose in both scenarios are "We the People."
