How Speedrunners DESTROYED The (Former) Hardest Challenge In ULTRAKILL

- ULTRAKILL is a hard game, but there is a level that rises above the rest in terms of sheer difficulty. Not only that, but there is a challenge the game allows for that makes any level noticeably more difficult. In this video I go over the hardest challenge on the hardest level, and how dedicated players of the game absolutely destroyed a level that should've been much, much harder.

(Edit) Errata because I got a few things wrong:
THE BIG ONE: The 30:17 bit where I go off about the exponential multiplier, I accidentally said and implied that it was exponential DAMAGE. It is not. The exponential multiplier applies to STYLE. NOT to damage. (This was a certified TiredNova moment).
27:45-27:48 should have Travis’s name, not Queck’s. Editing is hard.
The slab (or alternate) revolver existed before this level did. I mentioned it after that acting like it didn’t exist for some reason. It existed prior to Travis's 1:31. My brain saw the update it received around that time and put some pieces together incorrectly.
There's several points where I go off about the nailgun being buffed before Queck uses it in a run. Although that was nice, the main reason is because there was a glitch in where you couldn't place magnets in arenas (this was actually thought to be intentional as a way to stop players from doing exactly what happened).

Meanwhile, there's an MMO developer that's known for their "no fun allowed"(TM) stance on things. They briefly had headbanging mounts due to a glitch, but you know... "no fun allowed", so they broke the glitch (by fixing it).
I'm happy to see Overkill got a Chad dev who just makes it canon instead! :D

Dont worry, its not even the stupidest name for tech. A new dumb name was literally made today for a strategy, but the best one will always be scihzo-boosting. (If you shoot a shotgun you gain a tiny bit of momentum in the direction you shoot, when I mean tiny I mean tiny. It takes over 2 hours to get across 0-4 using only schizo-boosts.)

Awesome video, this is so much more in-depth than I expected it would be! Makes me want to practice deadcoins more so I can work on my own speedruns...
I'm pretty sure when going over the Harmless changes you say that Minos' Judgment doesn't hurt you if you pay it because it's explosion doesn't have a hitbox, and I do think this is true nowadays. But in the footage they're clearly taking damage - I believe this might be something that was changed with a patch.
Correct, it typically doesn't, but to my knowledge that only occurs when Minos is still over 1/2 health. Parrying no longer cancels the explosion if Minos has used the "WEAK!" voice line once he's below half health (as he was at 18:43, which is what I believe you're referring to)
I'm pretty sure the slab revolver was released before the run where you mentioned it, as it's visible in Travis' 1.34 run

it was literally in the act 1 release, a year or two before P-1 (if I had to guess)

....watching people kill Minos before he can even take a step is a very painful thing to watch after looking at the days of grinding it took me to just regularly kill him for the first time.

8:10 this runner also does a 'coinadd'. Due to the hit lag you can actually throw an extra coin after the first two and get in another reflect even though you didn't throw a third coin.
Ever since act 2 dropped I changed my strat for tackling p-1 (I’m not a speedrunner btw). First off the rocket launcher makes nuking more consistent for FP, especially freezeframe. Second, I put a magnet onto Pinos after my saw and overheat nail trap to attract rockets to the boss, go airborne INTENTIONALLY to get Pinos to use an uppercut, and then shoot my rockets at him since they do the boosted explosion when he is in the air.
"And thy punishment... IS DEATH" followed immediately by audible groaning as minos dies
i cant express how much i love this love and effort filled video, its def amazing; mostly because of how new viewer or unexperienced player-friendly it is

Real story: it took me more tries to P-rank 3-1 than it took me to P-rank P-1. I don't know howww or why, but I'm blaming Mindflayers.

I can’t stress this enough. But the reason ultrakill is the BEST SINGLEPLAYER FPS (I’m not exaggerating) is because the bosses teaches you skills you will need for future bosses, and to heal, you need to ACTUALLY PLAY THE GAME
