- This is my 1 year ownership review of the BMW 640d Gran Coupe

I, too, love my 640d... the torque stat is a lot more than you mentioned: 630 N⋅m (465 lb⋅ft)
at 1,500-2,500 rpm
This was one of my first video reviews on CZcams Ive mentioned the torque twice I got it right one time and the second time wrong I was aware of that and I really appreciate the comment and listening .

I have 640d gc with different options. I understand the true torque stats are 630 N⋅m (465 lb⋅ft)
at 1,500-2,500 rpm.

I am test driving one of these next week. The part about the boot and wife was informative as my wife often kicks me out. That could be the deciding factor on whether I buy it.

@@FahimKhan-ov9ki no I didnt. It was too big and not really that quick. I bought a 2017 335d instead. Its a lot smaller and also quicker.

@@FahimKhan-ov9ki its faster and easier to drive but the 640d has better interior and is quieter at motorway speeds. The MPG is higher on the 3 series plus it feels sportier. I prefer the 335d but the 640d is still an amazing car.

Thanks for video btw 13:40 that sound is fake by BMW made it for better feeling while u hittin the gas . I am sure u know that the sound comes from speakers not from the engine
Unfortunately it is true as a diesel engine will never sound like that but when you put your foot down and the car forces you back onto the seat the sound that is in the speakers it just gives it a nicer touch,
only Lexus do fake sound
Nice car and video .. I have same alpine white 640xi and I love it ... Looking forward to u modding it ..will b following.. def like the rear spolier..ive done some mods to my f06 but haven't done the boot spoiler yet .. that's next !👍
I would have to say it is one of the best car I ever owned and to do mods on it it kind of separate it to every other 6 years on the road some people appreciate it some people don't but whatever makes you happy is the way to go

Lovely car. I have a 535d f10 (same engine but mapped to 380bhp. Awesome power) but was thinking of trading it for a 640d. My only concern is space. The rear seems too small for tall people and my son is over 6ft. How to you find the car for weekends away carrying suitcases?
It's a beautiful car very nice and comfortable front seats back seats that's another story if your son is over 6-ft I really don't recommend the 640 either you going to have to look at an X5 if you want that extra comfort

Your going to change tires after 4 months as they burn rubber ?? Something is seriously wrong. I have a 2016 M5 which as you know is a powerful monster of a car and my tires are good after 8000 miles.
I agree I have a 640d GC and I have had 10,000 miles out of my tyres, I think it really depends on your driving style! Great choice of car btw, I have the new G80 M3 on order should be here early August!

Not surprising you burn through the rear tyres driving like you do LOL
About the hateful terrible run flats, no mate no effect on your warranty (I have an email from bmw co firming). Just need to tell insurers (no charge) and buy a £20 compressor kit. They don’t use run flats on the M6 or any Mcar as they know they ruin the whole car. I put Michelin PS4S on mine and I’d genuinely is like night and day. Would never go back. £200 a corner in the uk. My tyres last 20000 miles too, so I’m not sure how you are driving it :)

@Mike Davies I agree. When I tested my 2015 640i M-Sport pre-purchase I loved the car & absolutely hated the run flats!! Bought the car knowing the tires had to go. I live in the Chicago IL area & run Continental Extreme Contacts on my E60 528Xi & Porsche 987 Boxster. These tires are awesome all around performers with our ever changing weather & garbage roads! They were a natural choice for my 6. I have the 19" wheels so they weren't all that expensive. Completely changed my car! It rides so quiet now & handles much better than before. I have roadside assistance in case of a flat but I'm also checking ebay for a BMW compressor to keep in the trunk with sealant just in case. Thanks for the great review...my car is also Alpine White 🙂

how is the handling on B roads? does it feel sporty with the suspension setup and weight?
@@theofficialstig what's on it is 20 inch run flat tyres I don't think I would change anything to them because it a voids the warranty by BMW

Your safety part 🤣 literally every car has that. Plus how are you driving your motor? I have 640 rear tyres for almost a year now. Plenty left on them. Problems with the car are as follows. (Small problems)
1. Its length, very easy to clip a back wheel on tight bends/corners.
2. Steering wheel leather fades very quickly and can become sticky in hot weather. (Cheap leather get it wrapped in Alcantara)
3. Fake sound inside, never look cool to people outside when you take off at traffic lights.
4. If you want to change air con settings or direction of air yiu HAVE to take your eyes off the road and look for the button. (Not safe) Unlike a golf and most other cars which have a dial where you can easily change your settings by feel without taking eyes off the road.
5 and final. Don't lower it. Car has such a long distance from front axil to rear axil at times with some speed bumps that have more length/depth yiur front wheels can be on the ground after you've gone over it and your back wheels are yet to hit it. Coming down in ride height buy and inch or 2 could see you getting stuck on one.
I really appreciate your time and the feedback on my video.I can almost agree with everything you have said the safety features on this car are not the same as on every car ,lowering the car it is not my intent. I do like to drive a bit fast but with my experience with other cars that I had they never ate that much tyres and again thank you .
"easy to clip a back wheel"? keep your nearside wing mirror angled down so you can see where the wheel is in relation to the kerb, at least until you learn the size of your car
