Late to the party, but the "secret sauce" to keeping a key stuck in the keyway while you install a hub, gear, rotor, etc: a tiny dab of CA "super glue" applied with a sewing needle at the bottom of the keyway. Not even a full drop, just a hairline smear, lol. That'll stick it well, yet let go if you tickle the key with a soldering iron, or bash it with a punch.

I'm working on an 81 Yamaha XS650 bobber build I'm trying to find out information on how to switch mine over to kick-start only no battery having a hard time finding out which kit do I need to do that with and also do I still need to use my points that are in the bike now I picked up a rolling chassis the bike is kind of copped up with the wiring and I'm not sure where all the wiring goes or what to do I'm a newbie to it but I am mechanically inclined and a quick learner is there any info you can give me or any way you can help me by the way that's a sweet looking build you have

Hey buddy, where are you from. This kit and ones like it don’t use the points you just take it all out as it picks up the position of the generator it’s self, this kit dose battery or battery less as it comes with a small capacitor that holds the charge needed that just ticks away as it’s like a small battery probably 2” long. I have very minimal wiring in my bike, this kit is very simple to use and wire

@@shannonkaiser9592 I just brought the best kit he had mate, wasn’t that expensive to be honest. The CDI type is the one to get rid of the points set up so it is best in my opinion. Give him a call he is a lovely chap
