    Great work on the frame as usual - but oh Matt - sorry to see you flat again: Do the things that are fun and make you smile - get out on that mountain bike with your lad, take the pooch for a mooch... when its time, the workshop and racing will call you again - it always does in the end. We'll be here to watch and learn, cheering you on when you are back - take it easy - Rob

    You can make full penetration welds that don't shrink. Just use enough tacks. But the metal should or must be preheated or cracks will be inevitable. - As it tries to shrink.

    • @skidmores.garage
      @skidmores.garage Před 13 dny

      @@thaiexodus2916 yes you can do it but it’s very time consuming and hard to master, it’s better I find to think ahead and counter act the warp and shrink within your job, say build over size to bring into spec if things are that critical. Preheat is mainly used in dense/think material or sometimes aluminium. I wouldn’t preheat for stuff I like I do as it’s not going to stop the sharing due to the thin wall

    • @skidmores.garage
      @skidmores.garage Před 27 dny

      Basicly the top of the strut tower where the normal strut top goes on you chop the top out and weld a ring in the top, then there is a disc that mounts to the top of the coilover and sits inside that ring in a recess and another ring bolts on the top. This design lets you put the top of the strut where ever you like as the disc has the slot in it for camber but as the disc spins 360’ you can place it anyway
