If you're going to say that the generator is going to run 18 hours on full tank please say at what load 25% ? 50% ?
@@JesusG90247 18 hours for gasoline @ 25% load and 14 hours for propane @ 25% load
@@SilverCymbal Thank you
@Alden Buyer They just ran out but they should be back in stock there I would think in a few days.
Now $1799 for the dual fuel model. 🤔
Remember folks to put a gps tracker inside so when someone takes it you can start a hunting trip.
Lol
😆 🤣 😂
Wow what a nice unit. Three years ago I bought a Westinghouse WH2400i generator and I really like it. Have had no problems. If I could magically return mine and get my full money back I'd consider purchasing this one.
We were just without power for three days! We had a standby generator but our neighbors need something like this .
Good video!
Thank you for the nice word. It’s too bad that we have to buy these but for all of us at some point these make a big difference. I like how the convenience of the way they did this design too.
Let me guess, california PG&E?
Mikiness Analog hahaha!
No it was in Maine from a small windstorm. There was a tree that came down but it got complicated after that
I've been using the Champion Dual fuel 9kw generator for about 5 years with no problems. $750 at Costco when I got it, it is heavier. However it came with the wheel kit, has longer runtime between oil changes and it's easier to service than others.
This generator is exactly what I needed! Works great, a little noisy but does the job well.
Had this video in my watch later folder. Glad I watched it. This is ideal for me. I can load in the trailer and go camping, at outdoor events and hunting or fishing trips. More research on it before I buy but thank you for the video. 🤘
Glad it was helpful thank you
FINALLY, a good preparedness solution! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much
I really like the dual fuel generators. I have a Honda 200 and have to replace my two 5 gallons every six months. What a pain. I have researched Propane and it can last 10+ years in your garage. No mess.. I am always spilling my gasoline when dumping it in my car to go out and buy fresh every 6 months.
I also bought dual fuel but am only storing propane at home because of the 6 month gas limitation.
I got mine yesterday and hope to start it up today. Amazon had it for $999.00 USD so I bought it two weeks ago. I see now that it is not available directly from them. It would have been nice to add the battery and oil setup to your video. Having said that you did an excellent job in producing this video. Well edited, in focus, and great audio... very professional. Thanks for posting.
Thank you I really appreciate that. I think they may have sold out for the moment but they will be back at that price again.
I love propane and propane accessories, especially with a generator!
It is a very nice setup for sure
Hank Hill is proud of you ;-)
I'll tell you what!
Yup!
I’ll tell you what!
What a great piece of equipment well done westonhouse
It’s actually Ducar rebranded as Westinghouse.
Excellent job and thank you for sharing this information. I really enjoy your videos, again...thank you.
I just picked up a Honda EM 5000SX w/ only 7 hours on it for $1200 dollars. What a machine! Nice video Silver
Thank you very much. The Hondas are of course all very nice machines, I can't bring myself to convert them to LP no matter what they tell me. But quality stuff they have for sure.
I just purchased one due to the new frequent California blackouts ($1000 at Amazon). It is very quiet so it won't bother the neighbors. I have run two refrigerators, a whole entertainment system, 1 fast computer and all networking equipment and it was only at 25% load. It has run for over 40 hours on a 30 Lb propane tank and it still has more gas in it. I wanted one that would be easy enough for my wife to start up in an outage when I'm not home. For now using a 30 amp 50' RV cord to a 2 - 20 amp 120v plug splitter.
Next is to setup a generator shed and connect it to the house with a switch panel. I plan on only using propane since it will not go bad over time like gas will.
Great video, just bought one of these today !! This generator is exactly what I was looking for. It is very easy to move around and is very quiet ..
Love your videos and commentary, greetings from Ireland.
That's really wonderful, glad to have you on the channel and thank you!
Wow. This generator is the best of what I've researched so far. So many features in one package.
In the end, the generators are as good as the maintenance you give them.
I know that the Honda and Yamaha are the flagships and they could be considered the best in performance and durability, but now a days so many other brands do have the know how of this small inverter generators that you can buy almost any other brand and as long as you give them proper maintenance, they will last a long time.
Bottom line, that's my opinion.
Have a great one everybody!
I agree with you completely. This one is still a bargain but maintenance is key!
Succinct babe.
I agree as well. As an owner of this same unit, it cost about half the price of buying two ~2000 watt Hondas or Yamahas with twinning kit and yet they don’t have as much “continuous power” and do. It have a remote start, let alone the ability to use propane as an optional fuel. I didn’t realize how good & unique of a product I chose almost two years ago now, yet love it so far. Oh, and as mentioned, maintenance is key 👍🏼. So I conduct more frequent oil changes than recommended (such a small cost for preventative measures) what, it will help it last much longer.
YOU LEFT SOMETHING OUT!! This generator has a built in charger to keep the 12V battery charged. All other electric starts require you to hook up a trickle or other charger but this comes with a chord to plug it in and charge it = very handy. You can see the plug for it at the very top in the middle. Nice review!
Just bought one, shows up in a couple days. Thanks for the video
I love your channel bro you always have excellent content and are very thorough and in depth with your analysis of these products I've been a long time subscriber and have turned a lot of my friends on to your channel!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video very helpfull
Thank you
Great review. Answered all my questions.
I like the idea of a propane generator - gas goes bad quickly, propane stores well, a large tank can be used to refill the small tanks, and very stable for years. Would love to have seen the covers off the generator in the video - otherwise great review.
I hope they come back after the gas leak fix, looks like a great unit for house and RV
??
Great review, well done.
Westinghouse is a good brand i noticed the last 6 years. I dont have their generator but anything i have of their brand still holds up. My LG smart tv is newer and already has issues. Lol
Nice unit and review. I have a 9575 watt duel fuel Champion. It's never seen a drop of gas. That will be the backup since propane has an indefinite shelf life and will be my main source of fuel.....of course, as you mentioned, propane doesn't have the BTU content of gasoline.....Mine is rates @ 7500 watts with propane. But for $900 it is a great option for backup power.
Sounds very cool! Lot of power there
Looks like a great package. Longevity is the key. Unfortunately things that are loaded with features are usually loaded with future problems. Have to keep an eye on this one. Thanks
Watchin from Manitoba & I think a dual fuel gen is the way to go. Will have to see what they cost in Canada.//Thanks 4 the heads up!
Very cool thank you so much glad to have you on the channel
Great review. Keep them coming. Very informative
Thank you I really appreciate it
Awesome! Definitely going to get this.
Thanks for the awesome review!!!
Thanks for the good info! The Pulsar dual fuel generators are even cheaper but they don't have remote start and I'm not sure about the difference in the warranty!
I bought one of these for camping, and it works flawlessly.
Great to hear
Is it loud?
@@jacksonvang3429 It will be definitely louder than a Honda eu2000i or a Honda eu3000i when they are idle. However, the iGen 4500 DF is definitely quieter than an open frame generator. The efficiency mode switch helps when it is unloaded, but once you get past a quarter to half load, the engine is going to be at 3600 RPM, so the switch doesn't matter at higher loads.
If you are used to Champion or open frame construction generators, this is quieter. If you are used to the quiet purring of a Honda eu2200i, expet this to be relatively louder.
Awesome unit , thanks for sharing
Thank you very much
Great video! And love the generator, it’s very cool...
I appreciate that a lot, this was a very nice surprise how well this performed.
My next generator. Great video 👍🏽
Thank you
Always good info!
This is a little generator worth taking a look at for my home. Thanks for the video.
Thank you I appreciate. This was a totally non-sponsored video and I was very impressed by this generator.
How much ?
As long as you can get by without 220 sure
Go with on demand propane or natural gas hot water heater, stove and blue flame propane or natural gas heat. And you don't need 220 volts. Myself I prefer propane that way the government cannot shut off your natural gas in a state of emergency or disaster or whatever they say. You could take a normal generator and get the tri-fuel kit that runs Gasoline, propane or natural gas. That way if you have natural gas to your house and it gets shut off in a state of emergency, natural disaster, snow storm you can still switch over to propane, gasoline or natural gas and keep running. A tri-fuel add on kit to a generator does this.

Just bought one and its very nice.
Nice generator. Nice video. Thanks for the info.

Nice generator! My sister has a Japanese Spitz exact like yours! Great companions that stay by your side.
Thank you, she is our first one and dog. Everything you said is so true. Great personality!
Love the American Eskimo Ive ha 3 Great info also
They are some amazing dogs. So loyal.
Wow, this is a great one . Thanks
i have one, i am impressed so far.
Very cool to here
Thanks, good review
I have been following this generator since it was announced. We have been looking for an affordable dual fuel, remote start generator that we could use with our travel trailer to run our 15K btu Air Conditioner. Thanks for the review, going to purchase one this spring.
Thank you very much I was really impressed by this one
Silver Cymbal, the only foreseeable issue I could see would be finding a repair a facility, or heaven forbid an authorized warranty repair shop.
Very nice review Thanks
Thank you very much
Cool thank you so much!
Sonho de consumo 😍
Silver heading to 100k! A well deserved Christmas present indeed 🙌🏼
Thank you very much I appreciate you and my other viewers that have been with me, very grateful.
I'd love to buy one for the house but a twist lock and 220 is a requirement for powering house.
It has been a while since I have heard a MA accent....cool. I live in Canada and have mistakenly been thought to come from Boston.
Most people don't know it. That's funny! Thanks for watching
thank you!
*_SUPER GENERATOR. BRAVO._*
Thank you
I bought a gas only 6,500 watt generator for $699 and a tri fuel conversion kit for $185. My primary fuel source is natural gas, unlimited, no need to store fuel and cheap, so long as the natural gas is running. I also have 2 40lb propane tanks, safe and stores forever, if the natural gas goes out too. Lastly I have 2 40 liter jerry cans that I can fill if I get a warning that a power outage is possible/imminent, which I can put into a car after the event, if the fuel is not needed.
Silver, can you confirm the DF (Dual Fuel) version also has the gasoline fuel cut-off feature by which all fuel in the carburetor is burned before shutting down? This, to me, is perhaps the most attractive and valuable feature. Along with electric remote stop and start.
Need the answer.
Very cool features. Hope it’s durable.
Only time will tell on that one but it does appear to be very well made
Can you connect directly to the gas line on a newer RV? New RV's have a quick connect gas lines, so basic do I need the included regulator? Also, wish this had a quick connect for the propane. Looking at this because of the dual fuel option.
I'm buying one!
Champion has done dual fuel generators for years.
that is true except it's not chokeless and this generator comes with a remote start 🤔😉
Sounds like a Honda but it isn't. Where's it made. For $1500 quite inexpensive but that implies cheaply built. And when was the last time you saw a Westinghouse generator?
I saw one a Home Hardware yesterday.
@@mooglemy3813 I have had a Westinghouse generator for two years and it has worked great. Only trouble was one batch of bad gas. Dumped it all out and put in fresh and still runs like a champ. Puts out slightly more amps than the Honda that is rated 2000 watts.
@@davidoickle1778 I got the 2200 Westinghouse for $400 two years ago. Waited for a sale and it also had a damaged cardboard box so the price came down from $479 to $400 and it's been great.
On my DuroMax generator before switching to propane you need to shut the fuel off and run the gas out of the carburetor. Otherwise the muffler would turn cherry red.
Until the carburetor went dry.
Is that required with the Westinghouse?
As a mechanic who has fixed a lot of generators, the most common problem I see is stale fuel, and carburetors clogged by stale fuel residue. As such, I think most people would be better served by a propane powered generator because you avoid that problem.
Very true it happens all the time.
That is the reason I purchased it. I can run it on gasoline on Saturday, then on Sunday, switch to propane to clean out the carb bowl and the lines, ensuring the carb is completely dry before going into storage.
I have found that E0 also makes a lot of difference, since even with additives, ethanol gas (E10-E15) does corrode carbs.
@@dfloyd888 Yes, I recommend to all my customers that they avoid alcohol blended fuel in their small engines.
Very nice.. the generator I always wished for... dual fuel and electric start..... I wonder how hard it would be to adapt it to natural gas.
That video is on CZcams..trifuel
Thank you very much for the video dum m question can I link two plus use a transfer box so is easy to turn on when the power goes off ? Here in south Florida during hurricane season we lose power for days thank you again
The best generator is one you can easily get parts for and can find repair support. Honda hands down has both of these fields covered. Yeah it’s expensive but where are you going to find parts for this thing?
Ducar seems to make this generator for several North American companies and they specialize in the North American market. The user manual I received with my IG4500 DF includes multiple exploded diagrams of the unit with part numbers. For example need a cylinder head that's part number 180855. Have not had to order anything so not sure of delivery times. Also I have a lot of Honda products and have been very happy with them.
I have a dual fuel from Champion, same basic thing except no remote start. Works great though I wish it had a bigger gas tank.
Also the other thing it doesn't have is chokeless and the remote start
@@JesusG90247 I mentioned the remote start... you're right about the choke thing, I forgot about that.
Jeremy Holovacs I have been thinking about the Champion. Nice to have 240v
The large diameter black regulator is a demand regulator. If you want to hook this up to your home propane system you’ll need the demand regulator but you’ll need to remove the silver one.
Is it possible to hook up a dual propane tank system you can run continuously while you change tanks?
@@JeffBowe search for an automatic changeover valve. I think that may be what you’re looking for.
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND THIS FOR A WEEK AND ITS OUT OF STOCK UNTILL ABOUT MARCH NEXT YEAR IM SO UPSET!!!!!!!
eddiekytia who gave you the march estimate? i heard like july
Right on the Westinghouse generator can you hook up a second generator for more power to it
For the run time, is that for gas, propane or both? Thanks.
This is an awesome generator. Thanks for the video. Have you had to deal with Westinghouse customer service? The reason why I ask is because I own a couple Champion inverter generators and there customer service is spot on. I am firm believer that a product is only as good as its follow up customer service when needed.
I have no connection to them and have not called so I can't say it's great or bad. You are correct though service can be a big deal.
GREAT Video I justed subscribe 👍👍👍
Thank you, I really appreciate it
The best use of CZcams to showcase products I would otherwise not be aware of.Thanks for the review.
Ps I can see that handy dual fuel if I ran out of gas and the local station could not pump gas due to power outage. How long can it run on a 20lb propane tank ?
Do they make a larger model with the same features ?
It looks like this is the only size they have now, I would love a 7000 version but the convenience of this one is really great. Thank you for the nice comment
Awesome great , no wonder why it cost a lot
love the samoyed
Great video; thanks. Do you know if they have a natural gas adapter?
You said everything
Nice
Thank you
Excellent. Had not seen this generator before. Anyone know how "clean" the RF interference is for us amateur radio operators? Some inverters are very RF unfriendly.
These are said to be pure sine and clean generators
This thing is sweet
I am looking for a generator like this to use the remote start or wire it up for a 2 wire start from my solar system inverter. For propane mode there is no way to remote start it with the inverter efficiency mode on MARK or does the propane set up not allow the efficiency mode?
UNCLEDOUG HERE THANKS WE WILL BE BUYING ONE IF NOT 2 OF THESE NOW !!!! THIS IS WHAT WE ALL HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THANKS AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, they are pretty amazing machines for the money a bargain too.
I know this is an older video but maybe you know the answer to this question. If you had a load running on this and used the remote to shut it off..... then used the remote to restart would the load still be powered or does the stop start function disable the AC outlets?
I had the DF version in mind... but I accidentally bought the regular one 😭 too lazy to return. Still an excellent investment! Fires right up. Although I think mine might’ve had oil in it 🤔 if not, it leaks
I've always heard that the Honda generators are the quietest ones, but your video seems to give the same-ish measures. Subjectively, can you hear the difference? Is it actually noticeable? I'm thinking of getting this generator for camping but I don't want to annoy the neighbors.
What happens to the gas in the carb after switching over to propane? Is it burned with the propane or do you have to drain it?
I recently received (the very hard to get) iGen4500DF. I'm hearing an intermittent "rasping" sound when the generator output is between 1900 and 2300 Watts. The noise does not start until I exceed about 1900 Watts, it goes away again if I go over 2300 Watts. You have to be somewhat close to the generator to hear it, but it is definitely there. I have connected a Voltmeter, a Frequency meter, and an oscilloscope (through a 12VAC step down isolation transformer). When the generator makes this funny noise, the voltage, frequency, and wave-form remain perfect. I'm posting this in case someone else has had the same issue or perhaps would like to try their generator at these load levels and see if it makes any kind of "extra" noise. By the way, the generator continues to produce 120VAC right up to 3300 Watts.
Very nice
I’m buying a Westinghouse generator. I will connect it to my house propane piping as I use propane for everything...do I need to use the regulator supplied? My house piping supplies 10” water column pressure...
Will this also run on natural gas if you remove the fancy propane regulator?
How much did it cost you? It’s currently unavailable on Amazon! Thanks
How does this unit work running propane in temps between 5 ° 20° is auto choke a problem with propane
I would like to see how long that 20# propane tank would last with an easy low load and a half load.
Best part 04:54 the model comes out on the runway.
Definitely
Did they fix the gas leak problem, because they are on Amazon dont know if its the old model with the gas leak proble or the repaired new models? How do I know the difference?
Pretty cool!
I wish for a portable lithium battery that has enough power to handle 240v for a couple of hours or 120v for around 7 hours
They are available, but get your check book out. Tesla makes one, they call it a power wall. Google it and check out the price, it will make your head explode.
Just add wheels to make it portable.
Bruce Jones why would my head explode at 6.7k? A Nissan Leaf battery replacement is 8.5k. I was thinking something about 1/8 the size and 1/8 the price. Just a small temporary backup. Not anything that can power a whole house for days
@@shadowdance4666, when compared to a good generator at under $2,000, a small battery at $2,000 that could provide power for 7 to 8 hours then have to be recharged might not be as appealing as just pouring another 4 gallons of gas into a generator for another15 to 24 hours of power, if you are frugal in your use of that power.
Bruce Jones well, I have a battery now for $500. It can output around 800 watts for an hour or more. More time with less wattage. If I don’t use it doesn’t have to run on the down time like most generators do.
I’m getting more and more used to using electric devices with battery power. I like not having to buy gas, store gas, treat it, service engines, dealing with the exhaust or noise. I especially don’t like supporting Big Oil. I wouldn’t mind a more powerful battery for bigger jobs in emergency situations like for my water pump from my well. I suppose a dedicated gas generator wouldn’t hurt also to have. But, I have a vehicle which is a big generator and an inverter for small things in a pinch
Do you know how long the generator will run on a standard propane tank at say, medium load?
